If it were possible to give negative stars, I'd give Heald Irrigation negative 10. They were horrible!!! Pay a couple hundred more and save yourself huge headaches! I wish I had.
First of all I wrote a contract in which I specifically wanted the irrigation lines burried 12 - 18 inches below grade. I know that's a lot, but that's what I wanted and since that's what I paid for, that's what I expected to get. I needed sprinkler lines run all over my property including lawns, flower beds, fruit trees, and some spikets. I wanted it all hooked to an automatic timer so I never had to worry about it. Sounds simple enough right??? HA!
Well, first of all the lines are not burried more than 1 - 2 (that's right one to two) inches below grade. In fact in MOST spots the lines are actually showing now! The owner gave me an estimate that was a few hundred dollars lower than the other company I was thinking about going wtih, so I hired Heald Irrigation. Then after they started the work, the owner wanted to be paid half now and half when the job was finished. That was not what we discussed originally, but he said he needed to buy materials. Oka fine -- then he said he wouldn't take a bank check or a personal check made out to the business. He wanted to be paid IN CASH OFF THE BOOKS or he would have to charge more. I should have walked away at this point, but they had already started the job and I felt trapped. WALK AWAY!!! What kind of *reputable* business does that?! The real kicker though is that the guy had his two 9 year old kids digging the trenches to lay the lines. I kid you not! It was summer vacation so the kids were just helping dad on the job. Are you F***ing kidding me?!!! And where was dad -- oh he went to lunch and left these two young boys alone on my property for over an hour and a half.
The sprinklers worked fine at first, but now almost none of them work. I don't know if the sprinklers were just inferior products, installed incorrectly, broken, or what's wrong with them. The automated timer thing seems to work fine, but how can you tell when the sprinklers don't work? The gardener that I hire says that almost all of the sprinklers used for the trees and flower beds are the wrong ones and won't provide adequate water to my plants the way they are set up now -- IF they even worked at all!
SHOTTY WORKMANSHIP, POOR QUALITY, NO RETURN PHONE CALLS WHEN YOU HAVE PROBLEMS. ONCE PAID THEY'RE GONE AND SO IS YOUR MONEY!
Anyway, now I need to hire a REAL company -- professional this time, to come in and take out the crappy work done by Heald Irrigation and install a professional sprinkler and irrigation system on my property. If you know of any good ones, I'd love to hear from you.
DO NOT USE HEALD IRRIGATION!!!!!!!! THEY ARE THE WORST CONTRACTOR. YOU WILL BE SORRY YOU WORKED WITH THEM!!! read more
