A surprisingly cool setup for live music. The weather cooperated during my visit, which made for a very pleasant night.

Now to my review; I've waited to write this review until I experienced it a few times. Now let me say, This Is Not Your Typical Karaoke. You perform with a live band and they are talented! So if you sing or not come check it out. Many venues to choose from, Jeffersonville River Stage; (by the way it's tonight) or Iroquois amphitheater and Wick's pizza at Goose Creek or New Albany In. Check the link for dates and times. By the way Iroquois amphitheater and Wicks and Iroquois- has tap brews with a semi full bar, plus Cheeser's food truck. All venues I've attended have clean facilities especially Iroquois Amphitheater. Kentucky of parking lots except The River Stage is mostly street. I will attend again. You can sign up ; on line or there is a kiosk. Side note; Iroquois had a few under 21 singers but none seen at Wick's. That's not a problem for me because everyone should have an opportunity to join in. I must say I will be performing tonight (just a little plug for myself from 7 till 8 as a warm up for the main show). If singing is your thing or just looking for something to do before heading out for the evening, come check it out you my find a little liquid encouragement will have you singing. Love the concept.

It all started off as trying to offer something new with crowd engagement for our employees to cut loose. Once we reached out to FCK, we received nothing but hospitality. All of the band members are genuinely great people, and they encouraged everyone to participate. You don't have to be a good singer to get up and sing with FCK. They will help you through the entire thing, and the concept behind this is amazing! Our CEO was very impressed with the band, and how engaging they were with our employees. 1,000/10 all around! Cannot wait to work with FCK again in the future!

Unfortunately, this visit the only positive was the food. It was as good as our first visit. This time, service was slow and not near as attentive as our previous visit. I ordered a beer and it was out. I asked for a "taste" of an alternate beer. Our server disappeared for quite sometime. When he finally came back, he had forgotten my beer. We then ordered and it took forever for our food to arrive. Once our food arrived everything started to smooth out. We were about half way through our meal and they opened a whole wall of overhead doors. It's 11:45 in the morning, temperature in the upper 60's and wind blowing at about 20 mph straight in the doors. ONE table asked to open the doors totally disregarding the numerous other patrons. Keep in mind the patio was open, these customers could have eaten on the patio. The wind was extremely chilly and our napkins were blowing off the table. I mentioned to our server we didn't want the doors open and we were uncomfortable. He just grinned and said "It is a little cold" and kept walking on by. About 15 minutes later he came back to our table to see if we needed anything. I once again protested the door being opened made us quite uncomfortable. This time he spoke to someone and they closed the door on our end. By this time we were about to leave. One person in our party said had they opened the door before we got our food she would have gotten up and left. A real shame they totally changed our opinion from the previous positive to a real negative this time.

We attended the monthly Moth StorySlam hosted here at Headliners by our local public radio station…read more These occur regularly usually on the 4th Tuesday and we purchased our tickets online, although a limited number might be available at the door for an increased price. Ten storytellers have 5 minutes on stage to address the topic of the evening. Tonight's topic was "Revenge" with many inspirational stories referencing ultimately "choosing peace". The highlight of the show was getting to see local comedian, Mack Dryden, perform his unique wry schtick in unparalleled storytelling style. He brought down the house with his saga of battling squirrels while living in California. The venue has a small parking lot in front of the building, a larger parking area next to the property, and large amounts of free on street parking along Lexington Road and the surrounding side streets. Doors opened and lines moved quickly through security for bag checks, ticket scanning, and locating a seat. There were rows of folding chairs in front of the stage as well as 2 to 4 seat small pub tables placed along the walls. There is also an overhead balcony viewing area with tables and chairs. We did notice an odor in the building that was a bit offputting at first and then I suppose we eventually became nose-blind. It was a hint of a musty, urine, spilled beer, dive bar mix. We also exited the building around 10:30 PM following the show and were slammed with the familiar Butchertown pig slaughterhouse odor and almost ran to our cars to make our escape. Restroom was large, clean, and fully stocked. Large bar area near the back of the room. Easily able to see the stage from any vantage point in the large space. Audio was fine. Would love to return here for future events, including The Moth.

I have accessibility needs, and when I arrived they told me I'd have to pay $5 cash to park (which I didnt have) in a handicapped spot. It felt frustrating, especially since I drove myself and couldn't just park farther away and walk. After some discussion (thankfully, my friend spoke up), they waived the fee, but it seems like that's the default expectation, which isn't ideal for people with mobility challenges. Also, the venue itself isn't wheelchair accessible, so that's something to keep in mind. That said, the event itself was fantastic. You should definitely arrive early because most of the seating is on one level, and if someone tall sits in front of you, you might struggle to see. There is a balcony area for extra seating, though. The bar is on the pricey side--a soft drink in a 12 oz cup is about $3--but they do offer some alcoholic beverage specials. Overall, I love the storytelling events and will probably keep going, but I hope they improve their accessibility policies in the future
