Very pleasant office, attentive staff. I drove over an hour to get here. Well worth it. I was having significant issues finding a prescription that fit after having bilateral cataract surgery and retinal surgery. Dr Hersey was professional, kind, and thorough. I Highly recommend. More importantly, one month after my fitting, the prescription he chose is perfect. My eye fatigue is gone, I can read sharply again. I am so thankful. read more

I have worn glasses for nearly 30 years. Dr. Hersey has been my optometrist for the last 20 years. His office in Newport is closest to my home, but I have also gone to the Hermon office. Staff in both offices are well trained, personable, and helpful. Dr. Hersey if very thorough and I have been very happy with the correction that his prescriptions have made in my eyesight. read more

My first trip to Hersey Eye care was a pleasant experience. The facility is immaculate and well appointed. The staff at reception were friendly and helpful. The eye care tech/associate was totally competent. She couldn't have been friendlier. She did a number of procedures without a hitch. When she finished her exams. she took me to Dr. Hersey's lab where Dr.Hersey showed up almost immediately. The Dr. did a few exams and questions and diagnosed my eye condition. This man was easily the most confident professional I have ever encountered in many years. When he articulated my results and options there was no question as to his ease of confidence/competence. He got me set up with an eye surgeon in Waterville for further care. Seriously, I never expected this positive experience in a hundred years. The competence offered here is second to none. I will be sure to spread the good word whenever I have the occasion. read more

Dr. Hersey and his wife started this office to offer eye care services to the greater Newport / Sebasticook Valley region and is part of the Hersey Eye Care family.

Meet the Business Owner: Dr. Hersey H.

Dr. Hersey is a graduate of the New England College of Optometry. He began his clinical career in Bangor, Maine, in 2001 at Vision Care of Maine. He worked his way to become their Director of Clinical Services. While serving at Vision Care Dr. Hersey performed medical eye care, general eye care, pre and post surgical care, and emergency care. Dr. Hersey has also served as Adjunct Clinical Faculty for the New England College of Optometry, Illinois College of Optometry, and the Pennsylvania College of Optometry. He held the post of Leadership Cabinet with the American Optometric Association and served on the Board of Directors for the Maine Optometric Association.

Our Palmyra office is conveniently located at the Palmyra Wal-Mart®. Palmyra is next to Newport, off the Newport I-95 exit 157. The Wal-Mart® is next to the Newport Triangle.
