They are smooth talking but got the feeling that they are trying to up sell you things and cutting corners here and there. In the end, I got a strong working engine but ran into too many snags along the way. They forgot an oil plug at the rear of the block, luckily I noticed it before I bolted up the transmission. That would have been messy. Got talked into porting the exhaust manifold, but they took so much material off that my headers would not seal. Had to take my truck to another shop that modified the headers and made custom gaskets for it. When I complained about it, they flatly denied doing anything wrong. The engine has had oil leaks from the beginning. Even after having them tighten things up as recommended. They are minor leaks but still annoying. I got a sneak peek at their garage and assembly area, and all I saw was a bunch of teenagers, nobody I would consider an experienced machinist. They seem overwhelmed with business, and I know of other people that had good experiences, but I would say it is hit and miss and there has to better options than this place.

Mr. P is the one who went here, so forgive me for the uneducated "parts speak"!…read more By word of mouth, Mr. P was referred to Johnny Rackley's to mill his heads and block. He walks in and the record scratches. "Who sent you?", a gal bellows from the shop. In a small voice, Mr. P says that he had been referred here for his engine. "So, you've got work for me?", she replies. "Yes?" He notes that the gals are wearing bikinis and daisy dukes. The guys are dressed in normal shop shirts. In case you wondered. He brings his engine and discusses what he'd like done. Once it was determined that he was not a solicitor or with the IRS, his work was accepted. They were quite friendly after that. A great price for the work too...several hundred lower than a quote from another shop. They stayed in good contact with him, and let him know right away when the springs (?) he had ordered had one with an inner coil missing. They were patient as we ordered another set. Pickup was easy, and the cost was right on par with what was quoted. The only thing we weren't happy about was hitting our shiny metal with bead (abrasive bead blasting), so now it's a textured, flat surface. Doesn't everyone want a shiny motor? Overall, we would definitely come here again, and would just be more specific of our expectations at the end. The value is spectacular and the other work performed was top notch.
