Mama nursing her adopted babies thank you Ken!!!!

The owner Ken is an absolute gem. Not only did he provide a Mother nursing rat, he gave me plenty of her bedding so I could make my orphan rat Babies smell like her. She has accepted them, and I believe that their survival is due to this wonderful business. Ken went above and beyond, and I am so grateful to him.

This is our little tiny snake pet

We walked into this shop and immediately we were greeted by Kenny and Mat, we came here to look at leopard geckos, unfortunately they were sold out. We could have walked away but their customer service was so welcoming we just wanted to stick around and see what they had in store .. my daughter was drawn to the snakes and both Kenny and Mat were quick to show us and let us pet all the snakes, after holding a sand boa for about an hour it was so hard to give him back .. we bought a sand boa!!!! we bought some accessories to house him as soon as we got home .. we brought down our old tank and gave him a home.. this shop is fully stocked on reptiles, food , accessories, you name it . Thank you Kenny and Mat for making this experience memorable for our kids .

Conveniently located off Lambert and near La Habra Blvd in Whittier , we love Kendogs!! As Ball Python handlers, it's rare that you ever find a shop that leaves you speechless by its reptile offerings and Kendogs is the shop!! We were blown away by the scaleless Blue Eyed Lucy they have. And it was incredible to see that Kendogs was at the Pomona Reptile Expo and brought the sweet girl out!! Lisa was great at the shop, very friendly and knowledgeable and our go-to shop for feeders and expanding our ball python projects. If that sweet scaleless BEL girl ever goes up for sale, we want to be the first in line for her!! Thanks Lisa and the Kendogs Reptiles family, we'll see you soon!!

Small shop but very friendly staff. Not the best selection of accessories but perfect if you're looking for feeders.

From the moment we walked in, we were greeted warmly by both the owner, Augustine, and his daughter. The shop is family operated, local, spotlessly clean, smells great, and is filled with beautiful, healthy birds. While the birds are fantastic, Augustine is the real star of the show. We ended up having a long, wonderful conversation with him. You can instantly tell when someone is genuinely passionate about what they do, and Augustine goes above and beyond. He is incredibly knowledgeable and takes immaculate care of every single bird, from grooming to boarding. Coming here feels like visiting an amusement park because it is that exciting and welcoming. Even if you are just stopping by for basic supplies and not buying a bird, you are made to feel valued just for being there. It truly felt like a privilege to experience a shop like this, which is why I felt absolutely compelled to write this review the second I left. My first recent try was to go the traditional route - heater, filter, bottles of water conditioner & beneficial bacteria, etc. etc. - when I unexpectedly happened upon an eye-opening You-Tube vid about the Walstad method (less homework & a more natural environment, the way God intended). So I returned all that other gear & am starting from scratch. Fernando eased My initial anxiety arriving as a total tank newbie, and gave Me a tour of the various low-maintenance plants I could start My nitrogen cycling with. Nolan - the Captain of this aquarium supplies ship - answered every one of My questions with patience & grace, did not talk down to Me or make Me feel stupid, and I left feeling happily hopeful that I might actually be successful in creating a fish-friendly safe & healthy environment. I am already envisioning My future fishy tenants, plus a snail & a sucker fish or two. Wish Me luck!! :-)

I've been to tongs, 8888, etc, trust me Nolan's is super clean. I came here for plants, they have a very large selection!!! My first time here was a few days ago - I got Hornwort, bolbitus, and dwarf water lettuce. They were all thriving. Hornwort fluffy and full! Also Thursday's is 25% off plants !! I came again today and brought a friend and she was also so happy we stayed there for like an hour just looking at everything. They have multiple rooms and a lot of tanks. The store seems small but it's not ; there's a lot of variety of fish, plants, and shrimp. Today there were red root floaters, one of the employees actually grew them - they were so healthy and super red I had to buy 3 cups !! I got more dwarf water lettuce bc my axolotl loved hanging in the roots. Staff today was super nice and helpful. There were 2 guys. It was extremely busy when I came like 10 people and they were helping everyone collaboratively. I hate when an employee only focuses on 1 customer who takes forever thinking and observing and there's a ton of ppl waiting. It wasn't like that here, the guy would answer a question and move on to another client. Also when the guy was fishing out some shrimp he was still talking to other customers and answering questions. I loved the vibe here. I will def be returning!!!!!

