LOVE!!! Mary is my hair stylist and I absolutely loved how my red color turned out. I got tons of compliments on it because it was so natural and subtle and went back in for a retouch with their glaze service. The color they used wasn't harsh on my hair at all and it didn't end up damaging it. I bought their shampoo/conditioner for colored hair (which smelled amazing)! The only thing that I'm a little disappointed with is my hair cut. I think there must have been a misunderstanding in how I wanted it cut. Every female knows how hard it is to find a good stylist, which is why I am so ecstatic to have found Kenzo Salon! I have been going to DonaLyn for for a couple of years now and have never been happier! She has taken me from a short bob to long layers to bangs and I have been happy with every style. Not only do I always walk out of the salon feeling great, but my hair continues to look good for months after. I am actually moving across the country in a few days, and I am pretty sure I will still make trips back east to get my hair done by DonaLyn. Beyond the wonderful haircuts, the salon itself is great. The entire salon is so relaxing and everyone is super professional. I've been to half a dozen salons on newbury and this place blows them all out of the water! The service, the attention to detail, everything is totally top notch. The first time i visited the owner made sure to introduce himself and make sure i was comfortable and thanked me for coming in. I went to Kenzo Salon today to have hair cut. After reading all the reviews in yelp, I made an appointment with GINA. First of all, every single person working in the salon were super friendly. As soon as you enter the salon they offer a drink and show great hospitality. After waiting 15 min, I met with GINA and explained her what I want. I also showed her couple of pictures and asked about her opinion. After we make the plan, she washed may hair while I was seated in a massage chair, which was so relaxing after a long work day! She started to cut and then blow dried and then dry cut the hair. We agreed to make it a little bit shorter so she started the cycle over again! She is very lovely and she knows what she is doing! I definitely love my new hair cut. I have very thinning/fine hair so I was looking for stylish yet volumizing hair style and she gave me more than I want. I am sure all other stylist are pretty good in the salon but when you go there ask for GINA! You will not regret! read more

I just got my first haircut with Lisa at Kenzo Salon, and I couldn't be happier. The salon itself is clean, comfortable, and nicely designed. They offer a dozen varieties of coffee and tea to customers, as well as some small snacks. Their hair washing chairs have footrests and the chair backs have vibrate/massage functions. It also doesn't hurt that they're about a three minute drive from my house and there's plenty of free parking nearby. Lisa is really excellent, and listened to my description of my hair style (short, angled down towards my chin, fine hair) until now and hair routine (wash, a bit of blow drying and no product, out the door) and provided me with an beautiful and flattering cut that will take minimal maintenance. I've already made a follow up appointment to get a cut and color in the near future. My only regret is that I didn't know this gem was here sooner. read more

I bought a Living social hoping to find a new hair stylist, since my last one moved far away. However, hair is something I don't usually like to take a chance with... especially because I never had a male stylist. But Nick from Kenzo changed that! He was very nice, gentle with my hair and listened very well. I left the salon happy with my hair, friendly environment and all the extra perks you get at Kenzo. Most salons on Newbury Street do not offer wine (as one of their drink selections), provide massage/recliner chairs while you get your hair washed or free parking!!! I bought this on a livingsocial deal for $26 for a haircut and blowdry. It had great reviews so I figured I'd give it a shot! They sent my text reminders about my appt which was great. They also offered me a cup of coffee during the appointment, and it looked like they had trail mix in the waiting area too. The washing hair station had a massage chair/recliner and they had hot towels. It's the small things that matter! The haircut itself was good too. They seem a little pricy full price though, so that's the only issue I foresee. But It was a great experience. I live in Medford so it was really convenient to get to, with free parking as well. read more

