Customer service is top notch. I got into a car accident and my passanger door wouldn't open fully, guess what? They reached out to me and told me they would help it be functional & they did exactly that, it gets better, he did it completely free, definitely didn't have to do that but also definitely appreciated!! Nick and the service crew helped me out tremendously when I had an issue with my seatbelt from a collision. He spoke to me with honesty and integrity. They were able to get the seatbelt replaced in a timely manner at a great price and get me back to driving safely on the road. Their service was great and better than I expected or could have gotten anywhere else. If you need body and paint work you need to go to Smith's! My son recently had an accident and I got a couple of quotes. There was a difference of $3100 in the quote with Smith's being less! They are so great to work with-taking the time to explain what they would do, options that you have in the repair, overall just fantastic. Very personable. And when I picked up the car they said they were able to do something else which resulted in an additional $500 in savings for me. Wow-how many places do that! Horrendous place to do any business!!!! Where is the customer service these days? Our son backed into our friends car and they chose this place to get it fixed. Chelsea at the front called for a deposit so they can order the parts so we paid over the phone a little more than $1000. They said it would be done about a week and few days. So we rented them a vehicle so they could get around while their car is at Gerber getting fixed. I called to check the status and Chelsea at the front desk says uh yea we are right on track for late this week early next week. (She's a liar) Next day they call my friend to come pick up her car because they haven't even had a chance to look at it. This rental now is $625!!! Adam H. Said he would discount the invoice to make the rental a wash. After emailing him multiple time for a refund on the rental he said we misunderstood him and that wouldn't be happening. I kept emailing him to get an answer of how he would make this right and no response still. Got our refund back on the $1000, but not the wasted rental. I will never recommend anyone to go here. There's a shop with better customer service on every corner. That Chelsea at the front desk needs to do some soul searching and get help before she hurts someone. She is a very angry person and maybe this job is not the right fit for her. Adam needs to learn how to manage his team and their customer service a little better before trying to help people and you don't say things you're going to do and then ghost someone and not do it. They are the ABSOLUTE WORST AND HORRIBLE COMPANY to deal with. If i could rate and give them zero stars i would. The lady at the front desk should be fired immediately for the most horrendous customer service skills i have ever encountered. First off, we had dropped off our vehicle for service in early January 2023 which they said could take 10-14 days to fix so we had rented a car to have during this service time and a week later we get told that they haven't even begun to look at my car and to come pickup and to reschedule service for a future date because they were to busy. I told them that i had rented a car during this time and asked if i would be reimbursed for that since it wasnt my fault that they couldn't get me in for service and they declined to do that because they couldnt they said and so they rescheduled me for service two weeks later and just before i was about to drop my car off again they tell me they canceled my appointment again due to the shop being closed down for remodeling. So now i will be taking my car some place else for better service and it felt so good to let these horrible people have a piece of my mind before i do. They are the worst. They do not care about customers in any sense. read more

I called Smith Body & Paint after hours on a Thursday immediately following a fender-bender (and tire-popper) in a parking garage. Garry Smith was recommended to me by Aim High Automotive (their nearby neighbor and another fantastic local establishment) and I could not have been more pleased with the service and kindness I received following a really negative situation. Garry waited at the office for me to drive my car to him from Downtown Des Moines so I could get it processed immediately. He walked me through the insurance process I would need to go through and assured me that I would be kept in the loop the whole time. It was a seamless experience, both dropping off and picking up my shiny and good-as-new vehicle. While I hope to not have to visit again soon (!!) I would definitely recommend Smith Body and Paint to anyone needing auto body work. They are a fantastic family-owned business and you will not be disappointed! read more
