Found Keeping It Green on Yelp & went with them because of the high ratings. I was not disappointed. I needed a leaking sprinkler valve fixed. Not a big job, but in the process of doing the work, Mike saw that our sprinkler system was semi-old & gave me info on a rebate program through SoCal Water Smart for upgrading to $-saving nozzles on the sprinklers. No pressure from him, just told me how to look the rebate up online, gave me a quick run-down on how many nozzles he'd propose to switch out & cost per nozzle & labor. He simply told me to contact him if I wanted to do the upgrade. Once approved for the rebate, I had 2 weeks to get the work done. He called me back within a day & we planned the work within the week (my schedule actually prevented it from being done sooner). He was running behind schedule that day, but even when I offered to reschedule so he could go home at a reasonable hour, he wanted to stay & finish. He gave me a tour of the new sprinklers, explained how it works & re-programmed my timers to fit the new water flow. He emailed me the receipt necessary for the rebate that evening. Mike is a little hard to get a hold of, but I also called him during the hottest part of the summer when everyone & their brother were contacting him to get work done immediately. He's worth the 2nd phone call! Thanks, Mike! read more

I had a major geyser spewing from a broke sprinkler line which got me to finally get someone out to sort out my 20 year old irrigation. I asked him to also look at the rest of my sprinklers to make sure they were doing what they should. He was able to fix the geyser and address the sprinklers with more water efficient heads and cap a couple that were superfluous. Mine was able to come over quite quickly both times I needed him and is very reasonable in his pricing. I'm so glad to have him on my roster for when things go wrong. He's a good guy and does good work. read more

Mike replaced nearly all of my sprinklers with low flow sprayers a few years ago. This past month he came back and put drip line sprayers in all my backyard flower beds. I loved the new system so much that I asked him to extend it to the back and side fruit trees and vegetable garden areas. Now everything is connected to my timer system and I don't have to worry about hand watering. Mike and Jesse brought cheerfulness and laughter to the job and communication was great. read more

Mike replaced my sprinklers with drip systems as request. Plus, he did extra sprinkler projects I have wanted fixed for a while, one of which was to put extra drip systems for my stag horns. He did it all for the original price quoted which was reasonable. He is professional and kind. I will call him again as my garden progresses. Thank you. read more

We had a great experience with Mike from Keeping It Green Landscaping. Early Saturday morning we could not get our sprinklers to turn off. We called and left a message and within minutes he returned our call and set up an afternoon appointment. He assessed the situation and returned on Monday with supplies and began the repair. He explained what he was doing, was very polite, punctual, and professional. We would definitely recommend him to others! read more

Excellent job by Mike. Very professional. Had an emergency job that had a 1 day timeline. He was recommended by a friend but he us out of South San Diego and my lawn is all the way out in Oceanside. I didn't think he would be able to do it but I had to give it a shot. He answered and said he would make it work. He made it work. I paid him more than he charged because of his drive. Thanks Mike. Looks fantastic! read more

The sprinkler system that I have was put in back in 2009 so I've had a few minor technical difficulties with the Program Timer. It's one of the major brands but it's been discontinued at Home Depot so I bought this one online as it's pretty easy to program and it's reasonably priced. This is the 3rd one as the previous two had issues but this one didn't work for some reason. After replacing the Solenoids on the Sprinkler Pumps it still wouldn't come on when it was programed to start. So left a voice-mail for Mike to call me back. He called the next day and set a time. Unfortunately he got hung up in traffic but called to let me know he was running behind. We scheduled for the following Monday and Mike arrived on time. He assessed the situation and determined that it was a miss wiring on my part so I felt pretty dumb that I had put the wire in the wrong socket. But Mike didn't make me feel that way so it's all good. I paid him and said our goodbyes. Overall, I'd recommend Keeping it Green Landscape to others. Mike is personable, knowledgeable and courteous. read more

Really happy with the results from Mike! He was able to come to my property in a timely manner for a quote and was able to complete the job the next day! His price was fair and he offers a lot of services from yard cleaning, to weed removal/treatment and even small/medium tree branch removal/shaping. I didn't have to worry about disposing any of the trimmings either as he took those with him. Would definitely use him again in the future and recommend him! read more

Extraordinary service! I was having sprinkler problems in the front yard. Called KIG Landscape on a Saturday and Mike told me he'd be out at my house 6 pm. I expected a quote and perhaps an appointment to return another day, but instead Mike starts troubleshooting the problem, fixes the issue, tells me exactly how to obtain rebates from the water company, and then charged me a very fair fee for his services. I was impressed with his customer service and willingness to help immediately. We have set up an appointment for him to return next weekend to help upgrade my backyard irrigation system. I would highly recommend Mike's company to anybody. Al Torres. read more

