Had windshield replaced in July. In September, a crack started from the edge. I scheduled a warranty appointment that took ten days to get in. The crack spread during that time. The technician said it was due to another impact not faulty installation. I disagree- I have no recourse. I can't prove it and they can't either- and yet they hold all the cards. The worst part, though, was that they said I had to make a different appointment to get it fixed if it wasn't a warranty claim. I was there- took off work- and because it was a different type of appointment I have to come back? I even offered to pay out of pocket just to get it done, because the crack was in my line of sight. Still, would not fix it then. I took my business elsewhere. Oh- and the lobby smelled. Bad. Like trash and dead mice. Finally- if you want your car warranty to be in effect- it won't be. And they don't tell you that- it takes the manufacturers parts to keep the warranty. With a lease, it's required. read more

Updated: Service tech (Dakota) called at 1:10pm, said he could be at our house at 1:30. Replaced the windshield and was done by 2:15pm. He was very efficient and professional! Editing my rating to four stars (from one) just because Dakota did such a great job. Scheduled an appointment with Safelite - Clive over a week ago. My husband took the morning off because the window for the service tech to show up was from 8am - noon. No call, no show. Called the Safelite - Clive location at 12:05pm, guy that answered the phone couldn't guarantee us a time when the service tech would be able to show up today. We rescheduled for Monday 3/21 in the afternoon - again, a four hour window. Hope they get their act together! read more

Great service, communication, the gentleman that came to replace windshield was very professional

Tech came to fix a tiny ding on the windshield (less than 1mm in diameter), tech then went on to break the windshield beyond repair. Apparently they aren't liable if they break something they're there to fix. Called my insurance company who in turn routed my call to safelite. Turns out through progressive, if you file a glass claim, you HAVE to go through safelite. This is old school scam artist type stuff. Currently changing insurance companies and never going to use safelite again. Addendum to review: The technician who came to the house said these cracks almost never happen, his words "I've seen this three times in eighteen months." When I called into the local safelite location (which isn't easy because it forces you to go to the national number) an employee said these cracks don't happen nine out of ten times. Clearly the tech lied about how often these occur, and after doing research it seems their REAL goal is to force you to replace the whole windshield with substandard glass. If there was some way to give less than 1 star I would, these people literally made the damage worse. read more

(I'm not a machine; why would I want to play phone tree games? VERY POOR for customer satisfaction.) So I went into the store. The man asked how I was doing and I told him it was nice to be able to speak with a live person as I'm an older person who hates machine conversations and phone trees. No response or reaction or compassion from him (a severe "just the facts" or "I'm busy, let's move along, you're a bother" attitude). After answering several detailed questions and being told it would be a couple of weeks before my windshield could be replaced, he told me I couldn't get even a "ballpark" idea of price (a "quote") without making an appointment (I merely wanted a quote, not a commitment!!!). I'd had enough. I told him that they should staff their front desk with someone who cares about and appreciates customers (which he obviously didn't) and left the store. People and companies who treat those of us who are giving them our hard-earned money should show us more respect and appreciation than this. I'll take my business elsewhere, permanently. Scheduled further out than I wanted. 4 hour window like your cable guy. Waited 2 hours and went to get groceries b/c I needed to on my day off. They said 1 hour notice will be given, and called while at the store, and said they would not wait and I needed to reschedule for 4 days later. Classic poor customer service. My front windshield was broken. Called this company got a price set up the appointment. The technician came out with the wrong windshield. He had to go grab the right window...took over and hour and a half. When he got back he stated the windshield would cost almost $500 instead of the $350 that I was told and billed for!!! Had a rock hit my windshield and created a small dent. Had them come out and repair the dent. A couple weeks later I am driving and the dent cracks along the bottom of the entire windshield. I thought they had a warranty for their repairs but I was told "it's not covered" but they couldn't give me a reason why. Called representative to schedule appointment for a whole new windshield was told it was going to be $330. Robert come out today says after he's done will need payment for $330. He leaves and my card is charged $404. Call representative and ask why I was quoted twice for the same amount and was now charged a different amount. Says "I don't know. Maybe they were looking at a different window. Do you have the email quote" and of course no I don't have an email showing what they quoted me at. Later on I found the pre authorization receipt and called back. The first 3 times I called i was told a manger would call me back. Finally, the fourth time a manager called me back and was trying to tell me the same thing as the others but I pointed out the only thing that changed was the labor cost and he said "thats werid" he said he would have to look into and would call me back. He called me back and told me a refund will be issued for overcharging me. It has been 9 business days so ill see if I actually get it or if I have to call again. When I tell others about the whole experience I had to go through everybody always asks "a refund for what they overcharged you? That's it?" It just makes me think, how many people get over charged and don't even notice it or they try to fight it and they tell them the same thing they try to tell me. read more

