One was to have a bezel reattached, and the second was a seconds hand swap. Both of them were vintage pieces, so I didn't just want to take them to any average place to have them worked on. I have this pretty new watch that I tried to repair but couldn't figure out the root cause. Instead of regretting later, I decided to get a quote from a local shop to see how much it cost to repair something like this. While waiting for the response, I got lucky and was able to figure out what was wrong. The response I got from Timely Matter showed the shop is proud of what they do and was willing to help their potential customers in any ways they could. At this point all I need is a tiny o ring and they were willing to source the part for me. I would've driven to the store to get it but given covid and my health condition, it wasn't worth taking the risk as this is one of the watches that I don't wear often. I stopped by to ask if the person at this shop could help me shorten my new watch's mesh band. They were fantastic and I would highly recommend this place! So a little background. I bought a watch from Jared online and asked the salesperson online if I could bring to its store to have band shortened afterwards if I come across problems doing it myself. She said yes and it ended up not being the case as when I tried to call physical store after it arrived they said no if not made of gold. Sigh I then had a terrible time trying to adjust the band myself ( and yes I watched many YouTube tutorials) and was thinking of returning the darn thing as it was getting frustrating . Thank goodness I did a google search and found this lovely shop! The person that helped me there was courteous, professional and accommodating. The band was stuck and he took the time to adjust it and ended up telling me there was no charge since he say he did not have to cut anything. He was also very knowledgeable and explain what might happen if we try cutting it. I really appreciate his honesty and integrity and will definitely come back to replace some of my other watches batteries or repairs! read more

I went in yesterday with a big beast of a watch that I could NOT open! Even another near by watch shop tried it and said that it just won't open. Well the young gentleman working there put a TON of effort and multiple tools to work and guess what? He got it open! What a nice staff they have. I told him I already have a battery but just couldn't open it so he said, "ok, no charge". Well with all of that effort I had to at least tip him but what a nice surprise in this day in age. I inherited a railroad pocket watch from my great grandpa. I knew nothing about the watch other than he used it when he worked for Burlington Northern in Nebraska. The folks at Timely Matter replaced the cracked crystal and were able to give me that it was made in 1931 and the different functions to make the watch work. They were very friendly. This little shop is a gem in Lake City. If you have any watches or clocks that you've always wanted to fix but didn't know how to, this is the place for you. The inside of the shop is the neatest. There are floor-to-ceiling rows of those old library card boxes filled with parts. It's a cool blast from the past, a unique, independent business that I'm sure some greedy developer will buy out in no time. I had a Timex Expedition watch that had a plate that my husband and I couldn't figure out how to deal with. The owner replaced the battery, set the watch, sealed it up well, and charged me next to nothing. He also sells watches and other time pieces. Great place. read more

This place is tucked away on Lake City Way, and it's very easy to miss unless you're looking for it. I was looking for a service place to deal with a finicky spring bar on a watch band, and there are surprisingly few places in the North Seattle/Shoreline area that covers this need. The gentleman (whom I assume to be the owner) helped me out immediately, and didn't even charge - surprising, given that most service places I've been to in the past charged for watch band replacements when you don't buy the band from their store. I first stopped into this store to have a battery replaced on my Nine West wristwatch - they had in popped off and replaced in record time! (Sure helps to have all the right tools & lots of experience.) Then I brought in my Howard Miller wooden desk clock - my aunt who gave it to me informed me it's actually a mantle clock - to see if they could fix it without breaking my bank.
