I had a very disappointing experience with Kelly's Machine Shop. I brought my engine in for a rebuild and was quoted 6 weeks, but the job ended up taking several months with ongoing delays and poor communication. When I finally received the engine, it didn't last long before failing. We later discovered that parts had been installed backwards during the rebuild, which directly caused lifter failures. This was a serious assembly error that should never happen at a professional machine shop. Despite this being a clear mistake made by his shop, Kelly refused to cover the additional parts costs and would not rebuild the engine in his own shop to correct the problem. Instead, he made us rebuild the engine again ourselves, even though the failure was caused by his negligence. While he did manage to get the lifters warrantied by the manufacturer, he still declined to take responsibility for the labor or the additional components required to fix the damage. After waiting months beyond the original timeline and then being forced to redo the entire rebuild due to basic installation errors, this experience was extremely frustrating and costly. I would not recommend Kelly's Machine Shop to anyone who expects accountability, proper workmanship, or adherence to quoted timelines. read more

I have been dealing with Kelly's for years while working as assistant parts manager at a Volkswagen/ Subaru dealership here in town. Now, that I'm working a different trade I myself needed some engine work done. I could type a novel here of all the goods to greats that they have done, especially shawn. Myself, came across financial hardship & an unspeakable situation that set me months behind. I contacted shawn to ask if my cylinder head was still waiting for me to pick up after 4 months & it sure was. It was like new. That cylinder head is in high demand & they held it for me. My lifters went out on my Chevy 5.3 and I was planning an LS build soon anyway so I figured since I was gonna have to tear the whole top end of my engine off I may as well start the build now. It is my daily driver so getting it done fast without sacrificing quality work was really important to me. I kept hearing about Kelly's from a few friends and decided to walk in with my heads to have them machined and rebuilt. Boss man snatched my heads up and said "I'll shoot you a call tomorrow." Sure enough, Man of his word, I get a call to come pick up my heads! Stopped by and my heads looked like they just came off the assembly line at GMC! Took 220,000 + miles off! And the price was fair! I can not say enough about Shawn's shop, I had to rebuild my 4.6 out of my 08 Mustang and before I picked this shop I went to several other shops and this one was what a engine machine shop should be (BTW I am a machinist and I know what to look for in shops). From the very first conversation about what I want to do and where I want to be in the future with this engine Shawn was honest with me. In the regards of "man I would not waste my money doing that" to great recommendations on what to do. I will admit somethings I was bummed about because I had my mind set on certain parts, but at the end everything exceeded my expectations and came in under budget. I needed to have a flywheel resurfaced a few months ago. I found Kelly's Machine shop through an internet search. I don't live near by, but my wife was going to be in the area on business, so I asked her to drop the part off, figuring I would make a trip back to pick it up in a few days. When she went in to drop the part off, the shop offered to do the work immediately if she had a little time to wait. The work was finished in about 30 minutes. Their willingness to do the job while my wife waited saved me from making a special trip back to pick up the part. They did a great job at a fair price, and the customer service was fantastic! Took my 5vz block in not to long ago to get bored and re-decked. While there Shawn walked me through the shop and I knew it was in good hands just by the shop. It was very clean inside for being a machine shop. I got my block back and remeasured everything they said they did. The deck was 100% true and the cylinder bores were perfect even down the the cross hatch pattern of every cylinder. They're truly masters at the craft. read more

I brought the 22R motor from my 1985 Toyota 4X4 pickup here and had them put together the long block for me. Punched it out .10 over, new bearings, pistons, crank and they re-milled the head. They did a fantastic job. I am back on the road and everything runs great. Shawn and his staff are very knowledgeable and friendly. first of all i bought the sweetest set of heads from these guys and they put my old valves and springs in and my new retainers and valve guides. came with head BOLTS AND HIGH TORQUE GREASE! 5 stars for that. went in again just looking for the high torque head grease and he handed me a tube and said have a nice day!. love it. if anyone needs machine work done on a motor, these are the guys. highly recommended. read more

It's tough to find a shop nowadays that is willing to work with a customer. They have a great attitude towards the customer and all their questions. They have helped me even though I came back a few times with questions about some things I wasn't to sure of. I highly recommend them like they were recommended to me.
