This is a wonderful cleaners abs has been on the neighborhood for almost 20 years. Lovely owners who call you by name,. They wash and fold, dry clean, take great care with your clothes, and iron your shirts flawlessly, either on hangers or folded, which ever you prefer. They also do tailoring, sewing, blind stitching, and repairs on old but cherished clothes as well. Highly Recommend! read more

My husband and I have brought clothes, suits, and long wool coats for dry cleaning . We have brought pants and a wool coat for alterations . They do a magnificent job each time. The hemming of pants now cost about 28.00 for a regular hem which is a little costly, but they do great work. An original hem would have cost 32.00. I have search for some good alteration places, and Kent is good at what they do. I trust them with my clothes and willing to pay the price. They also are efficient, friendly with great service, and meet every deadline. Highly recommend! read more

Their alterations are the best. I've brought in numerous shirts and pants for alterations and they did an excellent job. The darts, in particular, that were put in the back of the shirts are seamless and nearly invisible. I like the straightforward and honest service. I highly recommend! read more

My husband and I have been using Kent Cleaners since moving to the Richmond District about 9 years ago. They are friendly, efficient, organized, on time, accurate and attentive to the pieces of clothing and do an excellent job with dry cleaning, laundry and tailoring services. We have also asked them to fix clothing items and the mending is so good that you can barely see it when done! They even fixed my daughter's stuffy so many times and make it look almost new! read more

I did enjoy the friendly counter service, the family-run atmosphere, and did not mind $pending more because I'm walking distance from Balboa St. location. But, their ALTERATIONS process is clearly flawed -- it starts with communication from Client to Mrs. Front Manager who commands the counter. She then communicates to the seamstress (her mother-in-law). I believe neither of them, clearly, understand garment-making and neither possesses seamstress skills. I lost a bit of weight and brought a couple summer shift dresses to be hemmed up, along with my long, summer chiffon dress. I had already pinned them to my desired lengths ... how they managed to screw-up the evening dress by cutting it off, so short that it did not even touch the top of my high-heel shoes is BEYOND ME. I tried it on in the store and when I pointed this out to Mrs. Manager she immediately and adamantly argued with me, saying "that is the correct length for your size!" and, there are no refunds! Obviously, this was not the first time she's had to defend herself. She barked some Chinese at the older seamstress and the she left the room. I was near tears when I left, never to return. When I tried the shifts at home I found one hemline was still too long (!?) and both hems haphazard (uneven) altho' no one else but me would probably notice. read more

This business is terrible. The lady was super rude and treated me poorly upon entering the store. She acted like I was bothering her. I am a cross dresser and I brought in a purple bodysuit because the zipper broke. She told me there was nothing she could do, and that nobody could fix it. She acted uncomfortable about me bringing the leotard in. Such a hater! I took it down the street to young's right next door to Burger King on Geary and she fixed it for $20 and didn't act all creeped you. I hope covid puts this place out of business!! read more

Suzie and Kent Cleaners are our go-to for all regular & emergency cleaning and repairs. They have revived fabrics and removed all types of stains. If they can't do it, they tell me. A couple times they said they weren't sure but they'll try. Both times, they removed it perfectly. They're pleasant to work with, too, and flexible. If I need a repair and it's fast, they even do it on the spot. They rock! read more

Went here for roughly two years, and though expensive - I continued to go even after I'd moved further away UNTIL I brought in some pants to be hemmed, got them back the next week seemingly un-touched and told them to try again since they were still 3 inches too long. They said sure - but then wanted to charge me again for the process. I mentioned I'd been a weekly client for two years and the tailoring clearly hadn't been done, so I felt I was right to request that they do it properly. They said - nope - that'll be another $15. So I said nope - pulled my clothes and switched dry cleaners. Saddened me because I'd sent other people to them, but it was one of those permanent instant break situations where they clearly don't want your business enough to live up to the quality of their work. Decided not to write this review right away because I thought maybe I was too frustrated, but it's been almost a year and I still feel this way - so I'm letting it out now. read more

