Cannot say enough bad things about the sales practices at Keating Honda. I'm in the market for a preowned vehicle, nothing in "short supply" and reached out to see if it was available. Everything was going smoothly until we got to the actual "out the door price". They tack on a $4590 "Keating pkg & service reconditioning" charge that includes LoJack, "paint and fabric protection" and paintless dent repair. When I pointed out that I didn't want these things, they flipped the script and said I "was asking for a discount" as opposed to what I actually wanted which was to pay for the car, dealer fees, and be done. Shady practices like these should be avoided and dealers need to be shamed when they try tacking on packages that cost 1/5 of what the car itself costs. read more

The next day John sent me a text in the AM confirming our appointment that day with his picture in front of the car, I confirmed. I sent John a text that I was in traffic and would be 15 minutes late. When I arrived at dealership the car was parked out front, I went to the front desk asked for John and he jumped up from a desk in the area and told me that he just sold the car and he was with the client. Very poor communications. You don't conduct business this way. The scheduled appointment meant nothing. The are allot more professional sales people at dealerships out there. My service advisors lacked customer service, was arguing with me in front of his manager after I confronted him for adding additional charges that I didn't authorize or had discussed with him. Beware of Hidden Fees and Broken Promises I made a deal on a used vehicle listed online for $11,000, but when I arrived at the dealership, they tried to tack on over $6,000 in unwanted fees. Somehow, that $11,000 deal turned into more than $17,000! Talk about shady business practices. Buyers, be very cautious -- make sure you get everything in writing and double-check the numbers before signing anything. After agreeing to the purchase, I left the car overnight so they could repair some glass chips, but after several days of follow-up, the work was still not done. Then Philip (service manager) had the audacity to tell us it had been completed -- when it clearly hadn't. I live in Conroe so wanted to keep business here with Keating Honda, but they showed no interest in finding me a white RTL-E so I purchased one at Gillman SW where I was treated like a valued customer. Honda's come with a 2 years or 24K mile oil change maintenance promotion. I had my first couple oil changes done at Keating. I called 2 weeks in advance for my last service to make sure I was within the age and mileage, which I was. When I arrived a young person came to check my vehicle in and validate all the info. I went in the waiting room and she shortly came and got me and said I was 1 day late for the coverage. I informed her she was mistaken. She brought me to a blonde haired black earing service writer who looked at his computer and said I was 1 day late. I informed him he was mistaken, he said there was nothing he could do. He never looked at me just kept denying coverage. He didn't have any cards on his desk so I don't know his name. I left and called Honda Corp who said I was still covered and the dealership was mistaken. I called back and talked to the service manager who was very nice and told me to come back in and he would take care of the service. I came back the next day and had the work done. This original service writer knew I was there but never came to apologize. I'm happy things got done but It was a lot of time driving back and forth and spending time on the the phone with Honda Corp and Keating, this was just because of one person who is incompetent. I came in for schedule maintenance for my 2016 Honda Civic. Had serpentine Belt changed and oil change done. I also requested for my ac to be looked at. My ac worked fine, but on really hot days. Car would struggle to cool quick. I asked to be looked at to see if this was normal. My car was kept over a week. Roger Hickey(service adviser) called me a week later & stated that they Had to do "Warranty work " they claimed to have changed parts that were still under warranty. & claimed my ac was blowing cold cold. Great! Roger gave me an invoice stating all the work that was done. Got on my car drove it for a couple of miles before my AC completely stopped cooling. My ac was working before I dropped it off. I contacted Keating & Honda America. About the issue. I took it back after a visual inspection and noticed a damaged ac condenser. I spoke to Craig Bednarek ( Service manager) I showed him the invoice & damage on the condenser. He said: The ac not working is most likely because of the High mileage Not the condenser. I was not offered a second attempt to make it right, I was not offered a loner car. I was not offered any type of assistance to the work they did. September in the Texas Heat. I had to leave Keating Honda with a bad ac. Determined to get Keating to fix my ac like it was when I took it in. I spoke to: Tim wright ( fixed operator director) after getting a text from him asking how everything turned out. After talking to him and showing him all that was wrong. He informed me that since I contacted Honda America. All communication needed to be done through Honda America. Honda America could not get a reply from keating....... So I went to get a second opinion. New shop had my car fixed the next day They had to change the ac condenser.