My daughter sees Janet Pate for her pediatrician. She is less than six months old and I feel like Dr. Pate is the best advocate for us. I am a nurse myself, and can be picky at times for patient care but Dr. Pate has put me at ease and I feel that I 100 percent have the best pediatrician in all of Houston. I work within a large pediatric hospital, and for me to step outside the system to seek my own pedi is huge and speaks for Dr. Pate's capabilities. Dr. Pate has actively listened to all of our concerns, took account my personal health history, and truly been there for our family. 4 months now with Dr. Pate as our pediatrician, and we LOVE her! She's easy to get in touch with (the app messaging they offer is a life saver with a newborn!), spends ample time at each of our appointments really making sure that any and all questions I have are answered, and preemptively updates me on "what to expect" next with my daughter, such as milestones, potential pitfalls to watch out for, and guiding me towards resources that fit my parenting style. I really appreciate that she doesn't push medication as the end-all be-all for every ailment, and is supportive of gentle and more natural remedies such as probiotics, 100% breastmilk, and even making my own baby food once she's old enough for solids. I love Dr. Pate so much that I now recommend her to all my soon-to-be parent friends, and those that have started using her also sing her praise. If you're looking for a new pediatrician, I honestly can't say enough good things about our experience with Dr. Pate and her staff. From that first prenatal visit I knew my baby would be in good hands, and every time we see her that opinion is reaffirmed. If I could give six stars, I would. Dr. Pate has been our family's pediatrician since our first child was born in 2017, and we have been blown away by her and the whole staff at Nurture Pediatrics since the beginning (our first real appointment was a home visit after the birth -- what an amazing service!). We had a terrible interview with another pediatrician who only addressed my husband and was patronizing and belittling to me, but when we went to interview Nurture Pediatrics, the second we met Ms. Janie at the reception desk, we knew we were in a place that loves and values families and respects motherhood. Dr. Pate embodies sweetness and kindness, and she talks us carefully through every diagnosis, every milestone, everything we should watch for -- no matter how long the appointment takes. She has a very warm and calm demeanor and makes us feel reassured and confident. She helped us create a schedule for spreading out our children's vaccines more gradually, and has always given us useful parenting tips for each stage and cheered our family's successes, whether they came from her suggestions or not. We have had a few appointments with Dr. Arnal since she joined the practice, and every experience with her is great as well. She is very kind and thorough and professional, and we look forward to seeing her more as our kids grow! We also love and appreciate Ms. Janie and the wonderful nurses, Eny, Estefani, and Raquel. They are always so kind and gentle and understanding. They never rush us, and they show genuine interest in our kids and their lives. One specific thing that means a lot to me personally is that they always give us as much time as we need after vaccinations to comfort our kids, and they offer little prizes to cheer them up as well. Dr. Arnal began caring for our daughter when she was born over two years ago and for our son when he was born over 4 months ago. She is kind, caring, thorough, and never once seemed rushed. We saw Dr. Pate a handful of times as well and she is also just as delightful. Janie consistently goes above and beyond in her role at the office. She is communicative, efficient, and also so kind! She advocated for us and was persistent with getting answers when our insurance company had made a mistake. If it weren't for a recent insurance change, we'd stay with Nuture for as long as possible! It is one of the best experiences at a doctor's office we've ever had! Easy to access location with plenty of parking. The entire staff is so wonderful. Clean, modern office, and the wait times are minimal. Dr. Arnal is warm, kind, and extremely knowledgeable. She's always so patient with us and our questions. Dr.Pate is amazing! My first visit with her was in our home because I just gave birth to my daughter. She came over the day after I brought our baby home. Dr.Pate and her assistant came over and was so nice, helpful and informative especially since we are new Parents. She was thorough and gentle with our newborn all being professional and down to earth. Our baby has been so well taken care of by her staff every time I have been in! We get a printed chart of her progress every time we have been in. I love their online patient portal system and also the dr text message system. The text message app is awesome it has helped our baby girl with needed help with her fever , UV problem and digestive problems questions that come up after hours or weekends. Love Dr.Pate! Immediately switched our pediatricians after meeting her for our little ones ear piercing. Our baby's previous pediatrician would do a quick check up and then ask if we had any questions. As new parents it's hard to know what are the right questions to ask. Dr.Pate on the other hand, gave our newborn a through exam and then showed us various activities to do with our baby to build her motor skills! Definitely above and beyond. I also love the staff here, everyone is super sweet and they make sure there's always a room ready for our appointments so we don't have to wait to see the doctor! I Love Love Love Love Dr Pate and her team!!! I