I had a mold problem in my closet - didn't deploy "Damp Rid" in time. I took a suede jacket and a cloth coat to Kent cleaners since they are the closest to me that does leather. The woman at the counter was so rude - she acted disgusted like mold is unheard of in S.F. She charged me an extortionate amount, $85, for the suede jacket. Like an idiot, I paid it. I should have shopped around. When she curled her lip at my cloth coat and quoted me $25 I said never mind, I'll go across the street. Sure enough, the friendly woman at Crystal Cleaners 2 (will review separately) charged me $12 and didn't act like it was such a horrendous deal. Kent Cleaners is obviously doing well, but I will never darken their door again, and I urge you to patronize Crystal Cleaners instead. And if you have leather, shop around. BTW, I got the mold off of my vintage motocross jacket using leather wipes from Target. read more

Great service and great quality. I have brought a variety of items to them and each time they have come out perfectly. There is nothing that I would not bring to be cleaned. Prices are fair considering the quality of work. I have also had items hemmed and they were done perfectly. As you can see, I highly recommend this place. read more

Came into her store and asked if she offered any type of discount if I came with a lot of clothes to dry clean (I sell clothing) was very respectful and don't know what I did but the lady at the front treated me like I was just loitering at her store and not trying to give her business. And when I tried to communicate she kept cutting me off and laughing at me? I felt extremely disrespected and do not recommend anyone try to do business with them. read more

KENT CLEANERS is absolutely horrible. I was charged $15 to take up the shoulder on a dress I've never worn before and they completely ruined it. It was a last minute alteration however not only did they do a sloppy job but they sewed it backwards therefore I cannot wear it. When I called to complain they only offered a$5 refund!!! They should refund in full and pay for the dress that was brand new. I am very disappointed with their customer service. read more

Susie and the team at Kent Cleaners are amazing! I've been taking items there for years and don't understand the reviews bemoaning the pricing (you get what you pay for in this world, people). The beauty of what they do is give you Penninou level dry cleaning at a mom & pop rate. They can do a swift turn around if need be and they do decent alterations (they took in a few Brioni dress trousers for me after I'd lost weight and they came out very well). Looking for pros who can not only clean but alter your nice threads, then look no further. Tell 'em Rod sent ya read more

BEWARE OWNER IS VIOLENT AND RUDE. Wow so this was about our 4th visit there and the owner has a personality disorder. Seriously. On my last visit they broke the zipper in a favorite shirt. I was asking them to repair it - I had called her attention to it last time - but last time I was picking up cleaning it was to rush back home for step-dad's funeral so no time then to deal with and she and I agreed I would bring the shirt back. So today the guy totally blows up. My husband and I were both there and he literally was shouting (not in English) and it was his wife and daughter and the wife starts crying and tries to pass it off like she is sick - but she was afraid - so was I. He had a completely VIOLENT outburst right there in the store even though we said we would pay for the zipper repair - just wanted it done. Then he throws something and runs into the back yelling and cursing - he screams at me to take my clothes and go and was physically shaking he was so upset and was red in the face and spitting he was so angry - over a zipper we said we would pay for. My husband said he was freaked out too - the guy just totally lost it. I will never go back there again - I had an adrenaline rush - we both did - total flight or fight from his outburst. He was rude to us - horrid to his family and lacked any semblance of customer service - plus I would not give my money again to a man that frightens his own family - if this is what he does in public I can only shudder to think what happens behind closed doors when no one is looking. read more

