In fifteen minutes, he corrected the problem for a reasonable fee. Look, y'all, I actually like that place across town that doubles as a pawn shop. The guys there are friendly and knowledgeable enough, but sheesh, sometimes I wish I could find an Army cot to nap on while I'm waiting to talk to someone. I recently bought a gun at THAT place, and paid fifteen dollars less than what Bastiani Arms charges. But then, if I'd bought the gun at Bastiani, I'd have about an hour of my life handed back to me. If saving every dollar is important to you (and believe me, I can get behind that with my Scottish ancestry 'n all), go to that other place and wade through the throngs of people as you wait for what passes for customer service. But, if you're willing to pay a few bucks more (or in the case of a brick of .22 ammo, eighty cents more) to deal with a shop that has it together, go see the folks at Bastiani Arms. Sometimes, you really do get what you pay for.

Patrick is THE man to talk about about shotguns, Marshall Jr is THE man to talk to about reloading, and the others behind the counter have always been knowledgeable about anything I've asked. I have bought firearms from Jones Fort and have also used them as an FFL. In both capacities they are good people to work with. Some shops try to discourage internet purchasing by setting their FFL fees way high (like $100). Jones Fort, last time I did a transfer, was $35 (EDIT: Not anymore, it's $100). Ammo prices are definitely reasonable in comparison to other shops around town. You might find a firearms cheaper elsewhere, but after dealing with the VERY misinformed people at Nice Shot and the lack of professionalism at Great Outdoors (EDIT: closed now), I'll be doing any future purchasing at Jones Fort. If the price is a little higher, I'll consider it worth it so that I can deal with professionals. EDIT: Well, unfortunately Jones Fort now charges $100 for transfers, and for the love of me I don't know why (save my theory that they wish to discourage internet purchasing). If the gun is used, though, and not likely to be found locally, why punish your customers? Does it really cost $100 for the labor and time to do transfers? If so, then I'll gladly pay, but the price seems inflated since I was able to do transfers through an FFL in Sacramento for a third the cost. Grinds my gears; not enough to not do it, but there's goes the fifth star.

They were patient and answered any questions that I had. In store I got to deal with both Jaime and Jacob. Both of these guys were very friendly, helpful, and professional! Had great conversations both times in was in the shop. I didn't experience anything like previous negative reviews indicated. I think they may have gotten a bad rap! He was super patient in showing and helping us pick out guns. I inquired about lessons and what paper work would be needed to purchase my first firearm so he let us know and also gave us two sheets of information. I shot with a Glock 17. Total for 2 people and 100 bullets was around $80. It's a $25 fee to rent a lane and we shared. I liked that he was honest and informative about when and where to purchase a gun and after I finished shooting he mentioned that I probably wouldn't need lessons --my accuracy wasn't bad for my first time! Planning on going today! Only complaint would be that it was hot and stuffy inside while shooting but still worth the 5 starts because of the customer service.

I was able to find a few good reviews on the BBB.org and on CalGuns so I reached out to them by email. Scott responded to each of my emails the following morning.