We were also not allowed to hold any of the birds, which made it hard to interact with them before considering a purchase. If your posted hours say 12, customers should be able to expect you to actually be open at 12. The customer service was also unpleasant. The owner came across as rude and had an unfriendly attitude, which made the whole experience worse. Unfortunately, I would not recommend this place.

I flagged down an employee who sed only the manger could help me with the animal. Ok never had that problem anywhere else but ok. So he says he'll be right with me... we wander and wait for almost 20 min. Manager comes over and says I see you're interested in getting one of our tarantulas. I say yes and he proceeds to say "unfortunately we are done selling animals for the night and that I'd have to come back tomorrow". I literally was like are you joking?! He sed no I'm not I just used the last of my time to help someone with a hamster and I have to tend to the animals in the back befor I run out of time. It was only 7:15pm. They close at 9pm. I asked if someone else could help me. He sed no because no one there is trained to handle the animals. (I've quite literally purchased animals 10 min before closing and someone anyone has always helped me) I asked if I could purchase the tarantula and then retrieve it on my own if they unlocked and gave me a box he sed "Sorry no we don't allow that" (Again I've done it befor multiple times-sometimes because an employee was terrified of touching the spiders) So I leave annoyed and confused and kinda ticked off that I waited when I was told I was gonna be helped. Didnt think I was gonna be back the next day but there I was picking up dog food bright and early with my friend and we stop in again. I walk up to Franco and ask if he could help me out with the purchase of an animal. "No problem" he says. Another employee helps me with filling out paperwork and Franco asks if I have the proper set up. I let him know I'm a keeper of Ts as I call them and he lets me know he's the general manager. So I ask him some questions regarding the day before. I told him it would've taken not even 5 mins to collect the tarantula cause at that very moment the employee who helped me with paper work came back in less than 5min with the T I requested and sed she was so calm and cooperative. He apologized for the employees rudeness and lack of customer service aswell as for me having to come all the way back out (I live near west la). Franco was a pleasant delight and cause of him I WILL be back! :) (FYI THE STARS ARE FOR FRANCO! )

Customers beware…read more Ever since manager La Shaan left, this Petco grooming salon seems to be falling apart. I was nervous about booking my dog's first appointment without her regular groomer. Before scheduling, I spoke with Samantha, who reassured me that she remembered my dog and knew how her previous groomer always groomed her. That gave me enough confidence to book. On the day of the appointment, I spoke directly with her and we specifically agreed not to shave my dog down. I asked for about an inch off all over and explained that I understood if her underside needed to be shaved because I had felt a few mats there. That was the only area I expected to be shaved. Instead, I picked up my dog hours early to find she had been given a full buzz cut. The only fur left was on her tail (which still had mats) and a rounded "dome" on her head. There was no blending, tapering, or feathering just harsh, blunt transitions between her body, tail, and head. I was honestly shocked. After processing what happened, I called to speak with a manager and hopefully find a resolution. I ended up speaking with Franco. Rather than trying to understand my concerns, his responses felt dismissive and argumentative. He repeatedly asked questions like, "Is that okay, or is that not okay?" when I simply agreed to wait for a callback. He told me someone would follow up within 20 minutes, but that turned into well over an hour. When he finally called back, I was told there was nothing they could do because I had supposedly "agreed to shave her." WhenI specifically emphasized that I didn't want her shaved down, only trimmed by about an inch, except for the underside if necessary due to matting. Samantha had even tried to convince me to shave her beforehand, and I clearly declined. Mistakes happen, but what really disappointed me was the complete lack of accountability and customer service afterward. Instead of listening or trying to make things right, they dismissed my concerns. I won't be returning, and I can't recommend this grooming salon. Save yourself the disappointment and take your pet somewhere that values communication and stands behind its work.

They also clearly know what they're doing. The staff is knowledgeable and can answer questions without giving you that blank stare you sometimes get at other aquarium shops. But the pricing is honestly kind of shocking. A lot of their equipment is outrageously overpriced compared to what you can find online or even at other local stores. For example, I saw a UNS double valve connector selling for about $60 when the same thing is easily available online for around $20. They also had the Kessil 35° reflector priced at $50, and I've never seen those go for more than $30 or $35 anywhere else. I get that local fish stores have overhead and can't always compete with online pricing, and I'm totally fine paying a little more to support a brick and mortar shop. But some of these markups feel excessive. If you need something immediately and don't mind paying a premium, it's a solid store with good selection and knowledgeable staff. Just be prepared for some pretty steep prices on certain items. Overall I'd say it's worth visiting, but definitely price check before buying equipment.
