I've been a very happy Kemgas customer for nearly 10 years, but they truly went above and beyond yesterday (the day after Thanksgiving) to rescue our holiday weekend. Our propane tank gauge read 30% full, so I was waiting to order a refill until Spring, but then on Thanksgiving Day (luckily just after we finished preparing our multi-course family feast) our propane RAN OUT -- no stove top cooking, no fireplace (our sole heating source), no hot water. I called Kemgas Friday morning, left a message with their emergency service, but since their office was closed for the holiday, I figured we were out of luck (and heat) for a few days. Imagine my surprise when, less than an hour after my message with their emergency service, I received a call from Kemgas informing me that they had a driver in my area that day who then arrived within 90 minutes to refill our tank and then took the time to help re-light our various propane fixtures. (He also diagnosed the problem with the gauge -- banged in a few times and then it correctly read zero.) It's this kind of customer service that will make me a Kemgas customer for life. Called when tank was at 15% was told they needed to inspect on Wednesday and it would be filled on Thursday, now Saturday and the 80 year old tenants have a home that 39f inside and rushing to grab space heaters to keep warm for the big storm that's supposed to hit tomorrow. Called service and they said just wait, they said they showed up but at 0% they didn't. read more

I received a call from Kemgas telling me there is nothing he can do to get me my delivery today. He was nice enough to offer to come up and get his tank. I told him he needed to get his business together as this is less than acceptable customer service. He said he would look into a delivery on Monday. He also said our history shows we would never use twenty percent in the time allotted before our next delivery. I told him we have used twelve percent just since I placed the refill order. So I left it with I hope to see them on Monday. Will update again on Monday read more

The last time we got gas the driver broke our gate and apparently even took photos of it to take to his boss! When we talked to his boss we got basically oh well your gate was old!! Completely rude and just dismissive over all of it! read more

Kem Gas had a good reputation in the past and it is awesome they have been in the business since 1936 but unless they make some changes in management they won't be in business too far in the future. I had a recent misunderstanding with paying my tank rental when I paid on another account. I never could figure out what happened because I was confronted by Heather. This office management was the rudest thing I have EVER encountered doing business with anybody. I was trying to explain what had happened and she just kept going off on me that we didn't buy enough gas from them and she didn't want to talk to me because the account was in my husband's name. I have been the only one to ever go pay them, they didn't have a problem talking to me when I gave them my check. It is still a shock to me this all happened over a tank rental misunderstanding. Talk about blowing things out of perspective, wow. I was notified by this crazy office management that I needed to find another company. I guess I should thank them, the new company that I changed to is cheaper, doesn't charge weird fees and comes with a great app that I can manage my propane tank from my phone. I was the 4th person to go to Thompson Gas this week from Kem Gas for the same reason. Unbelievable way to run a business! I hope the owners of Kem Gas figure out who is running their company into the ground before it's too late. Now if this goes like some of the other reviews that I have read with this company it's time for childish retaliation comments. Terrible customer service by Heather and their front office. Basically said my delivery date was a different date than it was, said I was going to get service on that different date. Called back on that date asking where the truck was. They said there was no record of that and that I was a liar. That I never called. So shocked! I canceled my service shortly after. read more

I have called for a fill up there automated systems says to call and request delivery before your tank reaches %30 so I call when the tank is little less then %40 and was told I can not request a fill up until the tank reaches 20 to 30 percent . My idea of calling was to call and request a fill because the cost has been rising every week I kinda was thinking this is what they were doing put off tell the following week and change 15 to 20 cents per gallon more and what do you know this is exactly what they did. I called around there is t much to choose from in this area regarding bulk propane to choose from so I tucked my tail and ordered propane 24 hours ahead of time just to be told that they have to put delivery off tell the following week now I will be probably down to 10-25 percent will they be charging me the new rate for the difference?? I had a gas leak on a Saturday and when the guy came out to confirmed he locked us out which by law they have to but the guy said he will return once we fix the part. When we called he had another guy call us to tell us he will not be return. The manager refused to speak with us and they said to call Monday and they will see is they can send someone out. They never sent anyone out. Worse customer service! read more

Good service and employees but poor business practice with smaller customers. We have our 250 filled randomly when it needs it and this place always finds a way to "estimate" their pre charge bill so they're always holding on to money of mine so I call them back for the next fill. It's less than $20 I know but don't hold it hostage for future business. Never once has their estimated pre bill been over $20 which is the boundary where they will actually issue a credit back to your card. read more

I agree with the last 3 reviews...horrible customer service. The owner is about $$$. It is common knowledge that a business is nothing without their customers.....whatever happened to "customer appreciation" and "working with folks"???? I am a renter of a landlord who chose to install a 300 gallon tank ages ago. It can cost a small fortune to fill this tank. Normally I had been buying 100 gallons at a time. I would call ahead to make sure to get on the schedule for my area which is 40 minutes from Ukiah. Suddenly the "they" said I'm too far away to only deliver 100 gallons....which as I stated never happened...they were always going to be in my area.....when I reminded Kemgas of this they came up with another excuse why I had to purchase more gas...I finally got them to agree upon 150 gallons. I switched to another company and am paying a bit more which is fine....I no longer have the frustration and left them due to principle. Every time I would stop in the office to pay or get info their would be a sign on the door "out to lunch"....it did not matter what time it was. read more

Micky is very rude!! I would not recommend this propane company to anyone! They started out with good prices and then they raise their price extremely. They have the worst customer service and are extremely unhelpful. Switching companies to one that has better customer service and prices. read more

Such a pleasure to work with these folks after being robbed by the horrible Decarlis for so many years. Less expensive propane, free installation, new customer discount. All I have to do is check my meter every month and call or email when it gets to 30%. They are in Ukiah, but deliver to Santa Rosa, no problem. read more

Kemgas wasn't very careful about my account. I thought I had requested to closed my account after making the last payment of $100.00 due to relocation to Colorado on 9/28/2011. So this year I was trying to buy my first home and found out that the account was never closed and I have a $507.00 charge in collections. A bill for this I never received and my credit ruined. So I gave them a call and kemgas told me that someone ordered a tank refill on 10/4/2011. I ended up getting transferred to the office manager and all I got was the answering machine. I will get to the bottom of this and I will not pay one red cent either. I wasn't even living in California at the time of the order! read more

I'm in Anderson Valley and they decided that I lived too far away or didn't use enough propane. With no notice they cancelled my account and I was left to scramble for a new company while not being able to bake xmas cookies with my family. This was the worst customer service ever! I paid ahead for my propane. It was a ruthless business decision that I hope costs them the world. DO NOT GET AN ACCOUNT WITH THEM. read more