What a great place! I just discovered this place and have been there for 2 cuts. They are amazing! The staff is professional and actually listen to you and what you want done with your hair. The answer questions and provide input into how to keep your hair looking the way it does when you walk out. I even make an appointment for a bang trim (which is free by the way) for mid-time between haircuts. They will actually make an appointment for a free service! Kenzo is an awesome find outside of Boston! My boyfriend and I live in Winchester and were looking for a quick hair cut before we went on vacation. The idea of driving into the city to see our regular place seemed like too much trouble with only a couple of hours left to pack. We Googled salons near our zip code, and found Kenzo. After reading the great reviews on Yelp I called the salon for 2 appointments. With no notice Cheryl was able to fit us in back to back. She was so helpful and understanding of our very tight schedule. I was a nervous girl as I've only ever gotten my hair cut at one (very expensive) place downtown, but after speaking to Cheryl about my concerns she put me with Donalyn. We found the salon with no problem, and were offered a beverage while we waited a few minutes for our stylists to finish up with their clients. I don't remember the name of my boyfriend's stylist, but he thought she was great, and plans on going back. Donalyn is a great listener! How important is that when you are trusting someone to cut your hair?! She listened, told me what I told her, and began the process. She did a fantastic job with my hair! Who needs the salon downtown? Trust me, you won't be disappointed with the staff at Kenzo. A couple nice touches: the owner took a minute to introduce himself to us before we left, and thanked us for giving them a try; we did get a couple of Bumble and Bumble samples on the way out; we both got thank you cards from our stylist thanking us for coming in and telling us to have a great vacation. I found Kenzo Salon on Yelp while desperately searching for someone to fix a haircutting disaster from another salon. After reading the wonderful reviews I hoped that they were true and the salon could salvage my hair. I arrived to find a warm welcome and a glass of wine, a welcome offer given the stress I was in. I then put my trust in Kenny's hands. To fix my hair he had to make it shorter than it's been in a decade. I was nervous about my ability to style the hair on my own, but he showed me how to use the tools I have at home to recreate the look from the salon. He also took the time to make sure the cut was "just right" and didn't stop until he new I was satisfied. I have received many compliments on my new style and am very happy with the results. This place is literally as good as it gets!! I came here on a whim after so many awful and expensive haircuts in the greater Boston area. I looked it up on Yelp and made an appointment within a few days. I see Brandy who is AMAZING at her job. She literally transformed my look and I cannot imagine how I looked beforehand. She is very experienced and confident in what she is doing. Brandy always sits with her clients beforehand, in front of a mirror, and talks about how you feel about your hair length and style, and anything that you want to change or don't like. It is such a nice touch to actually talk about your hair and not hold your breath your entire haircut and hope you don't look like a poodle! Everyone at Kenzo is wonderful, and Kenny (owner) makes my family and I feel so welcome every time we are there. My husband and daughter both come here, and we are never, EVER going anywhere else. This was my first time going to Kenzo and I was a little nervous because I've had bad experiences trying out new hair stylists/salons - especially because I did balayage and cut. I saw Mary today and will most definitely come back to see her and I highly recommend her! She is so so nice and very knowledgable in both color and cut. The shampoo area has massage chairs for customers and the stylists provide a heated towel for the back of your neck. I love Kenzo! Donalyn has been cutting my hair for a year and she does a great job. I really enjoy going to Kenzo, you get the Boston salon experience without the pain of going downtown. Parking is easy, the prices are reasonable and the salon is fun and friendly. Also, they offer you a drink when you come in, which is always nice! I hate getting my haircut because I have curly/wavy/frizzy hair that is apparently tricky to cut. Usually, with curly hair, the stylist automatically goes for layers. My hair cut from Kenzo looked like a bob with almost no layers and no angling around the face. As those with curly hair know, an un-layered bob equals big unattractive triangle. To the hair stylist's credit, when I didn't appear initially pleased with the cut, she offered to keep working on it, but I thought I would try it out and see how it looked when I rewashed my hair, trusting the high reviews of the salon. The next day, I did the rewash to see how my hair naturally reacted to the cut; it was terrible. I scheduled an appointment to come in for a recut. Twenty minutes into my wait for the recut, I was informed that my stylist would be at least another 10 minutes. I feel like if a stylist is running 30+ minutes behind schedule, I should get a warning before the 20 minute mark. I had evening plans, so I ended up just leaving. I ended up getting the cut fixed at another salon later that week, and love the redo! That hair stylist mentioned that the cut I had just received was extremely uneven, and didn't work at all for curly/wavy hair. I have learned a valuable lesson: if you are looking for a new salon, have curly hair, and wear your hair naturally, do a search for "curly" on their yelp page. If the positive curly hair reviews are from people who had their hair relaxed, had keratin treatment, had their hair straightened, etc., (as this salon did) skip the salon. read more

