I've recently…read morebeen confined to a wheelchair and wouldn't you know, it was during the time for me to renew my CCW. NFI has the classroom portion of the training available on ZOOM and I was able to utilize that program. The ZOOM call process was simple and the teaching right on par with the in person classes I've taken in previous years. The next day was the live fire range day and I was concerned about traversing the grounds at the gun club where this training was held. My concerns were for nought as staff was very helpful in ensuring that I could access my shooting lane and helped by making a couple of trips back to my vehicle to ensure I had all of my necessary equipment. I specifically had Emily as the range instructor and her techniques and directions were exceptional, not to mention her one-to-one assistance was greatly appreciated. As mentioned earlier, I've used NFI for many years and I expect that to continue. If you have CCW certification needs, I can highly recommend NFI.

Did my initial CCW Class with Dennis, and would absolutely recommend Black Oak for any firearms…read moretraining. I'm comfortable with firearms but would still consider myself at an intermediate level at best. Dennis explained things in a straight forward manner and made me feel comfortable asking a ton of questions. He gave me a lot of pointers on handgun technique and a number of drills to practice in the future. The class itself was incredibly well done, and we talked through a lot of real world scenarios which could impact a CCW holder or firearm owner. After the class we went through a couple of video/laser training drills on real world scenarios, which provided a great example of how fast your decision making has to be. I will definitely be taking future courses through Black Oak and would highly recommend them to anyone. Also, they took COVID precautions seriously, and I very much appreciated their commitment to protecting their customers and themselves.

My Friend & I went to a renewal class with Chris Evans, when we pulled up at his place he was very…read morerude and un friendly he didn't even introduce himself. We parked and came into his class 3 woman & 3 men. He talked constantly & very fast and cut on all the other business's that taught CCW courses. He's a very jealous person of what others have. Fancy boats and cars etc..... thats what he kept repeating. He talked about stories that didn't pertain to CCW renewal . He just rattled on & on . Finally he took us out to the range at 2:30 to shoot, It was horrible we were all to close together shoulder to shoulder 6 of us. Everyones bullet casing's were hitting us in the face. So my friend opted out of the class , she had enough. I continued on and he kept saying you going to quit, you going to quit, I had some double shots that he wouldn't count. I even had 5 or 6 shots right in the center red area , I shot really well this day. Anyway he failed all three of the woman that took his class. I know I passed with 17 but he still failed me. He also took a 40 minute lunch and kept us way past our 4 hrs he let us leave at 5 1/2 hrs he kept saying we are on his time like he owned us for the time frame! Weird Weird guy beware. FYI he wasn't Happy about me going pee after sitting for a couple of hours , I just helped myself to the bathroom. while inside he was rudely talking about I better not be going #2 . This guy was the most oddest person ever!

New "If I could give zero stars I would" This place is a…read moremoney grab, it's not worth it and you're better off going to the community college, even if it means that it will take a bit longer plus the cost is way lower than this place. I went in for the LVN program for the first two semesters and it was terrible. The first semester they try to cram in biology, anatomy and physiology all one, within 8 weeks. I passed that semester with high grade but it was truly done on my own. The instructors just read off of a PowerPoint presentation for 3 hours, there really isn't much teaching. Also they like to test their students with NCLEX style questions which seems like it would be a nice way to get experience for the real thing, except they don't show you how to take these type of testing or what to expect. I believe at one point the instructor said they expect us to fail these tests the first few times, as if that's some sort of way to teach? I was hoping that after that first semester was over and once we got into the actual LVN courses it would get better but it didn't. Same thing, it's a lot of teaching yourself as you go, and using a lot of outside resources to learn. For the amount of money they charge, you would think that you would receive a better education, but it seems like the instructors are only there to babysit you while you teach yourself. I will say there was one instructor that actually taught some classes, Allan, he was the only one that seemed like he was there to help students. I unfortunately had a family emergency that caused me to miss a day and since I was not able to make the hours up I decided to drop out of the program, which in hindsight was a blessing in disguise. Now I'm going to Shasta Community College to finish my degree and I'm actually leaning more and getting the tools I need to make a great nurse once I'm out in the real world. Another thing to take into account is their attendance policy, you cannot miss any days, making up the hours is impossible if you have a job. They don't care what the reason is, the only thing they'll "excuse" is a family death, which you will have to provide a death certificate to prove it. The place I work at has lots of graduates from this place and they never have anything positive to say about it, which should have been my warning. Overall I would definitely recommend not going here, the lure of having part time evenings classes available sounds great especially for those that have to work full time but I promise you it's not worth it.
