This IS where you need to go to accomplish either Check it out before the seasonal menu - decor are gone Popped in here Tuesday (mostly to sit beside the decor) & for a holiday coffee with a small bite. The moment you walk in you're engulfed in kitschy decor and... it's GREAT!! My server was so nice. Showed me their standard menu & the holiday menu. Even pointed out there was an upstairs ((which wasn't aware of)) I placed my order: peppermint mocha & a sausage egg cheese croissant. Neither disappointed! This place was also down the block from our Airbnb so we could walk there. They had a lot of boozy coffee drinks and I really like that. I decided to try their Espresso Martini. This was our last bar stop prior to going out to dinner with friends. My drink had a house made espresso, Absolut vodka, Borghetti (coffee liqueur), a rich simple syrup, and coffee beans. My drink was rich and delicious and I absolutely loved their espresso. I do not recall what drinks my friends ordered. By the time we were leaving there was plenty of people in the place and appeared there was some sort of event gathering. We will have to come back here and with all the coffee drinks they had this may well be the place to start our day next time.

An usher approached and offered the option of a complimentary upgraded ticket closer to the stage, which was a nice surprise. Truly feel there are no bad seats in this venue and sometimes bring my small binoculars to see if I'm missing anything (typically I'm not), but usually just sit back and enjoy the great audio quality with no complaints. My only grievance is toward fellow seemingly entitled, self-absorbed, impolite patrons who arrive late for the shows, typically with phone flashlights turned on bright who clumsily attempt to find their seats. They seem oblivious to stomping over other patrons in their quest to access seats they had selected in the middle of the row, loudly talking, and flashing blinding lights around. Rude, Rude, RUDE. I wish theaters would institute holding patrons at the door for specific entry into the theater as a group, perhaps 15 minutes into the show. Also, if you're 30 minutes late to an only 1-hour show, it'd be nice if it was either denied entry or perhaps directed to the back rows of the venue. End of rant. :)

Everyone mentions the ceiling and the faces, which are incredible, but there are so many more details to take in: castle-like doors and faux fireplaces, tile work, angelic statues and a starry sky ceiling in the main theater. Also, the Marquee Lounge is a great place to get pre-show drinks and snacks while also giving you a closer look at that ceiling.

I have now been to several shows through the years at Mercury Ballroom - it is high time for a…read morereview! The pros - - no bad seat in the house, but if you're ground level general admission be prepared to stand with us plebs. Seats are for the VIPs and folks who need the accommodation upstairs. Such is life. - Mercury Ballroom is maybe the most intimate large music venues in town. Downstairs GA gets right up by the stage and even 'the back of the room' is only ~20 feet away. - Tickets here are typically quite reasonable. Watch for the $25 show promos that happen once or twice per year. - Friendly staff! - Access to snacks and beverages upstairs and downstairs. - Upstairs accessible by stairs or elevator - Coat check available. The cons - (not their fault, no stars taken) - I struggle to find a selection of great meal options pre-show right now in this theater district part of downtown. Shout-out to the pizza guys down the street for filling my belly pre-show, you're real ones!

But this venue is about as good of this type of venue as you could hope for. It's clean and has a very good sound system. A lot of good acts come through. As it's true throughout the industry, ticket prices are getting crazier all the time. And there are actually options for seating that come at an additional inflated price. So you can drop a lot of money here in a very short period of time. But I've seen a lot of good shows here and will continue to do so.

I'm genuinely disappointed writing this review…read more On Sunday night, I stopped into 3rd Street Dive and had a great time. The bartender was snarky, but it felt ironic and playful -- classic dive bar energy. No issues at all. I even suggested we return Monday night with coworkers. For context, multiple bartenders at the first bar we visited that evening warned us not to go to 3rd Street Dive due to past negative experiences. I brushed it off because my Sunday visit had been fun and I thought they just didn't like the dive bar vibe. Monday was a completely different story. The bartender was openly hostile from the start -- yelling and swearing at customers, aggressively confronting people for briefly being on their phones, and creating a tense, uncomfortable environment. Demanding no one stand at the bar while we were trying to pay our tab. The situation escalated when he intentionally and aggressively threw a drink on one of my coworkers. This was not an accidental spill in a packed bar. It was deliberate. At that point, it stopped being "dive bar attitude" and started feeling volatile and unsafe. There's a difference between edgy and unprofessional. Sunday felt edgy. Monday felt unpredictable and uncomfortable. Louisville has too many great spots to risk spending your evening somewhere that could escalate like that. I hope ownership takes a serious look at what's happening behind the bar. I won't be returning.

I have accessibility needs, and when I arrived they told me I'd have to pay $5 cash to park (which I didnt have) in a handicapped spot. It felt frustrating, especially since I drove myself and couldn't just park farther away and walk. After some discussion (thankfully, my friend spoke up), they waived the fee, but it seems like that's the default expectation, which isn't ideal for people with mobility challenges. Also, the venue itself isn't wheelchair accessible, so that's something to keep in mind. That said, the event itself was fantastic. You should definitely arrive early because most of the seating is on one level, and if someone tall sits in front of you, you might struggle to see. There is a balcony area for extra seating, though. The bar is on the pricey side--a soft drink in a 12 oz cup is about $3--but they do offer some alcoholic beverage specials. Overall, I love the storytelling events and will probably keep going, but I hope they improve their accessibility policies in the future
