Dr Paradis is the only good thing about the establishment other than the convenient location. I've gone here for over 10 years and left either in tears or completely insulted, every single time. The women in the office is disrespectful beyond belief. I've been called names and refused help. They also demanded I pay a large fee with no reasoning behind it when I was 19 in college and said I couldn't get my glasses if I didn't pay on the spot. I needed my glasses to drive home. It was later discovered the fee was meant for someone else. Don't go here. Take the drive to Portland. read more

First of all, I am 81 years young. Dr. Paradis is a wonder person and an excellent doctor. However, his staff isn't friendly or professional. It all started when I got a statement from them. Well, I have CHAMPVA and knew something was wrong. I never get a bill form anyone and I don't have to p9ay a copay (which I did in June here for some reason). So, I called and spoke with Melissa in billing and she wasn't very pleasant. She said they hadn't paid it. So, I asked her togive me the dates of service and when they were sent to CHAMPVA. I called CHAMPVA and they said they hadn't receivd them. I called Melissa back and told her that CHAMPVA hadn't received them. She was very rude and said "What do you want me to do about it?" I asked her who she thought she was talking to and she replied "And, who do you think you're talking to". I told her I thought I would discuss this conversation with Dr. Paradis and she said "And I think you should". Both of these replies were with a raised voice and she was being very rude (to say the least). Actually, the word for her behavior was "belligerent". I called back and left a message for the doctor to please call me. I never heard from him. I called and spoke with Carrie, the office manager. She basically called me a liar as she said she was sitting next to Melissa at the time and didn't hear anything like that in the conversation. I called CHAMPVA and we had a 3-way conversation with Melissa and Melissa said she would "resend" them. It's been weeks and CHAMPVA still haven't received them. I later got a letter from them telling me that since I wasn't happy with them that I would no longer be their patient. My daughter had an exam with him and she discussed these problems with him. He apologized for what I had to go thru and said that he would take care of it. I had an appointment in March for a dilation and I had a funny feeling. So, I called to see if I still had the appointment. Evidently the girls in the office know my name as I was put on hold and Carrie came on the line. She told me that they didn't want me as a patient and said she was getting sick of repeating herself. I had a feeling that Dr. Paradis didn't have the courage ot stand up to oher and Melissa and I was right. About a week later, I got another letter telling me they didn't want me as a patient. Both letter I received had no signature on them. Dr. Paradis doesn't have what it takes to be a boss and it's too bad as I'm sure people aren't going to stand for this behavior and he'll end up losing his practice. I have gotten into another doctor's office where the office staff are very friendly and helpful and what a wonderful feeling that is. So, if you want to be treated with respect, I highly suggest that you DO NOT go to them. read more

The doctor gave me a great prescription but her bookkeeper lied to me multiple times because Kennebec is running a bait-and-switch operation. Lie No. 1. They tell you they honor your plan and that you are covered. Lie No. 2. Then they told me the claim was denied by my carrier and that I would have to pay it all. I disagreed. Lie No. 3, the bookkeeper then told me she'd send a form for reimbursement from my insurance company. Instead of the form, I get a bill for $50/which I should not have to pay under my plan, and no form and with no informed consent. When I contacted my insurance provider, they said Kennebec was not honest with me because they billed it as a medical claim instead of a vision claim which would have been fully covered, and that I should demand a write-off. Frankly, I see they're running this scam with other people as well and if they want their ill-gotten gains, they'll have to get it from a small claims judge. The money isn't worth the fight but the principle is because they're preying upon helpless seniors. read more

I would like to say, that today I had to go to your store to have my glasses fixed. I have to say that I was very very pleased with the changes you have done with your business. Not only did you improve the store, but the employees were great. I was impressed with someone meeting me at the door taking my temperature and greeted me before entering the store. I felt very safe in your store. This is the best I have seen in central Maine. Kudos to you all. What a great job... I will be posting my review online for everyone to see. The changes are very nice. I received my eye examine from a large company but decided to support a local business for the purchase of my glasses. I never had glasses before so it was important to have my hand held during the process. I went with a higher end frame and a reading lens. The staff stated I could come back within a stated time period to upgrade my lens if I decided to do so. This policy is standard with any company, the customer would just have to pay the difference. Within two weeks I went back, I dealt with a younger female who stated she couldn't help me without my original prescription. Odd they didn't have a copy on file, my gut feeling? She didn't want to get involved..... After dealing with the employee who didn't want to get involved I left and didn't have a chance to get back with the original prescription due to my mother's passing. When I returned an older female was helping me, I explained I wanted to upgrade my lens at which point she kept looking at the prices of my old lens and the new lens and was trying to play with the numbers to her benefit. She stepped away and came back and stated all she could do was discount the more expensive lens by 15%. She was not willing to allow credit for my old lens. Once again I explained I returned within two weeks of purchase but the younger female employee didn't want to get involved. My dialog went in one ear and out the other. It's sad, I did the right thing by not going to Walmart or an online retailer. I went to a small mom & pop and it back fired. I should have went with my gut and purchased my glasses from Walmart or an online retailer. If I did the prices would have been cheaper and my experience might have been better.
