That's how I ended up at Kennedy's Kakes. The name was already familiar -- I'd seen them at other events as a caterer and liked what they offered -- but I had no idea they were so close to downtown. Once I realized that, I made a quick stop during a coffee-and-sweets run. And let's just say the "quick stop" turned into a sampler situation. Once inside, I saw the lineup and decided to build a box so the beau could taste-test with me later. The vanilla rolls, the chocolate ganache roll, and the rose-pistachio rolls are simply divine! The cakes are moist and the syrup they use to moisten it is more than just a simple syrup. It's hard to pick a favorite but K and I agreed the winner (by a slim margin) was the pistachio roll with the rose-water syrup. They also have a great selection of cookies that are definitely not your run-of-the-mill selection. I love the nuts based cookies that have a textural mix of chewy and crumbly, while moist all at the same time. I can't recall their names but I would go so far as to say you can pick any (or all) randomly and just can't go wrong! The strip mall looked deserted and we wondered if the business had closed, or if we were sent in the wrong direction. This is a perfect case of not judging a store by it's location.

Gave them 3 photos & suggested my ideas, within minutes a cake was drafted to perfection. Fondant, with red velvet & cream cheese icing center. The cake was ready at the time I asked to pick it up, no addtl costs from the price that was quoted. And, the cake was delicious. This may not be an every day sweet treat as they are a bit pricey, but worth it for that special occasion & you know your cake will be wonderful. It's local small business & I highly recommend it.
