Needed a steel plate bumper sandblasted of it's old paint, epoxy and powder coated. Called around many puget sound coating businesses and found Ken's in Tacoma. Most of the shops near my home in Seattle were asking for $350+ for the job. I spoke with a nice lady on the phone initially and was told the turnaround time would be a week, or less if I needed the job done quickly. Ken's is only open M-F and closes at 5 but they do sometimes work Saturdays if they have to. When I arrived at their facility I spoke with Allan who quoted me $250 for sandblasting, epoxy and powder. Initially he said it may take 2 weeks but may be done in a week if he can. Less than a week later Allan told me the bumper was done and ready for pick-up. The whole transaction was quick and the quality of work is really nice. They plug up all the threaded holes before coating. Finish came out with a medium texture black which looks really nice. None of the little crevices were missed. Now I'm a little hesitant to take it through the bushes because it looks so good! I'd recommend Ken's. They specialize in coating anything from auto parts to industrial/commercial pieces. Talk with Allan personally and see if he can beat the price of their competitors. read more

Took a set of rims to Ken's for powder coating. The team working there was extremely friendly, knowledgeable and professional. They offered a very competitive price and the turn around was faster than expected. Was more than pleased by the job they did on the wheels. Do not use this place! Showed up in person to drop off my roll cage. I was told it would be done in 10 days. After two weeks I went down there. They hadn't done it yet. Said it will be done next day. I call the next day still wasn't done. Told him I was coming to pick it up. On the way there they called me and told me that they messed my cage up and that they had to do it all over. I told him I was on my way down to see it and they already sandblasted it down. They said come back next Monday to pick up. I called Monday. No response. Finally got a hold of someone on the phone. They said they messed it up again. They were using my personal powder to spray and they wanted to do it a third time. I told him don't bother just sandblast it. I will pick it up. They said it would be sandblasted the next day. Next day I called no response so drove down. It still wasn't sandblasted. I told him to call me when it was ready. A guy named Chris called me with an attitude saying are you coming to get this? I told him I was waiting for his call and said I'm on my way now. When I arrived looked at the cage and they was still blue paint all over it. They didn't even get all the glue off after messing it up. Chris said I'll give you your money back if you don't write a bad review. I took my cash, my cage and my powder and left. I will never recommend this shop to anyone. The shop had poor customer service, they do not call you and tell you when they make mistakes. Deadlines take too long after they make mistakes they do not clean it all up. I went to another shop. Front line on 56th and S. Tacoma Way, they had the thing sanded and done next day. I would highly recommend this shop instead! If I could give zero stars to Ken's I would! read more

I just got my wheels done at "Ken's Powder Coating" and these guys organized the whole thing. They have an agreement with Tiny's Tire service a block away., So I came in with my car at Tiny's at 7:30am, they took off the wheels and tires, and took them over to Ken's for Powder coating... they did the wheels in HIGH GLOSS BLACK... absolutely gorgeous!!! I dealt with ALAN and his son Alan Jr... as they are the owners of Ken's Powder Coating. I should note that after the first bake on of the Powder, there were flaws so Alan Jr. redid them to perfection. Most company's would have done the Powder and called it good, not these guys, they judged their own work and decided to do it again... excellence all around. I paid Ken's $500 and Tiny's $195 for my 2022 Audi Allroad with black optics package, so these wheels really finish the BLACK look. I had the balancing weights at TINY's put on the far inside of each rim so as not to see the weights. All done in ONE DAY. read more
