This dog park has a few drawbacks for people with normal and well-adjusted pets: it's in the middle of a traffic interchange for the Queensborough Bridge, is mostly a big gravel hill, and requires crossing a footbridge to get there. Unfortunately for people in the neighbourhood, this replaced what was previously a more pleasant park, which was razed when they redesigned and rebuilt the roads and on-ramps to the bridge a few years ago, and threw the off-leash area into the middle. Now, most other people seem to avoid this dog park. Fortunately for me and my furry problem child, I can usually have the place to myself for a while to give her a good workout. In addition, there is only one entrance gate, which makes it easy for me to keep an eye out for anyone who does come along and wants to use the park; I always leash the dog and give way to the other person when that happens. (In a perfect world, I wouldn't have to do this, but despite whatever her early socialization was, this dog needs to run regularly, so we do the best we can with what we've got to work with.) The gravel and chain link fence and poop mines make the place frankly look a little ghetto-barren. The tiny trees don't throw much shade in the summer, but there are a couple of benches and a water tap (turned off in winter). I also love that from the top of the hill, you get a panoramic view of the Fraser River and bridges and clouds. And as for the traffic, every so often my dog likes to run along the fence to chase the cars and trucks. Hey, whatever burns off the energy. My very favourite part of this weird, ugly, unloved dog park? The happy panting in the backseat on the way home.

The puppy can go say hello while the senior dog stays inside his backpack and everyone is generally very nice and the dogs friendly. There is quite a bit of mud after and during rainy days though so do keep that in mind. We love it here and cannot wait to go walk the perimeter in between rainy days.

This park is wonderful, smack dab in the middle of Couver city and yes it's perfect. There are great views of the south of the city and full of blue skies. Yes the ground gets dry in the late summer. So what, let the hounds enjoy the dust bowl. Yes it does get muddy in the early spring. So what if you can wash your kid you can wash your hound. Water is available at the washroom and there is a water fountain at the pitch and putt.

To start, of all the dog parks i've been to since i've moved here, the people by far are the nicest. they spend a lot of time with their dogs and there are a lot of families here, which is really nice to see. Located just north (i believe) of the airport, there is a large parking lot and a short walk to the beach. there is a path going to the end (which we didn't get to) and while there is a lot of big rock separately the river from the beach, there are substantial cleared areas so the dogs have easy access to the water in several places. As it was so hot there were a lot of dogs in the water - however there was a fairly strong current so i wouldn't advise encouraging your dog to fetch unless they are good swimmers. I met a lovely lady when i first arrived who gave me a layout of the land. she said if i walked there during low tide there was a great area towards the end of the park (you could tell it was the end because there was a pirate sign) where we could walk out quite a ways. will look forward to spending more time there when the weather is a bit cooler!

I think I should write my review based on 2 factors to give a balanced opinion…read more 1) The Facility - It is a big fenced-in off-leash park in the middle of the West End within walking distance for most West End and Coal Harbour residents. For the most part , it is covered with gravel which is great because it drains and does not create messes. There is big patch of bare sandy spot which cause dust clouds when dogs roll over them and it turns into muddy puddles when it rains. 2) People - For the most part, I like the dog owners who share the park. However, there are a significant number of them (through observation over the past 6 months) who do not respect the residents around the park, other dog park visitors nor have any common sense. Many of the dog owners go there, let their dogs loose, talk to their friends, smoke cigarettes and don't pay much attention to their dogs. As such, barking went uncontrolled (causing nuisance to neighbours), defecation was not cleaned up (non-courtesy acts to other park visitors), unwelcomed canine behaviours was not discouraged (potential bodily harm and serious conflicts). I used to take my dog there in mid morning (around 9-10 am) and usually noticed the same visitors. My last time I went there during this hour was when another dog held my dog at his neck. Although the other dog was not biting down but you could tell that it was not a friendly act and my dog was making yelping noises. I tried to separate them but the owner of the other dog did nothing and continued yapping with her friends there. I started taking pictures with my phone as evidence and only then she mumbled "if you can't keep your dog away you shouldn't take your dog to a dog park". I have not been back to the park since at the same hours but I am considering going back just to get the tag number of that dog if I see it again with its owner and send the info including the pictures I took to the City for further actions. I now visit the park either Sunday around 4pm or weekday afternoon around 5-6pm. Awesome and responsible dog owners there.

The big side is only muddy at the edges. Quite a popular park so there are many dogs. Just keep and eye out on your own dog and make sure to watch out for aggressive signs in other dogs.

Stumbled this little place by an accident but I'm so glad…read more First off: the area is super nice. Stunning massive homes. Some are gated. Most are just stunning. Massive beach. You can use the scenic way all the way into downtown. Beautiful drive! Now the park: it's an off leash dog park. I haven't been to any off leash dog parks in Canada except for Whistler. It's a gorgeous dog beach Baci and I love going for swim. Just take about .6 hours drive. Way too far. So glad to have found this. It's a beautiful, hikable dog beach. Baci had so much fun swimming, he went straight to the deep end while most dogs stay on land. He also had fun stealing sticks :P Trick was getting him to leave. He didn't want to at all. The paths are narrow and when it gets busy it's not good for biking. I think part of the park is off leash but not exactly sure about that. It is a dog park though. It has a nice view of the Fraser River and has a bit of a beach, but again for playing fetch with your dog and stuff like that, not really for sunbathing or anything. There are also a few piers that are kinda cool. There is a small parking lot and lots of roadside parking. Like I said, it's ok if you wanna come for a walk, walk your dog or even have a picnic. Not sure if I saw any picnic tables but there are benches.