Vehicle was scheduled to have mobile service at residence - price included trip charge of about $35. Due to weather concerns (imminent rain) the appointment was rescheduled as a drop off at the Clive IA location a day or two later. As we had provided our CC info for the mobile work, we were charged right away following service at the Safelite service center. We discovered we were over charged $60 for windshield wipers we did not ask for. I suspect Safelite did this to make up for the mobile service charge that was lost when the original appointment was changed. As I had just purchased brand new Bosch Icon blades within the last 30 days (which the Safelite technician threw away) I was not happy. We were told we would get a refund but were lied to several times when we called...eventually being told the issue had "been sent to corporate" We never received the refund nor did anyone ever contact us about it. I had a small chip in my windshield. It was there for over a year. Thought I'd get it fixed since my insurance would cover it. Safelite came out to my work place, I met him outside, gave him the keys and told him where it was, He said "Oh I saw it". about 20 minutes later I look out the window and see him repairing someone else's car! I went out and told him it wasn't mine! He said "oh, the keys fit" which I doubt that one was locked. I directed him to the correct car. He said he would get it taken care of. He came into my office about 20 minutes later and said "it broke". Whaaat? "you broke my glass?" He said "yeah but it would have broke anyway once it got cold." NO, It was like that for over a year! It went from a chip the size of a marker dot to a crack all the way across. Anyway,, off he went like it was no biggie. I called the Safelite office and they couldn't have cared less. She said that they will do nothing because a waiver is signed prior that they will not fix it if it is broke. I would have been better off not to do anything to it. The entire office was cracking up that they broke my windshield and fixed another for someone to come out of work and scratch their head as to how their crack was repaired. Today I got a small chip in my windshield that was about the size of a dime "fixed" only for it to completely crack out to about half the windshield less than a few hours later which is unrepairable... now the entire windshield will need to be replaced costing hundreds more. read more

Not impressed. I understand a chip repair won't look brand new, but it shouldn't look exactly like it did when I came in. I had an appointment, but only the front end of my car was pulled into the garage while it was raining. On top of everything else it sounded like the was a party going on in the garage. Needed a windshield replaced...called them...they asked the right questions, I found the answers they needed, they ordered the glass, quoted me a price, came in the next day, they installed it in 45 minutes and charged me what they said they would. Setting up the appointment was easy and they sent an email the day of the appointment but the technician did not arrive within the 4 hour window and called 45 minutes after the time window. When he arrived he was professional and said that the repair process could cause a crack that would require a replacement. It cracked. I wasn't able to get another scheduled time until 5 days later. I called around for quotes and they were the most competitive, so I took a chance and boy am I glad I did! Don't use them! I got a small chip in my windshield in October 2014. The chip had 2 small splits extending from each side. I contacted my insurance company and took my car to Safelite Auto Glass. While they fixed it, by Feb 2015 -4 mo later - the filler they used had washed away. When I called them, they said I would have to have the windshield replaced. What a racket! This is my first Yelp review, and I just wanted to say that the service I received was outstanding. I had my windshield vandalized by someone whom I do not know and never will find out so I was very upset, to say the least, that I had to pay out of pocket for something that I had no control over because my insurance wouldn't cover it. However, I got held up with many various circumstances at work and wasn't able to get back to my car until almost 4:45 (mind you Safelite closes at 4.) The gentleman who took care of my car was the only person left at the store and I could tell he had been waiting there for only me and I felt even worse than I already did for making him wait. He gave me my key, I signed the receipt and we parted ways. I would just very much like to say thank you to that gentleman, and everyone else whom assisted me yesterday. You not only did a wonderful job on my windshield, but you made a very rough situation for me a lot better by giving TERRIFIC customer service. Safelite has replaced both my windshield and a car window, and they did a fantastic job in both cases! After a rock hit my windshield and cracked it, Safelite came to my apartment and installed a new windshield. The technician arrived right on schedule and had the new glass installed quickly. Just this week when someone smashed my car's window, I again called Safelite. It was Easter weekend, but they got my car in right away on Friday and had it repaired quickly. The technician cleaned up all the broken glass in the car and when I picked the car up, it looked good as new! Scheduling appointments and paying for the repairs was also very quick and easy.
