It…read moredetails how Keenan Valdes, the owner of Sachi Fine Jewelry, who presented himself as a capable jewelry designer, took advantage of a customer at every turn, failing to provide any documents, receipts, invoices, or certifications, and breaking every promise made in their verbal agreement. Nearly four years ago, in the spring of 2021, I entered Keenan's store to inquire about designing a ring with a yellow sapphire. I had narrowly survived a life-threatening incident while traveling and was struggling with my health, hoping for a miracle to aid my recovery so I could care for my daughter. A friend's guru, an enlightened yogi known for his expertise in stone healing, recommended that I get a yellow sapphire ring and wear it constantly. I showed Keenan a photo of the design I wanted, stated a budget of $5,000, and requested a stone size of 2-3 carats. Keenan quoted a price of $2,000-$2,500 for the ring, based on the weight of the metal. He was exceedingly charming, assuring me that I was in the right place and that he had a dealer who could get the stone at the best price. When I asked about a down payment, he said I would pay the full amount upon completion if I was satisfied, and that the ring would be ready in six months. Based on consultations with other jewelry designers, I knew that 1-carat should cost around $750, so I believed the total cost would be under $5,000. However, with each meeting, the design and price drifted further from the original plan. Keenan ordered a much larger stone, 4.15 carats, claiming it was a rare find that would make my ring unique and valuable over time making it a family treasure passing through generations. His enthusiasm convinced me to agree, and he told me that I needed to pay $7,777 in cash for the stone within 30 days. I sold my company's stock to make the payment, believing I would receive the ring in six months and that Keenan didn't profit from the stone. (Only 2 weeks ago by pure incident I learned that he made 300% markup on that stone.) Despite the lack of paperwork and the higher cost, I was captivated by his stories and trusted him completely. As time went on, Keenan's behavior became more manipulative. He claimed the stone was too high-profile for the design I wanted but assured me he could create any design. I proposed a few more designs but none of the designs I suggested worked for such high profile stone, and he had no interesting creative ideas of his own. In February 2022, he tried to sell me a premade ring that was completely unsuitable. Realizing I had made a mistake in trusting him, I felt trapped because I had already paid $8K for the stone. The ring was supposed to be ready in August 2022, but Keenan prioritized other orders and suggested I take my business elsewhere. When I asked if he would buy back the stone, he refused, claiming the stone and ring were separate transactions. It was another lie to keep my money. Along the way he pressured me into adding diamonds and making design adjustments to fit those, so the prototype I finally saw in April 2024 was far from what I had envisioned. Finally, after a long wait the ring in platinum was ready on December 14th, 2024. I paid $2,222 in cash and picked up the ring, but upon closer inspection, I found numerous flaws. The stone was set incorrectly (wrong angle) and too high, and the band was twisted in an awkward way. The ring caused discomfort (made my finger to swallow). It was poorly designed, bulky, unstable, and absolutely unwearable. Feeling betrayed and emotionally drained, I requested a refund, but Keenan refused. He lied about taking the money to the bank and paying for materials but after pressuring him to stick to the contract agreement he finally returned the same bills I had given him. He suggested creating a new design, but I had lost all trust in him. When I asked if he wanted to keep the ring setting to sell in his store, he said it was only good for melting down. This meant he knew the ring was so poorly designed that it couldn't be sold, yet he still wanted me to pay for it in the first place. Throughout this ordeal, I received no documentation, invoices, or certifications (even though I requested those). I have no proof of the materials used, their weight, or the authenticity of the stone. After nearly four years, countless appointments, and significant financial loss, I decided to seek legal action. Keenan's refusal to take responsibility and his unethical behavior left me with no other option. When I offered him to settle this case outside the courtroom, he didn't bother to respond to my emails. (I read in another review that he just ignored his clients when he doesn't want to return money for the unfinished work). I said that seemed low. He told me most of everything was 10k. I said that I wanted to go to other places to compare prices. He suddenly went up to 11k and started pressuring me to take the offer and said if I leaved, his price would go down. He started saying "do you want a check?". I felt very uncomfortable and left. I went directly to Seattle Gold. They tested everything and said almost all of it was 14k and even 18k. They gave me 12k. This owner is a conman. He thought he could get away with 8k on jewelry that was worth 12k. BEWARE!!!!

(Who doesnt like being paid in cash?) He scolded me like a kid and told me not to make an offer if I couldn't buy it right then and there. I explained to him that it would take 20 minutes to get the cash and I would be right back, and he said OK, but he was completely rude from then on and didn't try to hide it. If I'm buying jewelry, I don't like buying from people like this guy. Its an investment and there should be trust, which is why its nice to build a good relationship with your seller. I got the cash and returned to the store -- looking for my earrings. But they were GONE! He had packed them up in a box to move somewhere, even though they don't close for another three hours, and even though he KNEW I was coming back for THOSE earrings. I had even specifically confirmed that he would give them to me for that price when I returned. Nope! Wouldn't even let me buy them. That was the only display box that he packed up. There's more. His wife is very nice, but as she showed me a necklace, he scolded me as if I were stealing. I said thanks and got the heck out. Bad vibes, bad customer service. Bottom line, I'm never coming back here. I buy jewelry from people I trust to be transparent, respectful, and who don't force a decision in 30 seconds or less. It's one thing if you're not really buying anything, but I was there to buy. If you're buying pawned jewelry, you need time to examine it, otherwise you'll probably end up spending too much on a synthetic gem. If you're looking for a wonderful, FRIENDLY jewelry pawn shop with equally high-end merchandise at better prices, run by a VERY nice family, go to Onix Jewelry instead. In fact, I went there after I left Aboud Jewelry and bought 18k gold studs with natural blue sapphire....for $100!!! Tony at Onix is always happy to negotiate. Also, it's 2 minutes away from Aboud Jewelry. Spend your money there and get more value and nicer service.

