I got a bracelet to with my late dogs name engraved on it and it was a bit too big. The jeweler I…read moreordered it from was a big chain and wouldn't do alterations, so I took it here to see if they could shorten it. The chain is really delicate, so they did charge me $45 so that they could put another layer of gold over it to make it a bit more sturdy. I liked that they were proactive about that and let me know! They put great deal of care into measuring my wrist and making things just right. The bracelet was ready to pickup within a week and looks even better than how I left it! It fits perfectly and I am so grateful. They also have a VERY sweet dog who roams around the shop. I had a great time with the pup while they pulled up my order and info in the back.

It's a small place that you can very easily drive by. In fact, I did, but only once. The first couple times I turned down this road, I was certain the directions were wrong, because it looks so residential. But never fear. There's even parking, usually. Mr Park has a small shop with a few display cases showing off rings, bracelets, and other jewelry. Lots of sparkles. There are a few old-fashioned mantle clocks (I have kind of a thing for these), and a few miscellaneous other decorative items. Signs say he buys gold. He sits at a workbench behind the cases, and seems to do a steady business in watch and clock repair. I brought in a new watch I'd gotten for Christmas that needed links added to the band. Off-the-shelf watches are always too small for my meathead wrists. He didn't happen to stock extra links, but I got a few from the customer service department of the watch manufacturer. He got right to work the second I came in, and tapped it all together while I sat in his one chair. $10 to take a watch I couldn't even fit over my hand and turn it into something I can wear comfortably whenever I want. It took him maybe 5 minutes. Mr Park isn't the chattiest person you've ever met. He didn't even shoot the breeze with me at all until he was ringing me out. But he's a friendly, nice guy once the work is done. Watch and clock people always seem to be hyper-focused, from what little I know. Given how much more he smiled after tuning up my watchband, I think that might be his vibe. I have a mantle clock that doesn't always run and I think I might be back here to tune that up when I think of it.

I was going to say American Gold Buffalo, a 1 oz uncirculated gold coin that is .9999 fine gold. Because she was rude and probably thought it was a numismatic coin where the value is all over the place, and insanely inflated by a small niche of people who are sellers and collectors, she rudely interrupted me by saying, "no we don't." I took a ring there to have it resized on 4/15/2025, picked up on 4/22/2025. It is a precious…read morefamily heirloom and based on advertising I have seen for Fircrest Jewelers stating that it is a locally owned business that one could trust with their family heirlooms, I felt comfortable. The shank broke on 5/11/2026, and I took it back on 5/12/2026. The lady who waited on me made a loud production about their one-year warranty and how the damage to my ring was outside of the year. It was 3 weeks outside of the warranty. It was unprofessional behavior and there were other people in the business who could hear her admonish me. She said she would speak to the owner and get back to me. I received a text message on 5/13/2026, stating that I could pay $40 for the repair. I picked up my ring and took it to another jewelry store who looked the ring over to give me an estimate. Attached is the picture I took when they explained that the work that had been done was faulty. There are bubbles in the shank and you can see the lines where the metal was added to upsize the ring. So much for over 30 years' experience in the business. I would expect this type of customer experience with a corporate owned business where profit is the goal over everything else, not from a "locally owned business that advertises that you can trust your precious family heirlooms with them." Update/Response: The ring was not bent nor had it been sized before. I hardly wear this ring, and I never wear it for work, around the house or in the garden. I received this from a grandparent, and it was a size 4 or 5. Fircrest is the only jeweler that I have had size this ring, and that was in April of last year. It broke at the seam of the metal that was used to upsize the ring to a size 8.5. The jeweler that looked over the ring was not impressed with the work and there was no discussion about the ring being bent or sized multiple times.