Mike provided excellent service, explained things very well, and quickly addressed the issues I had. He saved me some money by replacing only some of the heads with new ones that can reach farther out (instead of replacing all heads in me entire yard). Friendly guy, friendly service. I recommend him to anyone needing diagnosis and repair. read more

I was lucky enough to be referred to Mike through a friend. Our water bill was nearly $1,000 a month on our 2 acre property in Rancho Santa Fe and in spite of that, our lawn was brown and mostly dead. Mike came in and very quickly diagnosed the problem: low efficiency spray heads, broken lines and a poorly optimized watering schedule. Along with his crew he was able to change most of the heads to high efficiency rotating heads and set a proper watering schedule. I assure you this was no small task on our large property, but Mike did the job quickly and for a very fair price. Fast forward 4 months and our lawn and landscaping are greener than ever, and our water bill has dropped to around $300 a month. His services paid for themselves in very short order. A true professional! read more

I don't know - I was really looking forward, based on these Yelp reviews, to getting Keeping It Green to help me adjust the heads on my existing system and help me set up water for some containers but I called twice over a three-day period two weeks ago and they haven't returned my calls. Maybe I shouldn't have left a voicemail announcing it was a "small job". read more

My house had a sprinkler system that was in desperate need of an overhaul/tune-up. I called the number and left a message on Tuesday around lunchtime. Within an hour or two, Mike had called back. We set up an appointment for the next day. He arrived promptly, assessed the system, explained what he'd need to do, and quoted me a very reasonable price. We made an appointment for him to come back on Friday, he arrived early with his brother, and had the thing fixed within two hours, all for the exact price he quoted me. My current house is the only place I've ever lived in that has a sprinkler system, so naturally I am not at all familiar with their workings. In other words, somebody could come out here and quote me any price he wanted and tell me that all kinds of things are wrong with the system. But Mike was honest and a square-dealer all the way. He recommended replacing the modular system that controls the sprinklers, but he easily could have taken advantage of me and told me I absolutely needed a new system for another $200. He didn't. I didn't end up buying the new system, but when the old one does break down completely, I'll be calling him back here for sure. I would whole-heartedly recommend Keeping It Green. Mike is a local guy, born and raised in SD. And in addition to being honest, he's a hard worker -- he works a full-time job in addition to running the company -- and obviously cares about what's doing. read more

I am very impressed by Mike's work. I called him for a sprinkler repair that a different landscaper caused and he came the same day and fixed it quick for a very reasonable price. I am very happy I found him and I will use him in the future. Also, he not only fixed my sprinkler but also used a better sprinkler head that is more water efficient. I am overall extremely happy. read more

When i noticed a stagnant puddle near my irrigation/sprinkler box I went on yelp to find someone for the job. I called just about everyone listed on yelp and Mike was the only one that called me back promptly (less than a minute)! He came over the next day and boy was i relieved...he is not only friendly, but NORMAL! It was about 95 degrees out and he worked his butt off! He is very honest and his rates are very reasonable. I'm so glad I found someone to deal with my sprinkler system from now on (and Mike, I'll try harder to not run over my sprinklers with the lawn mower! hehe!) Don't waste anymore time looking for an irrigation system guy...Mike is your man! read more

We had a great experience with Mike. When we moved into our house, there were all kinds of problems with our sprinkler system and our yard looked it. With Mike's help, we got the system working so now I'm less hesitant to buy new plants. Mike showed up ready to work and quickly diagnosed the various problems with our sprinklers in different parts of the yard. We'll probably need some additional help once we decide what new plants we want to put in and I'd use Mike again in a heartbeat. read more

When I first bought my home I made the mistake of calling Chula Vista lawn who installed the wrong type of system on a slope in my backyard, this was causing a run off of mud. I called Mike and he agreed to come out and do the work, not only did he do what he had said but there was a leak in one of the sprinkler pipes and he repaired it, free of charge. Haven't had that kind of customer service in a long time, not to mention he gave me a military discount, I would definitely recommend. read more

I found Keeping It Green on Yelp, and was impressed with the 5 star rating. I called them in the the morning and left a message. He responded later in the day and told me he would be over in the afternoon. My sprinkler system watering the front yard didn't cover the area well, and I thought I would need to have the system changed to add a couple of sprinkler heads. Mike took a look at the problem, and decided that the problem could be corrected with new sprinkler heads. He had a replacement units with him, and fixed the problem. I get great coverage now. I also had him change the sod in some areas and he did that a couple of days later. He did a fine job and charged a reasonable price. I wouldn't hesitate to use him again. read more