(damaged) recharger refrigerant. And replace a o ring that was installed incorrectly as well. Spent a little over 1000$. 2 weeks later I get a call from keating. Informing me that they looked at all possible options . There systems determined that I needed a whole new ac system. My cost was 5680$ but they would give me a discount for all the trouble. Reminder: keating Honda was the one that replaced "bad parts" under warranty. By then my car was already fixed. I never thought I would be treated like this anywhere. My Car came in with a working AC and I got it back a week later with a none working ac. How hard is that to understand Keating HONDA By the way. my car keeps cooling and running strong! I really love this dealership for not returning my calls and texts after I told them I was having problems with my steering wheel getting stuck and not being able to loosen it after working a 12 hour shift. None of my wonderful co-workers could help me and were perplexed. My Daddy said just to take it back to the dealership and not to pay a red time and they better fix it completely. Since I just bought this 2020 less than three months ago it is so disappointing that I'm having a problem with this car already. Do not trust their car price quote. After many visits had settled on a vehicle and was interested to move forward with it. We called the day of and reconfirmed twice what the price would be of the vehicle not including tax title license. We reconfirmed the price twice and made arrangements to handle the kids while we took care of the car. Once we arrived we were thrilled to find out that the price that was agreed on was completely incorrect and they were adding a bunch of dealer ads on which was going to push the price up about $2000. They seemed absolutely shocked and upset when we didn't move forward with the car. I was absolutely so annoyed to have wasted my time with this dealership and mess up our plans. I understand the car game and looking to make a profit but I do not agree at any point to having someone blatently lie to you. A company will never earn or keep my business that way and I have no intention of ever returning here. Their excuse was that on the website it says somewhere that there's dealer ads on every vehicle which is fantastic except we verbally called twice to verify the price. Worst car shopping experience I've ever experienced! We saw a vehicle that we absolutely loved and went down to test drive. Everything was great until the financing terms came into play. We just couldn't agree to a deal. So later that night the sales rep sent me another car that was right up our alley. So I set asides a few hours the next day to check into this vehicle and everything was great until we got to financing again. I was told before they run my credit (which I have excellent history and score) that the terms I was demanding would be met easily and nothing to worry about! I stressed that before they run my credit that were good to go again. The sales rep AND finance manager said nothing to worry about. So after credit was ran and it came back good as expected, the banks were not wanting to "play ball" with the finance manager. So the terms I was promised would not be able to be met. The sales rep then tried to convince me that either I go with a higher monthly payment or check into other vehicles that I was not interested. I was completely furious and disappointed in the whole process. My son went to buy a used vehicle from your used car dept., the advertised price online was $21500, when he got there they added over 20% to the price of the vehicle they said he had to pay to get the vehicle. Basically between the sales person and finance guy said it was normal and all the dealerships did it. SVC and Recon fee of $1699 and protection package of $2796.00. Which by the way he never received any documentation from finance person on actual coverage or policy number. I called and got nothing but rudeness from the sales manager at the time, tried to at the very least cancel the "protection package". The very same day and they refused to refund the money. I'm very happy with the work they did. When we went to pick the car up, Kevin went through everything thoroughly and patiently (we had questions... lots of questions... hahahaha, who doesn't?). Where do I even begin! We were out a family vehicle because of a storm back in June, so we were pressed to find a suitable replacement in a short timeframe. The pricing and "deals" listed online were NOT accurate at all, and we never received any of the perks that were listed on their website for making a purchase. THEN when we finally got to talk about pricing, the rep, Zach Poshard, told us that Keating installs their own version of low jack at the most premium price you can imagine. It is NOT negotiable despite the fact that the car we purchased already had tracking tech installed from Honda. They WILL NOT take this out nor take the price off. Due to the fact that this an urgent, short turnaround purchase, my father offered to help with the down payment on the car. When he told us this, I reached out to our sales rep to confirm if he could bring in a check... each time it was a YES and the ONLY requirement I was told was my father needing to show a valid ID, THAT IS IT. I confirmed this with our sales rep, Zach, 3 times to be sure before my Dad went there only to find out that they wanted to give him a credit check, which was NEVER disclosed to me any if the times I