D&G Auto Repair

D&G Auto Repair

5 Stars - Trustworthy, Professional, and Woman-Friendly Auto Shop!…read more I found D&G Auto Repair thanks to the great Yelp reviews, especially from other women. My longtime mechanic had retired, and I wasn't sure where to go next until I discovered D&G Auto Repair on Yelp! In August 2025, I brought my car in for brake service (pads and rotors replacement). From the very beginning, I felt I was in good hands. Paulo, the manager, responded to my Yelp inquiry almost immediately. He was professional, kind, and attentive. He listened carefully to my concerns and explained everything in a clear, respectful way, something I truly appreciate. I felt a strong sense of trust that he genuinely cared about my car and my safety. When I arrived at the shop, Paulo was just as professional and kind in person. He made me feel confident in my choice to use to D&G Auto Repair. After I left my car, he followed up via text with an estimated bill before starting any work, which gave me peace of mind and control over the process. The shop itself is small but clearly run by expert technicians, and the waiting room is clean and comfortable, a nice bonus! I returned yesterday with a question about a noise I'd heard. Tony, one of the technicians, came out and personally walked around my car with me. He pointed out how clean it looked and even asked about repairs I had done elsewhere. He gave me a mini lesson on body repair which was surprisingly enlightening. He then gave me directions to the nearest Auto Parts store and Car Wash. That kind of extra care is rare and so appreciated. Overall, I highly recommend D&G Auto Repair, especially for women who are looking for a respectful, honest, and trustworthy place to bring their vehicles. I'll definitely be back!

I wanted to reiterate the 1-star experiences others have had with this place. I am a mechanical…read moreengineer with years of experience of maintaining my cars to over 200,000 miles. When I went there, they took pictures and video of my control arms and brakes and rotors and used scare tactics to tell me that I cannot drive this car as it is a safety issue. I met the owner, i have no idea why I needed to meet him. I had spoken with one of the floor mechanics who showed me a leak from my thermostat. They told me $1300 for brakes, $1700 for control arms, and $1000 for the thermostat... $4000! I drove home (even though they warned me not to), ordered the control arms, rotors, brakes, and thermostat and replaced them all myself. Here are the results: The car has 60,000 miles. The control arms look used like a car with 60k miles should, but they were not anywhere near an imminent failure. Same for the brakes and rotors. The only issue that was important for me was to replace was the thermostat housing... yes, the one that I had taken the initiative to ask the floor mechanic, and the front desk didn't even tell me about! Now, I knew what they were talking about. But I can clearly see how someone who didn't know much about cars would be terrified into hiring them for repairs that really weren't needed. The videos, etc, are all part of the credibility and selling process. Speaking of which, I can tell you that these guys use what's called a "one-call close" sales tactic. Just like at a dealership, these guys know that if a customer walks out the door, 90% of the time, they are not coming back. And, the salespeople are paid on almost 100% commission. That means that if they don't close a sale, they don't eat. They are not interested in a relationship. It was so easy for me to have them take a look at my faulty car and have them come up with a diagnostic result. They seem technically strong, but they seem to be limiting themselves fixing more than what is necessary with insistence of meeting their certification for more work and additional parts; they insist upon replacing other associated parts incurring more expenses on my part. In other word, you will surely get the car fixed soundedly, but with heavier tab for removing the issue; they don't mind the incurring financial burden over their interests in getting more cash flow...I know there are many mechanics have to be paid. I wish that they can be more consumer oriented not to have their skills getting rusted.

On a Saturday morning, we went looking for a few mechanics which were recommended to us. To our surprise, they were all closed on Saturday, and we were told to come back on Monday. We couldn't wait until Monday, so what did we do? We did a Yelp search, of course! Yelp to the rescue!!! The #1 business to appear after our Yelp search was Tony's Auto Service....they have a 4.8 Star Rating! Come on now, an auto service establishment with such a high rating?!?! The New Yorker in us were very skeptical! But we were in a bind, and time was ticking away, so off to Tony's Auto Service we went....it was only 5 minutes away! Yay! So we get to Tony's, and we're told that they're very busy and they can't look at our car right away, as there were two customers ahead of us. They said to leave the car and to call back in 2 hrs. We very cautiously left the car, and went to walk around town and have breakfast. In exactly 2 hrs, Tony called us and said our car was ready! He said come back and we'll discuss what the problem with the car is. We braced ourselves for what it would cost to repair the car. We also braced ourselves for the possible song and dance about what the problem was. Well....imagine our surprise when Tony told us that the problem is NOT an emergency, and didn't need to be taken care of right away. He told us exactly what was wrong, how much the parts would cost, and how much it would cost to get fixed. He gave us the ok to drive back to NY, and advised us to see our own mechanic whenever we got home. What?!?! As out-of-towners, we're not going to get ripped off?!?! Not only did we NOT get ripped off, Tony said there is NO CHARGE for the diagnosics! Now THAT is definitely 5 Star worthy!! We appreciate Tony's honestly and kindness so much. What a nice surprise. There really are honest mechanics still around! Thanks so much! Needless to say, we highly recommend Tony's Auto Service and recommended it to our local relatives. Business cards were taken and handed out!
