Oh my god... falafel galore!!! I love falafel (good falafel), not all falafel is created equal. I've had some really good falafel and some really bad falafel in my life but this one is up there. Came in for lunch twice and both times got falafel, that's how I know theirs is on point- I was craving it the next day (and now as I type this review). It's super flavorful and FRESH is all I can think. It reminds me of the authentic falafel I get overseas, and not many restaurants can nail this flavor in the US. They have many other dishes and sandwiches to choose from but I'm not sure when I'll get sick of the falafel to be able to try something else. I decided to visit Kebab Skewer during my most recent trip to NC. The reviews weren't plentiful, but they were promising. The last time I visited a new place with promising reviews, I fell in love with Everest Nepali Kitchen. I was hoping for a similar experience at Kebab Skewer. Kebab platters here are $9.99 with a $1.99 upcharge for better proteins. It's not the most straightforward menu, and this silly line could be easy to miss. I don't understand why they didn't simply list the prices in a straightforward manner. $12 is above average for a lamb kebab from a hole in the wall place in Cary, but the flavors and quality would surely justify this. Food came out in a reasonable amount of time. The first thing I immediately noticed is the portioning. I don't know if I've fallen victim to the size of the plate, but the portioning definitely seemed below average. The lamb was good, even very good, but not great. The rice was rice, but the salad had absolutely disgusting dressing. *Edit* Taking out my cheesy rhyme to say that I respect Kebab Skewer's efforts and appreciate their response. Favourite kebabs I've had in a long time... the flavour of just the meat was spectacular. We tried the chicken, beef and lamb, and honestly were happy with all three choices. The meal was prepared timely and the box's for the beef and lamb filled generously- thank you. Beef Koobideh was tasty and if you'd like to have it with a sauce of your own at home go ahead, or enjoy on its own. Chicken Kebab tied for first place. The citrus rang true and the only thought was we wished the pieces were cut smaller, but honestly taking smaller bites works just as well or use knives Lamb Kebab also tied first place. I'd order this again in a heartbeat with no questions asked. The herbs were just right and it was over drenched in sauce. There was a great serving amount to share with another person easily, and also palatable to someone else that couldn't do much spice. It is a straightforward, unassuming little corner restaurant. Honestly, hesitated to go in, but the previous reviews were encouraging. We were VERY pleased. The place was empty, clean, and the owner really cared that we enjoyed our food. We left very full. We shared a kibbeh appetizer ( it was made with lamb, which we generally do not prefer to eat except grilled) It was very well made.. although I wish it could be made with beef-- a little lighter on the stomach and palette. The bread for our chicken and beef shawarma sandwiches were fresh made, the proportions were more than satisfying... the spices were delectable, and not overwhelming. My family after here yesterday and it was fantastic! I had the beef keema and my hai and had one beef and one lamb kofta skewers. My kids loved the gyro meat, the rice and the seasoned waffle fries. So my wife says this is the best falafel she's ever had... I can't disagree, but I don't have a boat load of other falafel to compare it to. I'm a definite fan of this place... I'll have to head back soon! The baklava -- amazing! We ended up having one after our meal and then picked up a few more to take home. They're affordable and delicious: highly recommend! We sort of sampled the menu when we were here. The meat dishes were all tasty ~ it probably just depends on what you're in the mood for and they'll prepare it well. I was a big fan of their hummus and bread too. I'd be perfectly happy with that and some baklava for a meal tbh!