To sum it up......I had the ULTIMATE salon experience today. This salon knows how to please it's clients and understands what we want. My phone conversations with Cheryl to set up my appointment were so delightful and she was also delightful as she immediately greeted me upon my entrance and welcomed me to the salon. Cheryl offered me a beverage. I am glad that I asked what the offerings were. Cheryls response referred to an assortment of coffees and teas and the list went on.....What!!! Did she say red or white wine???? She sure did. "Absolutely I will take white". She returned and said Kenny (the owner) just ran out to get some more and he would be right back, it will just be a few minutes. So Ken returned a few moments later ....hello before you know it I was chilling with a glass of white wine... When I was getting my hair wash after the color, ..oh my feet kicked up and I said..."Oh a recliner" and she said... "wait a minute your about to get a massage" WHAT!!! The washing chair was also an electric massage chair, like the spa pedicure one and it was heated. My stylist, Kim, was right on time and came over almost immediately after my entrance to introduce herself and welcome me and chat about what I needed. Very skilled and extremely attentive to what I wanted, I was immediately impressed. She gave me great tips for styling and went over products that would help with some hair issues and management. She is so nice and attentive and gave me the best cut I have had in a while No joke true pampering. LOVE IT! Oh wait did I mention a gift bag for a the new client.....This salon definitely knows how to provide exceptional service and I will certainly be returning. read more

My first experience at Kenzo salon was absolutely wonderful!! I've been to many salons on Newbury Street in Boston, many of which turned out to be serious dissapointments. Frustrated with the costs and as well as the talent in Boston, I finally began looking around the North Shore for a reputable salon. I'm so glad I listed to my fellow Yelpers and made an appointment here. I had Donalyn, and she was absolutely amazing! I brought in pictures of the hairstyle I wanted, and instead of being frustrated she listened patiently and talked me through the details I wanted for my hair--I immediately felt relaxed and excited for my haircut! To make a long story short- my hair came out great!! I would definately recommend Donalyn to anyone who likes to have imput over their haircut!! And I would be remiss if I didn't give compliments to the owner, who introduced himself and was very welcoming towards me, The hostess, as well, was a true gem, and offered me a beverage when I came in, took my coat, and did it all with a smile! I found this salon through Yelp. I called to ask about availability and the receptionist was absolutely delightful! I had cut my hair by Carla. I can easily say it was one of the best hair cuts I've ever gotten. I brought 3 pictures as references and she totally nailed the look I wanted. Honestly, I liked the way she cut my hair better than any of the pictures I brought in. Carla also showed me hair drying techniques and was very knowledgeable on all of the salon's products (without the pushy salesman stuff, bonus!). I will be back! read more

My hair is incredibly thick, big, brittle, and I went to Kenzo to get a blow-dry. Sometimes I feel a bit intimidated when I go to a chi-chi salon, thinking people are going to look at my hair and think, "oh boy" but from the moment I walked in, the receptionist had a huge smile and was very welcoming. Other staff members said hello and I could tell that there were no attitudes there as I have felt at other salons. Kenny, the owner, was so incredibly nice and understood the issues that I have with my hair. He suggested a curl at the end of my hair to offset my thin face. As he blow dried my hair, he gave me pointers as to how to do it, telling me that my hair was easy to blow out. Kenny showed me how to zig-zag it on top of my scalp, and gave me tons of curls on the bottom. It truly was the best blow dry I have ever gotten, and it lasted for a full week! As a designer, I was impressed with the bright, loft-style salon space with spa-like atmosphere. Stylist, Sarah, was excellent and very kindly transformed a bad home color job into a stunning array of highlight and lowlights with a superb cut. I just moved to Woburn and received an invite in the mail from Kenzo Salon so i decided to try it. I love everything about the place! It's very nice and comfortable inside, the staff are friendly and talkative. They make you feel welcome, and not rushed like other places i have been to. Carla was my stylist, and she did a fantastic job. I hardly even had to describe how i wanted my hair and she understood and did it perfectly. I have been to many salons where i felt that i described every detail of what i wanted exactly and still ended up with something horrible, but this was not the case at all at Kenzo. My hairdresser left the state, and I was unable to find someone to cut my hair the way I liked it. I was referred to Kenzo by my daughter. I saw Bridget, who was absolutely fantastic. Bad service. Hair dresser late, unnoticeable haircut and color total bill was over $300. Are they kidding!!! I was in total shock. This is not my first time that I got a haircut and highlights. I have never seen a bill nearly so high! It turns out they overcharged me. But, they did not correct the bill immediately. Even at the $180 which it was supposed to be it was worth it. This have been a horrible experience! Overall: no one even notice that I had a haircut. It was a simply hair trim, the color was an average. I would not recommend to anyone to use Kenzo anymore. I never take the time to write reviews but I just got back from kenzo and I'm so impressed I had to! My stylist Mary gave me a foil, cut, blow dry and she was EXCELLENT! She has a pure talent for knowing what style/color looks best on you. I'm absolutely thrilled with the results!!!
