Absolutely thrilled with Dave Lozoya and his work. Dave is extremely professional, punctual, honest and thorough. He really understood our "vision" and explained all of our options to us to help us make the most educated decisions on our driveway renovation. He did not pressure us to make a decision to move forward with the quoted job right away, gave us ample time to think about our options, and got us on schedule to start work with no delay as soon as we were ready. Our driveway was extremely old uneven asphalt and our side yard was dirt and overgrown weeds. He demo'd and poured a beautiful driveway and side yard pathway for us. Pictures provided. We experienced a hiccup during the job which was out of both party's control (unexpected city street paving) and Dave and his team handled it very seamlessly. I found Dave Lozoya on yelp and gave him a call because he had excellent reviews. His pricing was very competitive and I appreciated that he wouldn't commit to my timeline until he was sure he could make it work. He completed on time except for the few days we were rained out, which is definitely not his fault. The quality of work was excellent and he did a great job of laying out decorative joints. On top of that he left my front yard clean each day and when the job was done. When Ramona experienced flash flooding not too long ago, the retaining wall holding up our front patio simply fell away, leaving us feeling very vulnerable to disaster. We live on a hill, & scary to think our patio & house could just wash away. I went on yelp for some recommendations, and decided to ask Dave Lozoya Concrete for a bid because of his favorable reviews. He did not disappoint. Dave was very prompt, friendly, knowledgable and thorough. He and his hardworking crew were on the job at 7 am (or earlier) every day for at least a week during a sweltering heatwave, working a difficult job in the heat. They were efficient and explained to me exactly what they were doing as the job progressed. They added rebar and rebuilt the entire retaining wall, adding drainage components to avoid similar problems in the future. I thought his price was reasonable, considering how difficult the job was. Dave and his crew removed an old asphalt driveway and poured a new concrete one for us. He does excellent work. He arrived on time, quickly removed the old driveway and worked with my schedule to pour the new driveway. It looks better and better every day. We have a steep driveway and he used a medium brush to give the surface texture so we can drive on it when it's wet and not slide the tires. We asked Dave to come out and give us a bid on our driveway job which involved taking out the old driveway and extending it down the side of the house to the back yard. He had told my husband that we would get a bid in a few days. When over 2 weeks went by without hearing from him my husband called him and he said we would have one in 4-5 days that he was really busy. We waited another 2 weeks and never heard anything. I think he didn't want the job (see below) but was not nice enough to tell us. We, however, were nice enough to tell him he was crossed off the list. We wanted it graded down to the existing slab we have for the storage shed that will abut the driveway when finished. When he was here he complained about how much it would cost for him to rent a dump truck to haul away the dirt, and the extra labor involved etc etc. He just wanted to pour on top of what was there and have the finished DW higher than what we wanted it. We had 3 other contractors come out and all gave us bids and he was the only contractor that had a problem with this. It was not even mentioned as being a problem by any one else. I mean after all, grading is part of putting in a driveway or doing any slab work. HIs complaints on what it would cost him was totally ridiculous. That's what a bid is for. You don't complain to the potential customer how much it is going to cost you. You price it so you turn a profit for the job and then let the customer decide. As it turned out, we went with the contractor who gave us the highest bid (Primo Concrete) because he was the most responsive to our bid specs. read more

We hired Dave to put in a meandering, stamped-concrete walkway, some curbing and a pad and ramp outside of our backyard gate. We're delighted with his work, and some of our neigbors have even stopped by to ask for Dave's card. His prices were fair and the work was done exactly the way we wanted it, and on time. We have a very old house with a narrow driveway. We decided to dig up a couple of planters and use that space to widen the drive. That also meant wrecking out a set of concrete stairs and building them back a bit smaller. Dave listened to our plan and made good suggestions. He and his helper were able to create a stairs-form that looked just like our old porch stairs from the 1920s - which means the work looks like it has been this way since initial construction! He also made several excellent suggestions along the way, and was reliable and prompt on days we expected him to show up. It's pretty rare to have a great experience with a contractor, but in this case we did. Highly recommended! read more

Dave is very knowledgable. At the initial bid eval. he caught and talked about issues (nearby footing for wall, drainage slope) that another bidder didn't mention. His bid was fair (he spanked the other bid :-). He was on time each day. His team was polite, courteous and personable. He even trimmed the side yard gate for me after the new concrete was poured. The finished product was great and looks amazing. The 25 Years experience showed for sure. (A California Contractors License Check shows he's in good standing and no complaints filed). Negatives: He used my trash can for some left over stuff (not alot but most hail their own. And I don't care too much but some Do so I added this comment). Didn't really offer alot of direction on when it would be ok to have cars on the new drive and etc. Or any treatment to it later on. But them again it's concrete so what much else is there? Not too tech friendly (email - but he's learning) :-) That's it. Overall 5 out of 5 and I would use him again. I can't see him not beating anyone else's bid so consider hitting him up to atleast compare. read more

We had David come to our home for a driveway /pathway estimate several weeks ago and have still not heard back. I emailed to ask why/when with no reply. If he didn't want to do it we should have at least been notified so we could get another company to bid. 10/7/15 Received an email with an estimate. The pricing was excellent and the quality was top notch. The start date was pushed back numerous times, but that didn't bother me as our project was not time sensitive. Dave Lozoya takes pride in his work, and the finished product had several details that showed that they went above and beyond the minimum required. We had asked them to break up and haul away our current driveway also. David and his crew were awesome. We hired him to widen our driveway, put in a cute design, add some pillars and tear out our old brick walkway and replace it with a pretty concrete one. They did a phenomenal job! I had a hard time visualizing the end result as there was a lot of demo work done, but David had a vision and articulated it each step of the way. He was clearly very knowledgeable and confident about what would look good. I really appreciated how clean his crew kept the work area. They had to remove a lot of brick and they stacked it so nicely for us, and they removed a lot of plants and hauled it for us as well. They got the project done in a timely fashion.