Kelsy greeted me, directed me to Masami, who stopped his work to look at my watch, he politely identified it as a counterfeit, and said he would adjust the watch (NO CHARGE) to make it as good as it could be. "Would you mind waiting 15 minutes, sir?" What, really?! While Masami adjusted my Fakeo, Kelsy showed me about ten watches that I liked, (an hour), answered my questions, had great acumen, demeanor, and professional poise without projecting attitude or qualifying me, treated me like I was the only one in the store, and confirmed a thing or two she wasn't 100% sure of. Excellent. I don't trust anyone who claims to know everything. I wound up buying a beautiful and very reasonably priced (less than $350 out the door) Seiko and identified another that I will buy in the future. IT GETS BETTER! I asked Masami if installing new guts in my Fakeo would be a good idea, as I don't care about the status, I just like the looks of the watch and want it to keep time. He said he could do that, gave me an estimate, and said that just buying the authentic model would be a better financial path for the long term. I agreed. Always buy the best quality you can afford. Also, as I was checking out, I saw a watch that was beautiful, but redundant, with respect to my purchase, and as I asked a question about the band, Kelsy, being honest, wasn't quite positive about the answer... So one of the store owners, overhearing, (sorry I cannot recall her name and spelling), came over and explained the details to answer my question! AND she interrupted an in person interview to do so! AMAZING. So, the price of an education in a field where money can chase unlimited ends was, for me, a value and a lesson learned for not a disasterous price. The parts I supplied were not perfect and Sam was able to modify them so I could end up with my desired end goal. Removing the bezel from the duro is notoriously difficult, and some say impossible without damage to the watch but he was able to complete it (old bezel was bent but that's expected). Very happy to recommend their workshop but please call ahead to see if they are willing to accept the request.

Both are masters of clock history and clock repair as well as offering an amazing retail sales floor ranging from a huge castle grandfather clock to cuckoo and "character " clocks. Karen, also fondly known as "Cuckoo Karen," has a back room that looks like a scientist's or genius's laboratory. Jody repairs wall clocks and watches and also has a reputation for fixing lamps! Their communication after customers drop off clocks are awesome, and they welcome post service calls if there is still a problem.

But I have to say that Lou Edwards has created what now stands as the most impressive piece I've ever commissioned. This was a very significant project for me: I wanted a special gift for my husband, Jim, to celebrate our 20th wedding anniversary. Jim's special motif is armadillos... he collects them, and he likes to wear silver armadillo pins on his jeans jacket. When we met almost 25 years ago, Jim had an armadillo-ouroboros tattoo on his shoulder... a tattoo he designed himself. And twenty years ago, for our wedding, I'd had a tiny white-gold armadillo lapel pin created for him. So for our 20-year anniversary, I had the idea of commissioning a handcrafted silver and gold pin based on Jim's tattoo. I approached Lou with this project idea, and a couple months later, he turned it into a beautiful reality. Lou somehow managed to make it not only exactly like what I asked for, but even better. He made it even more beautiful and three-dimensional than what I'd had in mind. I adore the 3D details of the little Norse-Viking-ship style head of the armadillo, with the matte gold squiggle and ruby eye, and adorable teeth! The entire thing is so beautiful and perfect that I am at a loss for words. And my husband Jim really loves it, which is the most important thing. I also want to point out that not only is the outcome amazing, but the process of having it created was great, as well. Duvall Jewelers provided me with several updates and previews of how things were going, and was able to get my concerns addressed as the project went along. I got the sense that this was a labor of love for Lou. I appreciate the care and enthusiasm he brought to this project. I love supporting other artists. And if I ever have another custom jewelry project, Lou Edwards will be my first choice.

When I arrived he said it was $30 for a battery change and $25 for a link change (he said if I needed two links which I had, but was missing one of the two pins that would be needed to hold the links together, it would be an additional $10 for the part). I tried to haggle as it is a cash only business, to which he added sales tax to the service. So just over 60 dollars for a battery change and one link put-on. I personally think he was overcharging $5-$10 per service performed (in this case, two). However, he is an expert with years of experience and one of the very few watch makers available in the area. Also, you don't have to ship your watch if you don't want to (like many places require nowadays). There are various ATM's close-by within walking distance. It took Mike about 15 minutes and I would recommend but, must know he is firm with his business and signs are posted that sales are final whether your watch works afterwards or not.
