This doctor ultimately said one of the teeth might need to be extracted later on. Because it was a significant and concerning diagnosis, I told him I would like to get a second and third opinion, which he fully supported. After some research, my husband found Modern Endodontics of Buckhead. Their website emphasizes "advanced technology," "compassion," and a "patient-centered approach," which gave me hope. Per their website:..."they (modern endodontics of Buckhead) care for each patient from the first phone call all the way through follow-up treatment ....." Unfortunately, my actual experience was far from what they advertise. From the first phone call, the front desk staff--particularly one individual--was very dismissive and unhelpful. I got the distinct impression that she was more focused on her upcoming vacation than trying to help me. I explained that I was seeking an unbiased third opinion and that I already had two recent 3D scans and doctors' notes. However, she was adamant that Dr. Raymond required scans taken only in their office. I completely understand that some providers prefer to use their own imaging systems, and I even offered to take a third scan, if needed. All I asked was that the doctor at least review the scans I had already paid for before making that determination. I also tried to find out his availability to come in for an initial consultation. However, she did not want to put me on the schedule until the doctor had reviewed the documentation I provided. I put effort into sending all these images and information without knowing whether I would actually be seen. Per Modern Endodontic's of Buckhead's website, "Dr. Raymond starts by reviewing your medical history, taking radiographs (x-rays), performing an oral examination, and doing diagnostic tests." Instead, it seems Dr. Raymond reviewed a report from one of my prior doctors--without ever speaking to me, reviewing my scans, or examining me in person. According to the receptionist, Dr. Raymond's recommendation was to extract both teeth and that he didn't want me to have to spend extra money. I was very confused. How could a provider make such a serious recommendation without even examining the scans they insisted were necessary, let alone evaluating me in person? And I much rather keep my teeth as long as I can and spend the money. Making a diagnosis without that interaction is not thorough--it's dismissive. When I asked how he arrived at that conclusion, the receptionist simply said, "He can just tell." When I mentioned that another endodontist believed a root canal was still a viable option for one tooth, she responded, "I don't know. That's just what he said." Trying to get any clarity or meaningful assistance from the front office was frustrating and demoralizing. In the end, my husband pointed out this may have been a blessing in disguise. And I agree. I wouldn't feel comfortable entrusting my dental care to a provider who refuses to review available information or make a diagnosis without seeing his patients-- and whose staff treats patients with such disregard. And I saved $450 for the consultation. Unfortunately, my experience with Modern Endodontics of Buckhead was unprofessional, unwelcoming, and disappointing. I cannot recommend this practice.

Wow! I cannot begin to tell you about the anxiety I experienced scheduling this appointment. I find…read moredental work absolutely terrifying (and that may be an understatement). It took me about a month after my dentist made the referral to even call for the appointment. And now that my problem is resolved, I understand all about the adages concerning a whole lot of worry over something that ends up being nothing. In short, my experience was wonderful. When I called to make the appointment, I expressed my fears. The woman with whom I spoke, I believe her name may of been Paula, quickly reassured me that I had nothing to fear. I hopped on Yelp and also found reassurance in all the positive reviews. When I arrived for my appointment, I was greeted in a friendly way by Brad at the front desk. At the consult, Dr. Waters tried one last effort to prevent a root canal. Unfortunately, the issue was not resolved, and I scheduled the appointment for a root canal. My fear built up again. People talk about root canals like they are life changing, negative experiences. Again, I was terrified. However, I showed up for my 7:15 am appointment. Again, I was greeted warmly. When I was called back to my room, the dental assistant, Mallory, offered me a neck pillow and a blanket, which I quickly accepted. She was kind and reassuring, offering to answer any questions. Dr. Waters arrived, and he, too, had a wonderful manner - friendly and upbeat. Both assured me the process would be quick and pain-free. They were right. The only thing I felt was the numbing shot (and that was not bad at all). I have not experienced any pain or discomfort at all. I kept waiting for the pain to come (even after the procedure), and it never did. I did not just survive a root canal - I thrived throughout it! Great experience from start to finish. Thanks to Dr. Waters, Mallory, Brad, and everyone else for making a terrifying experience a breeze! I am grateful.

He was patient and honest, which I really respect. I'm lucky to have found him, I hope you're lucky enough to read this review and follow through with going to see Dr. Goodman and his team. This is not a deal breaker for me even though I think patients should be given thorough details of everything as any surgery can bring on anxiety. The real problem for me was after. Immediately upon leaving this facility I realized I no longer had my drivers license and I knew I just had it for this appointment. I called and asked if it fell out my pocket during the procedure, the lady who answered told me she would check and call back if she found it. I didn't hear back and they were closed on the weekend so I called again the following Monday. The lady on the phone chuckled and said if they found an ID they definitely would've called me. I was stomped because I knew that was the only place I went that day and my license was missing and I just had it. That appointment was in February, fast forward to now which is June. I get a call from their facility telling me they found my drivers license crammed into their dental chair and asking if I'd like it mailed to me. This immediately raised concerns for me. Why are you not thoroughly cleaning your dental chairs? And why is it that I called twice and nobody checked the chair I laid on? I felt like this was so unprofessional, especially because I went through so much to replace my license. When I expressed my concern it was dismissed, no apologies or anything. I would never give this place my business again and I don't recommend anyone else does until they learn how to sanitize after every patient.