I hate dry cleaning. It is one of those things that I put off as long as possible. Next thing I know, it is 2 days before some event when I realize that my ______ has some schmutz on it from some unfortunate accident with ______. So usually, when it comes to dry cleaning, it is all about convienience. I have no idea whether I am getting ripped off by the cleaners, but I am way too lazy and car-less to do research about this. Kent fits the bill with regards to service (with a smile!), results (the latest batch involved an overzealous episode with a chocolate fondue fountain; it was bad), and convenience (open til 7:30p M-F, til 5:30p Sat; some have already mentioned the parking spot in front reserved for quick pick-ups). Pricewise, I have no clue....the last bill for a long wool winter coat, a suit jacket and pants, and another pair of dress pants came to about $40. Minus .5 stars each for: 1) Not calling me after I left my last order there for 3 weeks. So most cleaners never do this, but in my perfect world, cleaners would do this for forgetful clients like me. 2) Those Jesus pamphlets that they have sitting out in front of the register. Not to be a hater of Jesus or people who love Jesus, but I like to avoid all forms of evangelicalism because I don't need any further reminders that I am going to Hell. read more

These people fold my socks for me. Therefore I love them very much. I've been hauling my filthy laundry to Kent Cleaners for ages. They all chime out my name in chorus when I come though the door. That makes me feel special. My dirty unmentionables come back clean and fresh, and individually folded and wrapped. My shirts somehow have the foul drooled foodstains removed from their fronts. These are really, really wonderful people. Given the option of spending a long afternoon sharing space in the laundromat with a host of disgruntled others and a slightly disturbing homeless man who continually picks his nose and stares at you, or taking my bag o' rags to Kent Cleaners and being cheered as I walk in the door, you can bet that I'm always going to go with that second alternative. read more

WARNING: This review is not for the easily disgusted. Yesterday was Prez Day and I had just bought my first pair of Paige Premium Denim jeans and realized that every alterations place was closed for this govt holiday. F***! As I was driving home from J-town, it happened...in the words of the great Margaret Cho, "I HAVE TO SHIT RIGHT NOW!" I thought. I was was felt like millions and billions of blocks away from home and Geary was really trafficky that day...so I decided to take the backroads to my apt. And there before me...Kent Cleaners with it's doors wide open and a temporary parking spot vacant right in front for me to park it and run inside with my designer jeans. As I ran in, there was a sweet Asian lady who I felt comfortable with to alter my expensive pants and then I asked, "May I PUH-LEAZE use your restroom?!?" The lady saw the panic in my eyes and understood my pain. After using the restroom, (and I really don't think I should go into any detail), I came back to the front feeling refreshed and ready to get these jeans shortened to fit my bod and go home knowing I would be back on Thursday to pick them up. I can't wait to look fabulous! read more

This is the worst dry cleaner's in the Inner Richmond. I gave them a chance more than once, but they always proved the most expensive in the area - by at least 50%, and without any good reason. They seem to come up with their prices on the spot, based on the gullibility of the client. My last drop was when I brought a pair of jeans there the other day to put a patch on. '$10', the Chinese woman said (or perhaps she was Korean). "And $7 for the little one" (there was another tiny hole in the jeans). I already agreed when she said, "I have to wash them first. Five dollar". OK... "And take this stain off. Another five dollar". I kind of thought to myself, those jeans were nice, but these days at H&M $27 can buy you a new pair. Or a lot of washes and dry cleans - at another dry cleaner. Bye-bye, Kent. read more

Well, it is true that the staff is friendly. No doubt. However, when someone is smiling while they are charging you triple for doing a half-ass crappy job, it doesn't make it worth it to go there. They are very expensive, take far longer than their sign advertises (same day?) and are completely unapologetic when they screw up. They lost My boyfriends button from his vintage jacket, and although the jacket looked good, the reason we brought it in was a smell that was on it. It smelled exactly the same. The woman told me, "cat pee no come out, I tell all customer to air out." When I asked her why she didn't tell ME that, she just shrugged. She repeated that they NEVER lose buttons... despite the fact that both my boyfriend and I know it was there. Anyway, the long and the short of it is...there are many fish in the sea of Chinese Dry-cleaners in the inner richmond... no need to bother with this one unless you just can't walk another block. read more

