This bakery is terrible. They haven't changed anything in years, and one of the bosses treats her employees terribly. They have poor hygiene habits: icing is left out, employees spread icing with their bare hands, dairy products are left out overnight. A majority of their cookies, cakes, etc. are frozen. Their baklava is a frozen joke; my mum makes way better baklava from my great-ya-ya's recipe from Greece. Kennedy's is not nearly as good as everyone says ( and I am talking about the downtown Kennedy's). read more

No, you won't get a Cronut, a currant scone or macarons in dozens of flavors. You will, however, get a huge selection of fresh, well made, tasty donuts, pastries, cakes and more! Some of my favorites are the regular glazed donuts (much better than Dunkin or Krispy Kreme IMO; more substantial in size and with more flavorful dough), the blueberry cake donuts, the brownies and their signature thumb print tea cookies (with or without nuts). I travel a lot for for and this is probably the best bakery within 50+ miles, definitely worth the stop if you are passing through. My only criticisms would be that they tend to be a little heavy handed with frosting overall and a ordering a custom cake, while delicious and well crafted, can be a touch expensive. Doesn't get any better than this! I live near Cleveland now, but Kennedy's Birthday cakes remain a tradition in my family. A Kennedy's cake was on the table for my grandfathers birthdays, mothers birthdays, mine, and now my children's. I am 36. I do drive 2 hrs for them. I would fly if I had to. There are not many old school bakeries like this left in the country. If you are in Cambridge it is definitely worth a stop. read more

I absolutely love Kennedy's Bakery. You can smell the fresh cooked breads and pastries from across the street and it makes you feel like a kid again. So many treats to choose from that you can't help yourself but to grab a couple of boxes. read more

Kennedy's Bakery on Wheeling Avenue: I was raised on it. Those of us who were born and raised in Cambridge know that Kennedy's is unrivaled. We dream of coming back to Cambridge on visits just to taste the heavenly deliciousness that Kennedy's has always been known for! My personal favorites are Chinese Tea Cookies, Devil Dogs, any cake, egg noodles, pastries, etc., etc. And they will ship! Come to think of it, I have a birthday coming up..... Took a family vacation to Salt Fork State Park lodge, and decided to check out Cambridge's historic downtown. While walking down the street we came across this cute bakery and decided to check it out. I'm glad we did. They had a large assortment of baked goods. From doughnuts to cookies to baklava. We got some glazed doughnuts and a maple doughnut with nuts. They may have been some of the best doughnuts I've had and the girl helping us said they were made fresh that morning! They were very light and airy with tons flavor. The prices weren't bad either at 3-$3.30 so a fantastic price considering how good they were. We'll be stopping back in whenever we're in the area. read more

I grew up in Dayton OH but my grandparents lived in Cambridge. My Mom grew up there. I would visit Kennedys every time I visited my grandparents for so many years. I have fond memories. I now live in California and have never found a bakery as good as Kennedys! read more

We'd been dreaming of going back here! When we did, we knew it'd be later before we got out there so we called and had them hold back some devil dogs and chocolate long johns for us. Sadly they didn't use the same icing the Mr loved on the long johns so he wasn't pleased. We had to try a few other items we didn't get last time so I got a gobbler turkey cupcake, a pumpkin donut and a cream puff bite. He got a cream filled cupcake, pumpkin donut and chocolate puff bite. Sadly despite the loads of icing on my cupcake, the cake portion was really dry. His was the opposite and loved his. We both liked the pumpkin glazed donut. Good spice and a taste of Fall. He was indifferent on the cream puff bite but I liked mine. Wouldn't need to get it again but it was good for a bite, ya know? Despite the long john's being different, they were still good. The devil dogs were good too. He's in love with them, I'm in like. They're basically Suzy Q's with chocolate icing on top. We'll go back I'm sure! read more

I love Kennedy's Bakery. I have lived in cambridge my whole life and it is the best bakery in Cambridge. I love their Cream horns, OMG! They are so good. Another thing they have that i love is their Blueberry yogurt muffin. They use real blueberries and it is so moist it just falls apart in your mouth. Now my husband on the other hand, he loves there pepperoni rolls and crestant rolls. He goes to the backery about once a week and grabs a load of goodies and brings them home. They are the best , if you are ever in town stop by. You will be glad that you did. read more

Okay - their baked goods are average, at best. Maybe for this small town they're the best anyone has ever had but I think if anyone goes out in the world and tries any other bakery they'll think, "Wow that's better than Kennedy's." The REAL ISSUE with Kennedy's Bakery is their Customer Service or.. lack thereof. I've lived in the area for 10 years and on average have gone in for a coffee and a donut probably 8 times a year.. NOT ONCE have I been greeted with anything other than "What do you want" barked at me, let alone a smile... and God forbid you actually have to browse and think about what you want -- and not even when there is a large line and they're trying to get through everyone. I'm talking about when I'm the ONLY customer in there. My advice? Get rid of all of the older women because they're rude and nasty - the younger ones are a bit nicer but seem terrified (probably are afraid of the older women!) and re-staff. read more
