Best experience ever. Somehow I destroyed my wedding ring. I took it here to see if it was possible to fix. They needed to reshape the band, fix 16 prongs and replaced one diamond. Took an old chain of mine to get repaired and it took him a couple days because he was swamped with repairs. He also polished it up and only charged me $12 I couldn't believe it. He is the best. I am so happy!! I came here because of the nice Yelp reviews and I was so excited to replace the batteries in two of my watches (Ann Klein and Seiko). The man fixed both in under ten minutes. Every time I've come in this store I am very happy with the repairs John does. He is the most honest man you will ever deal with. I totally forgot his business is cash or check and I only brought a credit card so I said hold onto the jewelry while I run to the bank and get cash. He waved his hand and said take the jewelry just bring the money the next time you are by. All of a sudden I heard a woman say "Here John"and she put down the cash I owed. I told her to just wait 5 minutes while I ran to the Bank of America up the street and she said it's fine you don't need to pay me back. I was brought up to always repay a debt so since she wouldn't take my money I asked her what her favorite charity was and so tomorrow Bella's Voice thrift shop (who gives 100% of its profit to helping animals) will reap the reward of Carla's kindness So not only does Jewelry box do wonderful work but they have wonderful customers like Carla. I'm pretty sure I reviewed this place a few years ago, but my post can no longer be seen, so here goes again... The owner, John I gather, has a heart of gold. He seems to be one of those cherished shop-owners who cares more about what is right than lining his own pockets. Last time, he fixed a ring which subsequently lost its diamond. He replaced the stone, and fixed it again, for free, no questions asked. This time, I needed a battery changed in my watch, and went to Jewel Box. The place down the Street has charged me 3 times the price that John did! My only suggestion is that you call before you arrive; sometimes he's "stepped out" and can temporarily be closed. BTW, all those photos on the wall are his adoring fans and clients - he apparently has more followers than a teen-aged girl on Snapchat... read more

John, the owner... I don't even have words for how sweet this man is. I'm a Kenmore resident but haven't had a need for a local jeweler since I bought my house here. Yesterday, John was very kind hearted when I brought my beautiful, custom wedding ring set to him to have it essentially destroyed. I have to return the heirloom diamonds to my in laws as part of my dissolution and I only had 24 hours to get it done. I didn't know where to go or who I could trust and a friend recommended John. Duh! Why hasn't I thought of Kenmore Jewel Box? In less than 24 hours he disassembled my rings and actually hardly even damaged the bands - 15 diamonds of varying sizes each embedded within hand designed beading - hard to remove and he did it in a super impressive manner. When I picked everything up today he didn't charge me enough and wouldn't let me pay more. Instead he insisted anything else I wanted to pay be donated to a fundraiser jar in his shop. He took the time to ask me about myself, my background and children. He genuinely wanted to make sure that we were ok in the process of this divorce. What a gem, this place is a hidden treasure in Kenmore. I stopped in with a gemstone ring I was hoping to resize. A lot of jewelers wouldn't resize it since the gem is cracked and resizing could break it, but this business owner (John?) said he'd try it if I wanted him too. I was thrilled when I picked it up in PERFECT condition, shinier than the day I bought it! Plus it was only $25, which I was stunned by - I was expecting at least double that, especially since it was a special situation with the cracked gem. I tried to give him more/tip him and he insisted I put the extra cash in a bin on the counter for a local charity. What an amazing business owner and craftsman, I'm looking for more things to bring to him to give him more business because he's earned a customer for life. Went here today to get new batteries put into two watches. The man whom I assume is the owner helped me. He was very genuine and sweet. No wonder people love this place. I decided to leave them and come back later to pick up since I had errands to run. It was only $20 total which is less than it would have been at Freddy's so I'm glad I came here though be aware credit cards aren't accepted. Luckily I had cash on me. One of the best businesses around. I was attended to by John, a kind, elderly gentleman and he fixed all 3 of my watches. A small hand in one of the watches could not be located when opened upon repair, so it was partially fixed and I was given a discount against that. I have been twice to this place as it is very affordable and this review was highly overdue. It's good to have these folks around, who can fix broken things and make them as good as new. And John is the kind of person you would meet for the first time and he will make you feel like you have known each other forever. Highly recommend this store! He changed the watch on the battery and let me come back later with the payment. How many places are still like that? This is the genuine, real-deal small-town shop. I would give it 5 stars but the inventory of other items seems to have dropped of late. I think that is more a reflection of the economic times than anything. And one time he said that my battery was just fine and that the movement was just a little bit off. He always tests batteries and wont just replace it if you ask him. True old school ma-pop owned jewelry store. Cash only. Watch battery replacement service: Had multiple watches serviced here. Only $5-$8 per battery for replacements, very competitive price. However the bottom seal brand decals are not perfectly aligned, and one was positioned upside down. I noticed one watch did get scratched on the bottom. I understand it's tricky to pop off the seals, with a blade, but he should have at least pointed it out and apologized. So absolutely recommended for quick inexpensive battery replacements, but not if you're picky. read more

I will be taking this business owner to small claims court. He lost a very sentimental watch that I left with him to be repaired. Then when I went in to speak with him he actually had the nerve to get angry at me. I couldn't believe it. The jeweler doesn't tag the items that he takes in from customers? Just absolutely incredible and unbelievable and he should not be in business. I don't care about his story of coming here many years from another foreign country and setting up shop. There's just no way a business owner should treat his customers this way!! He actually accused me of never leaving my watch there. My father dropped my watch off to be very nice for me to save me time because he had been having his watch repaired there for many years. The owner knows him and I'm so surprised that he acted this way to me.
