I had only wished we had one more day. My group did the Cascade Lake Loop, Cascade Fall's, plus give or take hopping on to another trail to widen the "loop." Day passes are $10 bucks and go off an honor system with completing a short form with vehicle and govt issue ID details and dropping them into a collection box. Plenty of places to park near multiple different trail entrances. The trails are well maintained & the trees are massive. Sugar shack offered up some delicious ice cream during our widening of said loop. There were clean bathrooms and a large playground located near this pit stop. Plenty of entrances/parking to different trailheads can be found along the outskirts. Definitely recommend for anyone taking a vacation on Orcas Island. And as always practice leave no trace!

They staff a little snack shack where you can find limited swim gear and accessories, plus impressive snacks, coffee, ice cream, candy, etc. The lake is a non-motorized boat lake, but they rent out water toys or bring your own float islands and paddleboards. Mt. Constitution is also found within the park and is a must visit! Views into Canada and over the WA coast are to die for on a clear day. Whether you're visiting just for the day or longer, Moran State Park is an oasis worth experiencing!

This isolates it from the street traffic and probably provides a nice noise-free barrier for home owners in the area. The other barrier is a fenced industrial building that you hardly notice because of the trees and shrubs that obscure it from view. If your dog likes to wander off and is not good with name recall, you might not want to take your dog off-leash here because this is not a fully fenced/gated park. There are about 5, free parking stalls on 4th Street. This is also the beginning of a flat trail to the park which winds along a shaded canopy of trees with lush greenery on either side. The short, dirt trail leads you to a wide open area with tall grass. On the perimeter is a crushed-gravel loop that is probably about a quarter of a mile long. Park benches can be found along the way...some in the sun and others shaded by trees. There is another entrance further up the hill on 4th Street, but you have to find street parking. Plus, the dirt trail is steep at this entrance and descends at a 30% grade into the far-end of the park. Not a problem for young spry dogs, but something to consider for seniors with achy joints. There are usually just a few dogs here at any one time, and I've not yet ran into any aggressive dogs or unconcerned, dog owners. Some dogs play with each other in the tall grass, but there is plenty of space for dogs that don't want to play to enjoy exploring the smells in the flora and fauna along the path. I love that this park takes advantage of the natural landscape. The dogs seem to like it too because it provides a nice break from suburbia with an opportunity for both physical and mental stimulation.

There is a faucet on the back of the building across the parking lot. There are now 3 areas: a SMALL dog area, and 2 LARGE dog areas that are separated so that one area can be left to regrow any missing grass while the other area is in use. There is a GREAT agility course, mostly for the Sequim Police K9, but anyone who knows how to use it can. Generally, it's a good idea NOT to bring your small dog into the large dog area. Some large dogs just don't particularly like small dogs in their face. Also, EVERYONE needs to pick up after their dog. ALWAYS keep an eye on your dog to avoid problems with other dogs and people! Rule of thumb is "3 is a crowd" - dogs gang up when there are more than 2 rough housing.

The dog park is separated into three gated areas. The smaller dog area is ample size to accommodate at least 50 dogs and their owners. The larger dog area is also decent in size. Both areas have water stations and covered benches just in case you want to sit down and watch the dogs play. The third area is for agility testing or for dogs to run the obstacle course. I will say that the majority of the dogs that were in the large pen were very friendly and kind of minded their own business. My friend's dog did get scratched in the nose as she entered though, so her nose was bleeding a bit but nothing major. The pens also come equipped with a few dog ball tossers and other toys to keep the doggies moving as well as doggie doo bags. I did sense a bit of community here as well as there were a few posters of dogs that have passed on as well as dogs that were lost were posted and several people talked about the dogs that passed on as if they were their own. Overall, a nice place to just let your dogs run.

The area is decent sized, and even has a separate "small dog" fenced area within the big dog area. It's nothing fancy, and has lots of holes dug up by other dogs over the years. One of the best dog parks in the greater Vancouver area…read more Looking for a place for your best bud to run, chase balls, sniff around, meet various other dogs and humans, catch frisbees, and swim? How about fabulous views of the Fraser river, bald eagles, seals, ducks, herons, Mount Baker, ships, freighters, ferries, tugs, and beautiful sunrises/sunsets? We love this place and have been regulars for the better part of three years. People are friendly, and the park itself is pretty clean, very easy to get to...just take No. 3 Road south all the way to the end and park in the lots. It's completely what you make of it. It can be a quick/quaint 15-30 minute visit, with up to 500m (1km return) of trails on beautiful waterfront off leash space up until the Crown Packaging plant. The plant is easily and decently detoured with an on-leash path that overlooks local farms and the north shore mountains. In addition to the pleasant view, the walk around the plant is worth it because you can find several hundred metres of waterfront trails and additional opportunities to enjoy everything mentioned in the beginning. It can be a 40-60 minute walk including a 15-25 minutes on-leash jaunt (almost 1km) around the packaging plant. If you want more trail coverage, you can venture along the South Dyke trail westward to Steveston and back, an additional 6-10km return trip (depending on how much you explore the historic village) on an unpaved separated path. You can also head eastward towards No. 5 Road for 4.5km return trip, mostly along Dyke Road, but there is some separated unpaved path for a few hundred metres. These additional trails are all on-leash, by the way. Only the two areas east and west of the Crown Packaging plant are off-leash. South Dyke Off-Leash park has a water fountain for both dogs and humans in the west area near No. 3 Road, lots of benches along the way to stop and admire the views, and plenty of trash cans and zero excuses not to use them. It's a great park. Some tips to ensure enjoyment include; 1. There are free bags at the trail marker at the No.3 Road/Dyke Road parking lot. Lots of garbage bins. Please use them. I'd say 98% of visitors already do. 2. Be very mindful of the river conditions before allowing dogs to swim. 3. Be aware of fast bikes. Off-leash areas have separate paths, but dogs wander. On-leash paths can have a fair bit of traffic. 4. Be aware of predators - bald eagles and coyotes, especially in the early morning.