inquired about the requirements for this down payment from a third party. When my Dad got upset they required this, Zach and the Sales Director laughed in his face!!!! There was ZERO need for him to complete a credit check. Period. They could have taken his ID and waited for it to clear, but no. Since my father didn't want an establishment this shady to have access to his information in this manner, he opted to pay with a cashier's check which he would have done in the first place had they disclosed the need for a credit check. Had he known that it was going to be like this just to make this down payment, he would have had a check cut from the source right out of the gate but we were never given the correct information. Since this whole thing was so problematic, the sales director offered to pay him back for the cost of getting this cashiers check. Not only was my father disrespected, talked down to, LAUGHED AT, and treated like complete dirt, the sales director took it a step further and reimbursed the charge IN SMALL COIN CHANGE. To top it all off, since Keating had messed with the car and added that nonsense in they didn't close the panels properly. So literally the day we got the car we had to turn around and bring it back because A PANEL WAS FALLING OFF ON THE BOTTOM I OF THE CAR!!!!!!!!!! Keating is not interested in the safety of their customers, just their bottom line. There's no excuse for behavior of this nature. How on earth does a company like this allow their management and senior staff treat patrons in this manner??? We were overcharged, treated like garbage, and lied to, and NOTHING happened to anyone from Keating as a result of their negative and childish behavior. This is how they operate. What an absolute nightmare of a business. My husband called before boarding a plane on Monday morning to get confirmation a vehicle was still in stock. Jade told him it was at 8:30 AM on Monday. He flew to Houston ($194 ticket), got in a lyft ($44) and got there by noon on that same Monday to find out the vehicle was actually sold on Saturday. Jade only looked online and did not physically check their inventory. A $60 uber trip back to Hobby for the only available flight home that was also another $283. We lost a total of $581 in traveling fees and an entire day of work when we were ready and prepared to buy the vehicle in cash pending a single test drive. Sales guy at Keating was amazing, but don't have anything go wrong under warranty. My audio display started acting up. After multiple attempts to reach the service department, leaving multiple messages with no return calls, i decided to drive up in person. Was given the excuse that they were very busy and apologized for not calling back. No problem, i understand being busy, i too am busy. Was told to record the problem so they knew exactly what was happening. Got it after about 2 weeks because it's not easy to record and drive at the same time the errors usually occur while driving. Brought it back to show the video and was told they didn't need to see it they were aware of the problem because some others had the same issue. Still no problem, maybe some more came in after me with proof. Was told it would be 2 months to get the part, then 3, then 5, now it's been 6 months. I called today andtold the srvice guy i was really pissed off; that 6 months for warranty work is longer than it should be. Told him i really didnt feel like talking to him because i was mad and actually said a bad word about how ridiculus it was. The service guy said he understood my frustration,but there was nothing he could do. Probbaly so but he then proceeded to tell me i could call Honda USA, which i stated i already have spoken to them and they are worse than you guys. That pissed him off, and he abruptly disengaged from the call. Probably best for both of us. I get it he didnt like the truth but it doesn't change the truth, and im the customer without a solution. I drive clients in my car. Its embarrassing to have the radio change channels or the GPS to go on and off and lose connection and a few other items that dont work. How hard is it to expediate an audio display? 6 months, i think, is more than enough time. I took the advice of the dealership and am in a crappy situation because of it. To protect themselves, they advised me to make a financial decision I did not want to - with the assurance that I could easily modify the arrangement on my own post-sale. It turned out not to be easy. I needed help from the dealership to get to the payment plan I wanted, and should have had on day one. Instead of the help they assured me, I was ignored by everyone from my dealer to the GM - until I changed my Google review from 5 stars to 1. After asking them to make up for the undue mess I found myself in, the dealership's response was that "I'm upset about something they couldn't control and am asking them to fix something that is not their fault." I made a decision relying on their advice. When it turned out not to work for me, they said "we simply presented you with options" and "didn't force me to do anything." Perhaps that's true, but you should be aware of their refusal of accountability for their own advice. It may be blunt, but it's honest. They're more than happy to tell me what I should think and how I should feel now that they've sold me the car, and expect me to listen. But when they were doing the same thing during the sales process, it was my fault for listening. read more