was with one doctor for the last seven years and her practice slowly went down hill to where I wasn't getting any type of response from their office, and when I would show up to appointments the staff seemed irritated. I had a daughter last summer and transferred my kids to a new pediatrician I located at that hospital. His practice was great in knowledge and call backs and appointments, it just didn't feel at home with bedside manner. I was so worried that I would not find another doctor and that bedside manner was something lost with practices these days. I found Dr Pate's practice when searching for another option for my son's 7 year check up. We went in and immediately were welcomed with a small family like atmosphere - which I love! I kept my eyes open and my guard up, I didn't want to commit to a practice without being comfortable. I am happy to say that all three of my children are now patients of Dr Pate. Office visits. If I get there early, I'm still seen. The immediate greeting and welcome is always a plus for my family and myself. Janie is always so attentive and takes great care of your concerns. & she always works to completion. A couple of times she has politely asked me if I could wait a moment so she can finish tending to another family, & she shows the same courtesy when taking care of my family's priorities, too! I just love this. How many offices are you told someone will do something later and then they forget?? Not here!! I just love this about this practice. Eny, too, is so compassionate with my children. She is kind enough that when the 2/3 of my babies that aren't being looked at get rowdy, she redirects them with ideas and toys they can play with. When my daughter had to get shots, she was compassionate and gentle with her and sensitive to her pain. Now, I know that nurses and medical assistants often rush through vaccines as a "yeah you're mom but your kid will be fine." & I know to an extent this is true, but to us mommy's our heart hurts a bit when our babies have to get shots. Eny is so understanding of this and doesn't make my babies feel as just another patient who has to get over this. Dr Pate - what a sweet doctor!!! She does not rush through appointments. She takes time to speak to you and answer all of your questions. My children are not afraid of her. She has children of her own and it shows in how she is able to redirect and engage my babies whenever they aren't so thrilled with having to be at the doctor. She is well versed in pediatric knowledge and is able to address your concerns with respect. I share with her things that I'm excited about that my children are doing in their growth milestones, and I'm sure she hears this all the time, but she smiles and rejoices with you at the growth of your children. I feel like I'm talking to a family member about my children sometimes, and then when she gives me medical knowledge I remember she is my kids doctor. All of my childs' visits are available to me on a secure portal, so if I forget some instruction and misplace my handout I can easily reference the portal. One of my favorites - you can text the doctor! I mean wow!!! How many of us see something new and go crazy and just want a "do this and come tomorrow" or "that is normal just look out for this" - JUST SOMETHING FROM YOU DOCTOR! Dr Pate has this and it is amazing! This practice is the new home for my babies!!! Dr.Pate was so highly recommended to me by a dear coworker of mine that I made an appointment with her for a second opinion on what I thought were some insect bites on my sons face. After three months of appointments with his now previous pediatrician and spending countless copays with no answers I decided to drive the 40 minute drive and see what this doctor had to say. I must say every second of that 40 minute drive was so worth it! She not only knew what it was, (not insect bites to begin with), but she educated me thoroughly on the diagnosis and how it came about. She did a thorough exam, answered all of my questions (even not related to what we originally came in for), took her time with us, and was just so sweet. I immediately fired that current pediatrician and made my sons checkup appointment with Dr.Pate. She even has an app where you can text her or send her pictures directly 24/7! Who does that?! I really cannot say enough good things about this place. A good friend recommended Dr. Pate to me, as she has been bringing her children to Dr. Pate for the past six years. I'm so glad I took that recommendation and came to nurture pediatrics. You rarely find a doctor anymore who will take the time to be with you and get to know you during appointments. Our appointments are never rushed, and Dr. Pate always takes the time to explain and talk through any concerns. It is clear that she genuinely cares for her patients and their parents. Also a note to those who choose selective vaccine schedules- while Dr. Pate is in full favor of the complete CDC recommended schedule, she will accept patients who choose selective schedules, and she does not condemn or judge those who choose to do so. I have always felt very comfortable about addressing my concerns about vaccines. Dr. Pate always listens, never looks down on me, and, with great diplomacy and consideration, talks through our options. She has taken the time to look at the CDC schedule, and highlight what she considers to be the most important vaccines. I love this about her! I am still on the fence about vaccines, but I am a firm believer that if you do choose a side, you need to know both arguments. It seems that Dr. Pate has taken a thoughtful look at the anti-vaccine argument, understands parents who choose to selectively vaccinate, and presents a logical schedule to accommodate that. read more
