Chargrilled oysters
Carol W.

Had a wonderful dinner here with our son & family (they are local and come often!). Service was fast and friendly and the food was plentiful. It's an unassuming little place with lots of character and some great artwork. Hubs approved the gumbo (he's picky!) and enjoyed the chargrilled oysters. Granddaughters enjoyed their fried shrimp and mac & cheese, and several of us had shrimp poboys. Look forward to coming back when we visit again!

Boiled shrimp

Kenner Seafood charged me $14.99 a pound for boiled shrimp. I checked with Smitty's Seafood and Fisherman's cove for there PRICE WHICH WAS $10.99 a pound. Don't buy Seafood for Kenner Seafood

Came in for lunch on a Tuesday. No wait - waitress told us the daily specials and away we ordered. They were offering a dozen oysters for $12 ($1 per) so me and my friend got 2 dozen each! Great oysters, great price. Ordered some poboys as well.

This is one of those times I'm completely perplexed with the 3.8 mediocre Yelp rating because the bustling dining room with locals at 4:30 in the afternoon, friendly service, 2023 Gambit Award, Best of New Orleans say otherwise. Oh the nay sayers! But, thanks to my Yelp buddy, Omar, and his recommendation this is our first NOLA stop! The interior screams NOLA's rich jazz history with yearly, framed and signed Jazz Festival posters adorning the walls. The well worn restaurant and the menu speaks to a the love of Cajun cuisine found here. Kenners is a restaurant and seafood market. The array of displayed blue crab - picked, whole and shucked oysters speak to the love of seafood and the local fishing industry. As typical of hubs when he's excited about trying a unique spot, he orders a little of this and a little of that. We had a sampling of all our favorites! Our thoughts: *The tamales, Delta style, were a must for this tamale lover, were the typical cigar size and great! *The seafood Gumbo was on target with its rich dark roux color, yummy shrimp and served Cajun style with half a blue crab and white rice. *The fried shrimp were delicious, perfectly cooked with a nice crispy texture and butterflied. Oh my, just perfection! Loved the jalapeño hush puppies, too - savory not sweet. *The cup of red beans and rice was warm comfort in a cup, seasoned with sausage. *The fried crab claws were slightly over cooked and were the only disappointment. Thank you Omar for the recommendation! We'll return perhaps sooner than later Cheers!

Seafood Platter

My Mom and I had such a great time here. We hugged, laughed and danced with locals and staff we felt like we were with family. The food was delicious and amazing. It was of course a true Kenner experience! It was loud but we enjoyed ourselves. We had to get "to go" boxes. Grilled redfish is my favorite and they did it RIGHT! Moms got the seafood platter consisting of fish, shrimp, oysters, and crab cakes. All plates come with jalapeño hush puppies "I think" and bread and 1 or 2 sides but portions are still quite ample. Parking is around the side so don't get discouraged when you can't park in the front.

As we were leaving the airport, this spot caught our attention because they had **crab fingers**--and as a serious crab lover, I had to check it out! We called ahead to place an order, and the woman who answered was so welcoming. You could just hear the warmth in her voice--classic southern hospitality. The order only took about 5 minutes, which was super convenient. Now, the crab fingers themselves were good, but I wasn't totally in love with the crust or batter. It was much harder than I expected, and that kind of threw me off a bit. While the flavor was there, the texture just wasn't quite my style. Still, I appreciated the quick service and the friendliness, and I'd definitely be open to trying other menu items next time!

Great old style New Orleans seafood restaurant. Boiled crabs are top notch. All of the fried seafood dishes are very good.

Was looking forward to the lemongrass sauce with squash but ended up liking the classic a bit better. There were a decent amount of big crawfish, but my husbands batch was very hit and miss, many were very small and limp, unable to eat about a third of them. Big tables, lots of space. Decent TVs to catch games on. Nice selection of drinks, the mint lychee drink was strong. Service was great.

We got a bunch of appetizers: calamari wings, garlic, fries, and garlic noodles, and they were all great though the garlic noodles were probably my least favorite. Crawfish wise, we ended up getting 5 pounds of the Viet Cajun and 5 pounds of the EZ blend along with sides of corn, sausage and potatoes. Everything was great and had a lot of flavor, and we were pretty surprised by the size of the crawfish. I really enjoyed both flavors though if I had to pick, I would say the Viet Cajun was better and had more flavor. My table had four of us and we weren't able to finish everything. Overall, this spot was delicious and I love all of the variety. I love variety and options, so I will say that I wish there were more flavor options for the crawfish!

Chef Ron's Gumbo Stop is definitely a great stop if you are looking for great gumbo…read more The place has that dive atmosphere pretty much down pat. The service is decent, but the real star here is the food. I went with gumbo and boudin balls and both were very good. The only complaint that I can say is that they added a dollar onto my bill for using my credit card. I would definitely recommend here.

I went with the half oyster po-boy and gumbo combo. The sandwich turned out pretty well, with a good amount of fried oysters that were clearly cooked fresh rather than sitting for a while. Pretty good bread too. The gumbo was a disappointment though. I guess I've spent too much time on the bayou down through the years, because anytime a bowl of gumbo shows up without a scoop of potato salad in it I'm disappointed. Worse still, this gumbo was flavorless, bland and completely lacking of spice. Were it not for the dark color, I would have not been able to tell the difference between this and the sort of store-bought gumbo that comes from a can. The server kept an eye on me and my drink of choice, so props for that. Also, beware going to the restroom here, as the door doesn't seem to lock.

One restaurant that locals constantly recommended to me was Drago's Seafood in Metairie, and now I completely understand why. I ordered the charbroiled oysters along with the crawfish platter that came with crawfish étouffée, crawfish mac and cheese, and fried crawfish. Every single thing on the table was incredible. The charbroiled oysters absolutely lived up to the hype rich, buttery, smoky, and packed with flavor. The crawfish platter was just as impressive and gave me a chance to try multiple Louisiana dishes all in one meal. What really stood out to me beyond the food was the service. The staff was extremely friendly, welcoming, and patient with questions from someone who isn't from Louisiana and still learning the local food scene. You can tell they take pride in both the restaurant and the hospitality. The only downside is parking can get a little complicated because the place fills up fast, which honestly says a lot about how popular it is. Just plan ahead or expect a short wait finding a spot. Overall, this is one of those restaurants that feels genuinely loved by locals and absolutely worth visiting if you're traveling through the New Orleans area.

We order the oysters to start, salmon and a small crab salad and a glass of wine. The wine never arrived, they brought me a large salad with shrimp that cost $24 and it was jest lettuce and 6 shrimps! I asked for Mediterranean and I got Cesar. The salmon was really undercooked so we sent it back and then it was overdone. The oysters which were supposed to be that appetizer arrived mid meal. The place was crowded, cold and loud. So unless you really, really like the oysters there is no reason to go to this place.
