Operationally, there do seem to be some issues.... When we first attended my husband and o both requested to be on a one shot at a time plan. I had read a lot of stories and from friends and family experiences encouraging the one shot at a time in order to identify any allergies, side effects and care for the baby post shot. It didn't seem to be an issue when we first saw Dr. Ali. We were even told we could come in just for a shot appointment and to be seen by the nurse. As time went on, things changed and they were more passive aggressive about the request... not letting us know what the issue was. It felt like the worst case of customer service and like everyone knew something but us... mind you my husband and I are not anti vax, this is just our first time parenting and we did want to take a more cautious approach. Eventually it came time to my son starting full time childcare and he was behind on his shots. We were told we couldn't just come in for shots anymore and would have to wait until his 2yo check up.... A week later. At this point, my husband and I were aligned and desperate to get him back up to date with his shots. We let them know we were ok with him having all three shots (the one we were behind on and his 2yo shots) in one visit and then they shared they didn't have availability until after his school started. I was at a loss, asked for the shot records and called Kingsland Pediatrics who was able to see him that week to get him back on track and approved for school. It was also a week away from my son's second birthday so I was hopeful they could do his 2yo shots together for a total of three shots and they were so kind to accommodate us. Additionally when I brought up a shot plan they said we can cocreate and clear shot plan with the dr on our first visit. Fast forward to after the appointment with Kingsland pediatric, my husband and I decided to still see sprouts pediatrics as our sons primary as I really didn't want to let go of the conveniences of easy parking, the empty waiting room and emotionally my experiences being affirmed by the staff as a new mom. This past weekend my son was admitted into the hospital for wheezing and server coughing attacks that led him having trouble breathing. When Monday came his health had not progressed so I called sprouts pediatrics for an appointment. One the first call I was booked an appointment and then received a voicemail that they'd need to cancel my appointment due to us no longer being patients. When I called to ask more about it ultimately it was due to us not allowing all vaccines to be administered in one appointment... In these last two years, they could've had more candor, they could have shared with us why that approach was in the best interest of my son or made an effort to mitigate our concerns or inform of us on what we don't know about each shot. What also wasn't reassuring is when we would get a shot the one administering the shot wasn't informed on the benefits of the shot... it was not reassuring. We then asked to speak to the dr about it and she went ahead and informed us on the shot and what it prevents and what symptoms to look out for. I'm now six months pregnant and looked forward to taking both my children here. It's truly upsetting and disappointing experience I would not recommend them to any parent going forward.

He offers thoughtful recommendations and valuable insights that make us feel confident in the care we're receiving. I also appreciate that the office almost always has same-day availability when my son is sick, which is a huge relief. Most of the staff have been friendly and professional, but I've had a couple of experiences with one assistant that made things...a bit uncomfortable. She came off as cold and disengaged, especially during moments when I was undressing my crying infant. A little empathy or even a few kind words would go a long way in easing the stress during those situations. It felt like she lacked the warmth and presence needed to work with young children. Especially when my son was getting blood drawn and she made no effort to interact or comfort him. That said, one thing that really stood out to me, especially as a new mom was the postpartum screening they did during my early visits. I didn't expect that level of care, and it meant a lot that the doctor took the time to go over my responses and make sure I was getting the support I needed. Overall, I highly recommend this pediatrician's office and truly appreciate the care Dr. Doan provides. It takes a lot of patience and a gentle approach to work with little ones, and for the most part, that really shines through here.

My son, who has asthma, had a severe flare-up a few months ago, and when I called the office for an emergency appointment, I was told there were no openings. As someone who works in the medical field, I know how critical it is to see patients in need or at least guide them to immediate care. Thankfully, another location saw him, but this was after a lot of stress. More recently, I called to ensure my son was all set before school started, and I was told he only needed a follow-up for his asthma. After his visit, I realized he needed an asthma action plan form signed by the doctor. When I called to get this done, I was told he needed a physical, even though he had just been seen two months ago. To make matters worse, scheduling a physical was difficult due to the timing. The final straw was the poor customer service I experienced when I went in. The front office staff was rude and unhelpful, even prioritizing a delivery person over me, a waiting patient. This lack of care and respect is unacceptable, and I'll be finding another provider for my son's care. It's disappointing that this office has lost the focus on patient care and service.

Then he started asking me if it's Medicaid, if it so, then they won't take it. Seriously this is ridiculous! I've never had to have so much trouble trying to make an appointment with a doctor when I'm 100% sure that my insurance is accepted there. This guy sounded Caucasian and most likely he thought since I got an accent, I would not be able to afford my own insurance and will be on Medicaid! We were pleasantly surprised to receive exceptional care from day 1 from Dr. Townsend. On top of that, administration and all support staff has always been incredibly friendly and helpful. In response to recent negations with BCBS, the staff sent an incredibly helpful and transparent email detailing options for patients to either choose to self pay or reschedule. They addressed all potential concerns openly and candidly, which was so helpful in a confusing time. We would hate to lose access to this wonderful office to care for our daughter, and hope BCBS and MH negotiations come to an agreement soon so we can return to our trusted pediatric home!