If I could give this company more than 5 stars, I would. Mike was polite and professional over the phone and in person. I had tried calling other companies to get a quote on getting my sprinklers fixed but either they didn't answer, call me back, or was way too expensive. Mike called me right back after leaving a message, and he came over next day to give me a free quote on the fix. He even provided irrigation options for the sprinklers and general irrigation tips and information. He didn't pressure me into buying anything or needing a right-away-answer. He even mentioned a rebate that could save me money, but unfortunately the water company that does the rebate recently changed how much rotating sprinkler heads you must purchase to a higher number than what I needed to purchase. Regardless, I went with the rotating sprinkler heads. I am very pleased with Mike's work and his company. I highly recommend him for the services he provided! read more

I called Mike after lunch for a small job to cap/fix faulty valve that was leaking water in our front yard. He was there by 4PM, fixed it in less than an hour and price was very reasonable. Great job - we'll do more business in the future. Thanks Mike! read more

My yard was as hard as a rock, and because of this, my grass way dying in some spots and puddling in other spots. Of all the four quotes I received to help me fix this, Mike's prices were competitive -- not the cheapest, but certainly not the most expensive. What impressed me was that when he came to look at the project, he could immediately spot low spots in my yard that I hadn't noticed, explain to me what he would do, and then emailed me the quote with more detail than any other quote. For example, it said, "sod cut and haul away existing lawn in front and rear of residence. Then add in 1 yard of topsoil, soil amendments and rototill said lawn areas. KIG will install 200 linear ft of headerboard around new lawn areas. KIG will also install 2 yards of rock for front yard shrub area. Then repair any irrigation problems, grade out lawn areas, and then lay 2400 sq ft of Tall Fescue Sod." Mike's work reflected this detail, as he managed his crew, let me know what he was going to do before he did it, and always kept me in the loop. After he was complete, he walked me through the project, explained to me what he did, why he did it, and how to maintain it. These were things like why he turned off some sprinkler heads, changed some of the sprinkler heads, how often to water while the sod was growing, what steady state watering should look like, etc. I will not hesitate to hire Keeping it Green Landscaping again for any of my yard or irrigation issues. read more

Found Keeping It Green on Yelp, called Mike this morning. He responded within the hour and showed up at the promised time this afternoon. My sprinkler system control unit would not shut the sprinklers off and in addition was spraying water from the unit--under pressure-- at several gallons a minute. Had to shut the water to the house off so as not to flood the neighborhood. Mike diagnosed the problem, luckily had a replacement unit with him, fixed the problem, also replaced a sprinkler head and put everything back he way he found it--in half an hour. He explained the process all along the way, made a couple of suggestions regarding the other sprinkler heads, charged a reasonable price and went on his way. What a great experience! read more

On a Friday afternoon my husband tried to fix our sprinklers and install a new water regulator soon he had leaks that were not there when he started so he said we needed help. I wasn't sure if we could get anyone to come out on a Friday but Mike was there in about an hour, fixed the leaks and installed the regulator, came back on Monday and replaced our sprinkler heads to nore efficient one. Very satisfied with the service. read more

I'm completely disappointed with keeping it green. We had several contractors come to our house to give us an estimate of what our landscaping project was going to cost. We had a specific time frame to getting it done, no more than two weeks, and our budget for the whole project. After meeting with 8 different people and hearing their proposals, ideas, estimates, not to mention the friendliness and customer service right off the bat, etc. we decided to go with Mike, as we felt it was going to be the best deal for our money. He guaranteed he would be done in 5 days tops, and for much less than we actually had budgeted. Sounded pretty awesome. We called him back within 3 days of his initial consult, left a message, no return messages or phone calls, couple of days later we call again and left another message, sent an email, no return calls or emails, we kept trying to get a hold of him for two weeks!! Then he finally called us back only to say he was waiting for the "go ahead" from us. Are you serious!? We've been trying to give you the "go ahead" for two weeks now! And all this hassle before he even started any work!! So we do a little dance again of trying to call him back and ask when can he start, contracts we need to sign, when do we pay him, etc. This goes on for another week without any returned calls or messages. Honestly, it doesn't take 2 minutes to return a call! If you're busy with another client, that's fine. Call us back and simply say, "Hey I'm finishing up work with another client. I'll get in touch with you in a few days and we can go over all the details." No problem! But he couldn't even do that. Such a waste of time. Very unprofessional. Clearly, Mike was too busy and isn't in need of our business. That's fine. Wish he would have just turned us down from the beginning--it would have saved everyone time and energy. We found another great company who has excellent customer service and even better work. Best of luck to keeping it green. read more

I used them in San Diego. i had a man named Mike do my sprinklers. It cost me a lot of money. I thought he did a good job, but 2 weeks latter I checked the system and and were broken again. I called and he came out again the replaced somethings. The problem was he charged me more money. Then a month later I checked again, more problems. He came out again and charged me more money. It has been 4 times now of him coming over and finding new things that are wrong and charging me more money. I am done. I will find another company. read more

