I have been going to KVFD for 3+ years, and at least every 3 months I'm there for hygiene services…read moreor treatment as I've been going to dentist since I was 6 yrs old. Review? Very easy to have opportunity to share my experience with this dental office!!! From the first visit until one last week, I have not had a 'bad' experience. Told Dr Martin and staff that I 'enjoy' caring for my teeth with their help, and it has always been excellent. Sometimes get appointments through cancellations, or as soon as they can work me in. Added my experience is that of my wife. She does not find it easy to go to dentist, never will enjoy it. Has MaineCare. She has been going for about 2+ years now, and they have cared for her very well, even with some extra challenges with painless dental options. Office staff has always taken care of existing appointments, future appointments in a timely way, and cost is always known upfront.

Complete disregard to scheduled appointments. Had an appointment for my daughter set for 2:45pm and…read moreeven confirmed it with their system, next thing I know I am receiving a call from their receptionist asking if we are on our way. I was understandably confused by this since it was only 12:55pm, having never missed an appointment before and confirmed the time. Now because they are saying we missed two appointments she would no longer be able to go to their office. This confused me to no end, since I remember going into their offices and bringing my daughter to have her teeth checked on the date in question. And now because their staff gave me the incorrect time when I made the appointment and confirming that time with their system my daughter gets penalized. Absolute BS, never again will I ever go into their offices. They wouldn't even double check their system's receipts when prompted to confirm that it was an error on their side when I still have my text confirmation with 2:45pm as the appointment time. Patients beware, watch out for the office staff, double, triple, maybe even quadruple what they tell you. Or just avoid them all together.

I went to Dr. Wyman around this time last year. I had a cavity that I was told would be a root…read morecanal. It was bothering me a lot, so he got me in that day. He "cleaned" the two smaller canals of the tooth but "couldn't find" the main canal. He said that it was an "impossible" tooth. He let me leave the office with only two of my canals cleaned out, saying that "it wouldn't last" (even though he charged me in full for the procedure). Two days later, I got up and walked into my kitchen. All of a sudden, I got a pain that dropped me to my knees. It was like I got stabbed in the face with a knife. It was like nothing I'd ever felt before. It was horrible. I ended up having to do to walk-in care, where they prescribed me Percocet. Mind you, I don't even like taking Tylenol. This pain med really messed with me. I scheduled an appointment to have the tooth extracted the next day. The next day, I went into PCDC, and low and behold, it wasn't an impossible tooth. DR. WYMAN HAD DUG INTO MY TOOTH IN THE WRONG SPOT SO LONG THAT MY TOOTH LINING WAS SO THIN THAT IT WOULD DEFINITELY END UP CRACKING, said my dentist, after he did the best he could at fixing my botched root canal. He said that the tooth WAS NOT impossible and that Dr. Wyman was the one who messed it up. When he cleaned out the main canal it was extremely infected. He said that he couldn't believe another dentist left it like that. The molding that Dr. Wyman put inside of the roots was thinned out and the small roots weren't cleaned out well at all. My dentist had to go back and fix the awful job that Dr. Wyman did. It was HORRIBLY done. To add insult to injury, the "impossible" tooth is most likely going to be pulled tomorrow. It's been gradually hurting worse and worse this past year. After X-Rays, I found out that the tooth DID crack. And it wasn't because it was "impossible", Dr. Wyman just couldn't do his job. He destroyed my tooth. Tomorrow, I'm either going to hope that my current dental surgeon will do a deal with me for the cost of the CT SCAN I'm going to need ($350) and my BONE GRAFT (another $350) for the implant I'm going to have to get OR I'm going to have a missing tooth THAT SHOULD BE THERE NOW, FINE AND WITH A FINISHED CROWN. I'm a college student studying to teach elementary school. I work full-time at a group home with adults with disabilities. ALL OF MY SCHOOL REFUND IS GOING TO THIS TOOTH. What should have been a $500 (tops) root canal and a crown is going to now be thousands of dollars. The receptionist at my new dentist's office said that, by the time the procedure is finished, it will cost me about SIX THOUSAND DOLLARS. That's more than I owe left on my car. Not that Dr. Wyman would care while he's out doing shitty procedures, driving around in the nice car that he bought with his dirty money. Hey Dr. Wyman, can I borrow about six thousand dollars?? Thanks!!

I returned a few weeks ago after I was notified that they did finally hire one. I arrived at the office and was immediately told by the front desk to sit down and shut up (no, she didn't actually say that but the intent and the attitude were there) and she would get to me in her own good time. When I was finally called, she was much more concerned about how I was going to pay for my care than what care I actually needed. It became obvious very quickly that this place was all about the money, how to separate me, and everyone else who walks in their door, from their hard earned money. In January 2025, I had x-rays done, then returned for a cleaning in February. I never got my cleaning. Instead, the hygienist took a cursory look around my mouth, feigned as though she was doing the standard periodontal probing, calling out five and higher most of the time. I've had this done before and never anything more than three. I started smelling a rat. The hygienist then declared that I needed a "deep cleaning' and that it would cost $3,500 for two visits to complete it. Now I was very suspicious. While still sitting in their office, I found another local dentist (Gagnon Dentistry in Farmingdale, ME) online and made an appointment with them. They completed the same procedure a month later and found no serious issues. I also got my teeth cleaned, unlike Aspen. In addition, when I asked for my dental x-rays from Aspen, they printed the ones from 2021, not the most current ones I got this year, 2025. What they gve me was useless to my new dentist. Thanks Aspen! My guess is that they couldn't find a dental hygienist who would act as dishonestly as they wanted. I'm also guessing the hygienist is working on commission. Bottom line: Stay away, stay away, stay away!!!!! This place is all about the money...taking yours!!

If you value your teeth, avoid Dr. Z. I needed a new dentist and his office was close to mine, and…read moreI was able to visit on my lunch break. I wish there were reviews that I could have read before hand, because just about everything he did to my mouth turned painful. At my initial checkup he said I needed a crown. I had been told that for a long time by many dentists about a particular tooth, but it never bothered me so I ignored it. This time he said that the x-ray showed decay, and it was only a matter of time before it would start causing trouble. I was facing losing my dental insurance soon after so I said okay. I had problems with it as soon as it was set. I went back five times to have it shaved down repeatedly, but the pain persisted. In the end I went to another dentist to see what was wrong. He took an x-ray and said that the crown was not seated properly, and was a millimeter above my gum line, exposing the inside of my tooth. I called to get another appointment and the usually friendly receptionist's demeanor changed immediately. She argued that dentists vary in their opinions and Dr. Z does good work. I finally got another appointment and I got a bit of push back at first (everyone was very cold to me). While we were waiting for the x-ray taken by the other dentist, Dr. Z probed under the crown and I jumped sky-high. Incredibly, he said that in all his years as a dentist, he had never seen a tooth shift like that, displacing a crown!! What!?! I'm no fan of dental work, and I had to have the crown removed and replaced. The new temporary crown didn't fit and it kept dislodging while I ate (even though I only chewed on the other side) and I kept chomping on it. The whole ordeal was a nightmare. The tooth still hurts (remember - it never bothered me before I went to see him), and I need to see another dentist to (hopefully) fix it. I can no longer chew on that side. He also made a mess of a front tooth I asked him to smooth out because of a chip in the back. Save yourself some pain - go to another dentist.