Convenient hours and they're all high-tech-y: the receipt has a barcode and they scan it to retrieve your stuff. They have 8x10 portraits of all the American presidents on the walls, and it wraps all the way around the room. I can't explain it, but I love it. read more

Great local cleaner to drop and run to. Service is always friendly and yes, it's cute. One of these days I'll get on the polaroid hall of fame, I swear it. If you drive up, there's a quick 10 minute spot in front of the cleaners that will allow you to go in and out no worries. read more

Susie is one great Small Business owner. She has been friendly and helpful for as long as I have lived in the neighborhood. I have not found a flaw in her work, yet and I have used her regularly for 2.5 years now. She gets stains out of my clothing without me even pointing them out. I understand that should be expected out of a great dry cleaners, but her customer service is also very good. She has altered pants, suits, and dress shirts & consistently is able to get the perfect fit. Strongly recommend! read more

Woo-hoo for Kent--these people know my name, ask if something happened to my bf since doesn't have as many dirty shirts lately, and most important, they do a great job with the drycleaning. Not cheap, but not overpriced--the 10min. zone in front makes it all worthwhile. read more

This place is awesome! They treat my laundry like it was their own and they are truly masters of the stain removal. I should know because it's my unconscious goal in life to stain every piece of my clothing with something horrible. Whatever I've gotten on it, they've gotten it out. Plus, they fold my clothes and wrap them up all neat like nobody's ever done. I don't know what your days are like, but I appreciate this little bit of self-indulgent pampering. After all, that's what my money is for - to make my life enjoyable! Do yourself a favor - check these guys out and you'll be one of the converted before you know it! read more

If you are looking to get your clothes clean, this place it not the place to clean it but to keep your clothes just like when you drop them off. Don't go there, they pay no attention to your clothes. read more

I have tried to like this place, but they are terrible, especially for alterations. I have taken 2 pants there to take in and both times, they were the exact same when I got them back (i.e. they were not taken in at all!!!) The first time, she at least admitted she did not take them in and then fixed them, but the second time she denied it, so I paid (and not the cheapest) to have nothing done. They are incapable of doing alterations but will charge you for not doing it with no remorse or doing a crappy job. I brought in a pair of sequin pants to be shortened, which I know is difficult, so I asked her first if she could do it and she said no it was too difficult, which I respected, so I left and after I left she called and said she could do it and just sew up the pant cuffs for me. I was like uh no thank you. If I wanted that I could do it myself! Plus, they had sequins on them so they were heavy, if she just sewed them up without actually shortening the pants it would look so bad. Terrible! Go to Ma's alteration on Clement St...they know what they are doing and do a great job. read more

Kent Cleaners is great! Been coming here for about 2 years. Friendly service, good prices, and quick service. I had them tailor a couple sets of pants once and after not being 100% thrilled with results, she made two more modifications to it free of charge and the final result was perfect. read more

Wonderful dry cleaners and laundry service. Clothes are well taken care of, customers treated with care and respect, expert tailoring services in addition to meticulous handling of clothes and incredible professionalism. Attention to covid precautions and cleanliness is stellar.I have moved all my clothing needs to this business as none of the others I was using come close to the care I receive from this owner. I do not have to worry about my clothes being damaged which has not been true with other cleaners I have used in the pac heights area of town. I also object to reviews about cost. This group is actually reasonable in costs and, in fact, a bit less that other cleaners whom do not do as good a job as this cleaners and all purpose clothing business offers read more

with Kent cleaners there's only one way to describe them: You pay for what you get. This is not your typical can't-speak-english-we-likey-you cleaners. It is a little pricey..but You save on the long run. How? They take care of your clothes like no other!!! whether its an vintage-antique dress or just a regular shirt, they treat it as the same: with excellent care and meticulous detail. As for the service...just one thing really says what type of personel work there. I left money accidently inside my pockets...and they returned it!!! They even bring my clothes outside for me ! Wow... spoil me too much guys^^ And i don't know any other cleaners who recycle their hangers and wrapping, when you bring it back to them. They even use organic solvents. i dunno... if it's green and with service like that...i'd pay read more