My irrigation was all messed up and I expected a very expensive fix. But Mike arrived and changed out the nozzles on my existing sprinkler heads and now everything works again, and it did not cost much at all. Highly recommended. read more

Gotta give it up for my man Mike. We bought a house 6 months ago and inherited a janky sprinkler system with it. A few weeks ago 3 of the heads on the same line stopped working and my lawn turned brown. At this point, I turned to yelp for local sprinkler repairmen. I found Mike and was impressed by all his 5 star reviews. I called on a Sunday and left a message. Even though it was his day "off" I received a phone call about 30 minutes later from Mike himself. He came over a few days later and did a free assessment. I don't know what he did, but he simply touched my system and those three heads started working again. He also fixed all the angles of my existing heads. He popped off one of my nozzles and showed me how they have new rotating nozzles that are more water efficient. He also told me about a Socal water $mart initiative where they pay for $4 of each $7 for each new nozzle. Our water bill has been high and we had a bunch of dry patches in the lawn so I decided to go for the new nozzles. He called me the next day saying he had a cancellation and came over. Within an hour he had replaced all the nozzles in the front and backyard. Not only that, he capped a few sprinkler heads that were unnecessary and altered some that over sprayed. In our backyard he totally redid the previous owner's shoddy pipework. He replaced a busted pipe and a messed up drip line. All in all, he did about 3 hours of work, replaced 20 nozzles with new water efficient ones (which CA will refund more than half), and replaced and fixed the back drip line. Final cost was $350. I would hire Mike again in a heartbeat. He was a cool guy, joked around, offered advice, and responded quickly. If you hire him, you won't regret it. read more

I had some serious issues with my sprinkler system and the guy I normally use couldn't be bothered to come fix it. So I turned to Yelp, and found Mike H. He came, quickly diagnosed the problem, and had me up and running in no time. Thank you Mike. I'll be calling you again. read more

I called KIG based on high ratings on Yelp. Micheal Hernandez runs the business and contacted me later in the day to make an appointment. He came out fixed the initial problem, then explained the larger problem (leaking valves and bad solenoids, which I knew already, an old system with inefficient arrangement of heads). We came up with an agreeable plan, which he executed over the next two days, changed to Rainbird heads, and a new manifold with valves and a main. Very nice guy, very honest, gave me a written quote, and came in slightly under it. Also made me aware of rebates through the water district, which saved me $120. read more

Mike was great! We called on a Saturday and he was out on Monday. He fixed our sprinklers that we had broken, capped off a couple that weren't necessary and added some joints to the main water line to make it more flexible (prevent from breaking). He even gave us his advice on some grass issues we are having. His prices were very fair and reasonable. He was also very professional, courteous and helpful. We have his business card on our fridge just in case we run over our sprinkler again. read more

Very helpful, was out the day I called, and reasonable in cost. We have to have foundation work done - that contractor needs the sprinkler system disabled due to digging. Also, I wanted the sprinkler station moved from up against a crawl space, to an area away from the house. He assessed the sprinkler layout, and knew what to do. Will definitely have KIG back to reconfigure the sprinkler system when the foundation is fixed. read more

Mike is very professional, and reasonably priced and efficient. He changed out front yard sprinkler heads to more water efficient heads, fixed broken heads and took the time to explain optimal watering time and length. My landlord is happy that with the water efficient sprinkler heads, the water bill should go down! read more

I called Keeping it Green on Monday to get a bid on revamping our sprinkler system which did not appear to be working properly. Mike called back later that day and set a time for Wednesday which was convenient for both of us. He showed up on time, diagnosed the problem, and made the adjustments on the spot. It turned out to be a rather simple fix rather than what I expected and he was quick to sort out the issue. The cost was minimal and he was a really good, honest and easy to deal with person. I would use him in the future and reccomend him whole heartedly. read more

My sprinkler system was in pretty bad shape, you name it, I had it: a leaky valve, a faulty controller, broken sprinkler heads, dead spots in the lawn etc. Mike came out and offered a complete solution at a reasonable price. Mike is a very nice fellow and knows his business. He occasionally gets behind on returning calls, but when he does come out, the work is done well. I was leaving the country and wanted to make sure my sprinkler system was running correctly and had no issues. I also wanted to change some sprinklers over to drip and add a new line in my hillside for tress. I called Mike on a Monday and he came over the very next day to look things over. He was willing to do everything and even plant the trees for me. After three bids I thought his quote was quite reasonable and he even told me about a SD water rebate that nobody else mentioned. Mike was able to start my job on Friday and he finished the work by Monday. I was impressed how fast the job went. Even when I found a problem with a couple of capped off sprinkler heads he came over that same day and fixed them. I believe Mike is a good honest person who does a wonderful job.
