I was quoted $6200 in repairs. Here's the breakdown I did after buying the parts myself. New tires…read morefrom discount tire were $700, the bulk of the cost. 5qt of oil and a new oil filter is about $65. The new pair of front lower ball joints and 4 new rotors with brake pads and setting brackets was $283. The two replacement rear shock absorbers are $79. Either they're bad at time management, charge exorbitant labor fees, or are just scammers, but last I checked that doesn't add up to $6200. They take advantage of people who don't know much about vehicles and it shows in their prices and reviews.

A few days later it was still smelling of antifreeze so I investigated. There was a leak from the heater hose that Honest Wrench's didn't catch before I picked up the vehicle. I confronted them and said if the technician had taken it for a test drive after the service he certainly would've discovered the leak. Of course I got some B.S. that they always check it. Clearly they didn't finish the job. Also, they are waaay over priced. I called another service after the fact and found Dis-Honest Wrenches was overcharging by $600. I've got to get this place above one measly star! We lived in West Des Moines for a couple years…read moreprior to moving back to Des Moines and frequented this place, most often for gas or coffee. The same guy was always behind the convenience store counter and we would go in so often that he would remember us and what we wanted (not sure if he's still there, also not sure what his name was). Always super friendly. TODAY however, we had to go in for the dreaded car repair. My husband had a mishap with the curb (of all things) and essentially knocked his right front tire completely out of alignment and nearly snapped the control bar, requiring a replacement of said parts along with a tire alignment. This all happened fairly close to the body shop so it was the closest place to get to without further driving/ruining his car. They got us in and out in just under two hours and the car drives like new again. Sh*t happens and it's awesome to have a place like this that actually cares about you, your well-being and the well-being of your vehicle. The mechanics explained everything very thoroughly [though we're both still car-mechanics-illiterate :) ] and made sure we knew what the problem was, what needed to be done to fix it and what the costs were going to be. They even had to order a part and they were still done in 2 hours! For what started out as a fairly terrible experience these guys made it as painless as dropping money on your self-inflicted car wounds can be. THANK YOU! Will return.

Chuck - you have the GALL to accuse me of being difficult & lying. HA! You are the quite prolific…read moreliar in your rebuttal. No surprise after ripping my mom off!!! Don't ever confuse being furious with being difficult! First LIE; Shawn, Bill & Shawn Jr ALL proudly shared with me the new 30K Engine Analyzer they had & would be using to diagnose the reason for the SERVICE ENGINE SOON warning dash light coming on. Second LIE; Yes THAT SERVICE ENGINE SOON is the correct light that was on & the reason I brought my mother's car in. Shawn was aware THAT was the warning dash light that was lit & he even reset it following their unneeded service. Not a CHECK ENGINE LIGHT. Third Lie; I DID NOT MOVE ANY BARREL blocking your carwash entrance & for you to accuse me of doing that is beyond ridiculous. If Shawn is such an honest guy, as you initially touted to me, he would have told you HE MOVED THAT BARREL & then told me to drive in & he'd start the carwash. It never started, not one drop of water was ever released. Shawn even apologized to me saying he was sorry he didn't realize it was not working. I was even told to come back in the Springtime for a free wash. I hope my reviews give future potential customers pause before taking their vehicle to your service center. Again with the false accusations. Any still pictures you claim to have of "a woman moving your barrel" is not me. Ask Shawn, IF he's the honest guy you say he is, he'll tell you the truth, HE MOVED THAT BARREL. YOU however are the height of an unprofessional businessman. Funny how when you texted me pleading with me to bring the car back you stated "I'm not like those other guys, I'm professional & I just want to make it right for you" HA AND by calling a dissatisfied customer a "Karen" immediately identifies you as a immature & hateful MAGA, certainly NOT ANY KIND OF PROFESSIONAL!

After months of taking my car to the dealership for repair after repair without getting to the REAL…read morereason why my car was running rough, I decided to give Joey's a try because of the excellent reviews. They did a very in-depth diagnostic and sent me the results by text, which I was able to open in a web browser. The repair was much more expensive than I had hoped, but at least I knew I wasn't going to get nickel and dimed to death putting "band-aid" fixes on my car. I decided to forego repairs and trade the car in as it was a ten year old vehicle. Joey's charged me for the diagnostics only and never tried to pressure me into anything more. If ever I need another vehicle repair, I'll skip all the hassle and go straight to Joey's, where I know they will be honest and upfront about what needs to be done.