Kent Cleaners just doesn't get it. I and my roommates used them for a couple of years because they were convenient but after fading a couple silk shirts (how on Earth did they manage that? they'd been cleaned elsewhere--no problem) and making a big deal about small untreated stains and trying to charge for little things that other cleaners do as a matter of course, I started to have doubts altho' they seemed nice and professional. So one day I'm talking about how my coat came back pressed wrong and my roommate jumps up and runs to show me her pants, then my boyfriend, G. complained about some shirt he'd sent them that came back, also, unsatisfactory. "Really?!" I didn't know G was taking his clothes there, too! Anyway, the last straw was when I took a great thrift store gown to have it hemmed 1" shorter. The Mom did the measurements and kept saying it's too long, and I kept saying but I'll wear it with taller shoes. Well, she took off #@&! THREE INCHES and ruined it for me. Yup. I'm a little slow ... it only took two years to realize how bad Kent Cleaners really is. Now use QUONG SING at 465 7th Ave and LOVE IT. It's a tiny Mom & Pop store, casual but run with great attention to detail and their prices are incredible ... they must not have changed it for 20 years. read more

I've been coming hear since Soap Box Cleaners moved their shop to Geary about 6-8 months ago. I go every 2 weeks or so to drop off shirts/slacks for work. On one occasion, they gave me back a $90 dress shirt with a very light yellow colored stain about 2" in diameter and claimed it was already there on the shirt. Not the case and there was no point in arguing it so I threw the shirt away. I should have learned my lesson then. On a different occasion, they called me after I dropped off shirts for cleaning and 5 minutes later she called and said the sweat stains on the collar were "too dirty" to be cleaned in water i.e. laundered, and that I'd have to pay an extra $7.50 so that they could dry clean them. Now, I'm not running marathons in these shirts, so said sweat stain isn't anything beyond normal wear from walking around the office. I mentioned that my shirts always have a bit of a sweat stain on the collars and she said that last time she dry cleaned them and gave it to me for free. I asked, "what about the other 10 times I've dropped off shirts with the exact same sweat ring on them? Did you comp those every time without telling me?" Her response "Ya ya ya I'll hold them for you okay?" That's not the answer to the original question. If you think I'm going to believe that you comped me every time I stop by your store until now, when they suddenly needed an additional dry cleaning this time around, you're out of your mind. I am surprised at the range of ratings in these reviews. I have been using Kent for many years and when we moved from San Francisco to Marin County three years ago, I insisted on continuing to use them. The price is way too high here. I came to this place after I just moved in to this town. I think I paid more then forty dollars for a dry clean. First I thought that just the price of San Francisco. But later on I found out it's not. It's just their price. read more

I think it's a testament that this place has received no less than 4 stars (at the time of this review) in any of their reviews. This place does quality work with a smile. I've had several slacks let in and out through the years and they do such quality work from the matching of the stitching to the color of the thread, although you may pay a little more for it. I don't do dry cleaning that often but when I do go in they still remember me, and their wall is filled with pictures of customers form the neighborhood which shows how much of an allegiance the neighbors have for them. read more

SO, SO OVERPRICED! If you call and ask, they will tell you it costs $2-somthing to launder a dress shirt. Sounds right. So I drop off four shirts, and they charge $20 ($5/shirt). Why? Because the shirts are so small they "must" iron them by hand. Come on. I'm 15"/33", which is not doll-size. And I've been laundering dress shirts for longer than I care to admit, and have never had any place insist on charging extra because my shirts are too small. Oh here is the kicker: once I realized that they were charging so much, I asked for the shirts back, and was told they were "all mixed up" with their other shirts. So I'm paying $20 for a $9 laundry job. Learned my lesson. I will never use this overpriced place again. (All that said, my shirts look fabulous. ) read more
