We were seated quickly and it wasn't too busy when we came in. The atmosphere was stylish and comfortable, with many arrangements of tables that gave a sense of privacy, with bamboo and clear plastic dividers. The service was attentive and good, our orders came out in a timely manner with everything correct. The food was delicious, I would definitely recommend the udon! The sushi rolls were also really good, with great portion size for the price. The crab rangoons were also tasty, and came with sweet and sour dipping sauce. On the other side of the restaurant, they had hibachi tables for chefs to cook at the table with fun fire displays. In the center was the sushi station, and you could see chefs assembling sushi there too. Overall, a great experience, and I wish I had known of it sooner! Will definitely go back.

Food is good but it's more of an experience than anything- more expensive than other area food options as everything seems extra ( fried rice +$3) but frankly cooking the food in front of everyone is some of the appeal so not getting fried rice would be really boring if sitting at a hibachi table

Came here for date night, food and service 10/10. I could literally eat here everyday! The food is SOoooo good! There isn't anything that I've tired here that I didn't like. I ordered the Japanese seaweed salad for my app. Entree was fried rice steak , lobster and shrimp. Their teriyaki chicken is also really good, definitely try it. I highly recommend this hibachi spot you will NOT be disappointed.

This was a great find in the Tiffany springs area! We had a few hours before our flight and wanted an excellent meal. We found it here with the hibachi grill. Food was cooked excellent and service was good. I recommend the filet cooked medium rare. It was amazing. Can't wait to go back!

I do like the food here, and the service is always friendly. I do wish they would do a better job of cleaning though. The floors are always sticky, the cocktail menu at our table was filthy. It would make the place so much better if they just gave it a good scrub!!!!

Veggies!!

Everything we had was great!! Can't wait to come back. Service was super fast, Chef was cheerful and skilled. Typical noise level for this type of restaurant. Family friendly, good prices, great value for amount of food.

We came here for a special occasion. Food had good flavor and everyone was very friendly. I made reservations and I'm glad that I did. I called back to try to adjust my reservation and the lady on the phone said they only had one cook for the evening, so my reservation would get pushed out quite a bit. We opted to keep the original reservation. My son had Mongolian last week at a different place which is also located north of the river. He said the other place had larger portions than this one. Food tasted about the same. I also felt like the portions were a little bit smaller, so that would be the only negative. The menu had dessert on it but when we were done, no one came around to ask if we wanted dessert. We did feel like we were rushed to get out. That might be because they were a little short staffed. Plenty of parking and easy to identify the restaurant from the street.

Fast service and good sushi for the price. We definitely think there's nicer sushi out there but for the price, this was pretty good! We liked both our rolls and the soup but I wouldn't recommend the smoked/or cooked salmon roll- can't remember the name of it.

Coming out of the wood works for this one....A passionate review for a WELL DESERVING spot: if…read moreyou've been considering popping in here, do it. The ambience: vibrant, artful murals sprawling the walls with homage paid to Kansas City. The space is clean and modern. Intimate seating. If you are wanting a spacious and slow experience, come in during the lunch hour. A special nod at whoever controls the playlist - there's some good music in here too! The drinks: there's such a good selection of sake, cocktails, AND beer. I've eaten at several Asian/Japanese restaurants: Kata Nori boasts a CURATED drink menu. The food: the hand rolls are the show stopper here, crudos come in close second. The hand rolls are FRESH and the fish here is so clean. Specialty fish flown in from Japan. My favorite thing about the food (which flows into my service bit) - is that you can really get some personalization done on your food. Special shout outs to Jacob, John, and Zach. But Zach, overall, was really incredible with his knowledge of the menu. He was the one making my hand rolls today and he gave very polite recommendations for plates and rolls. He was extremely knowledgeable about what was on the menu and ended up showing me something new (and probably my new favorite roll!) you can tell he's very passionate about his job and really takes pride in his work. Overall, the experience was 12/10. There's a few new "stand out" Japanese restaurants around, but it should be notably mentioned that Kata Nori was truly the first of its kind here. Come see what they're rollin' up over here!

Jazz club / Sushi bar combo - interesting concept!…read more We didn't fit the target demographic, but we're made to feel quite welcome by both staff and other guests - very nice! We chose hand rolls from the unique menus, and complied with our server's suggestion to munch while the nori was nice and crisp - a great suggestion. Texture was spot on, and taste, while a little out of the ordinary in our experience, was quite interesting. Music was a little loud, probably suited a little better for later in the evening when packed with more people. Prices were a little high, even by our Los Angeles-area standards, but probably appropriate for an "in" spot.

A sushi restaurant that has its own extensive vegan menu??…read more It sounds weird, but Blue Sushi does it and does it right! Sushi is more than the fish; it's the rice, it's the ingredients, and its the combination of flavor and texture wrapped up in a small bite-sized piece. I'm used to (and love) my avocado rolls, but it's nice to get some proper creative vegan rolls! Here, they have an extensive menu full of creative vegan rolls, some made with vegan proteins such as salmon and tuna! Even better, they do an incredible happy hour where many of the vegan rolls are included! I went here twice during my trip. I tried these rolls: Vegan Philadelphia: My favorite, as it is a simple roll I rarely get to enjoy as a vegan. Vegan cream cheese and vegan salmon put together to get that nostalgic creamy flavor. Vegan Kaluna Crunch: Delicious texture combining crunchy and smooth. Shiitake to me: Umami burst of flavor from the mushrooms Vegan Hot Pepper: My least favorite of the 4 I've tried, but still creative and has a spicy kick! I also had their miso soup and sake cocktails. I sat at the bar and had a great time. It was always busy, so I recommend reservations if you want a table!

2 spectacular sushi rolls. 2 crab Rangoon…read more 1 salad or soup choice. For $13. Okay, so it's the lunch special... ...but yeah, $13. And you can make book that you are going to enjoy any sushi roll you get. The portion sizes are very generous and you won't go away hungry, guaranteed. Veggie or seafood, spicy or savory, and just about anything in between is on the menu. My go-to is the Spicy Tuna Crunch roll or maybe the Spicy Crab Salad roll and either way I'm happy as can be. Throw in a couple of Rangoons, with the sweet sauce, as an appetizer and your lunch or dinner is very likely to be an absolute banger. Sushi UNI does a LOT of to-go orders, but if you're staying in, then just know that it can be a touch 'cozy' with seating. There is not a lot of wide walking space, but their sushi game brings in the crowds. You can expect a short wait at lunch, but there are great seats at the sushi bar if you're lucky to get one. But you aren't there for the dining space, you're there for the sushi - and it's FABULOUS. The parking lot is a crampy nightmare, and since there are other popular spots nearby, the lot always seems full. Pricing is fair lunch or dinner, but the value is WAY more than the price point. Service is quick & friendly & most of all, accurate (who wants eel if they ordered tuna?). Great space and outstanding eats!

Tucked away in Martini…read moreCorner, this Japanese-inspired restaurant makes you feel like you've stepped outside of KC entirely. The moody lighting, natural wood, and beautiful Japanese farmhouse aesthetic make the atmosphere just as memorable as the food! My absolute favorite dish is the dry-aged salmon nigiri, but their menu also features creative pasta dishes, steaks, seafood, and more. The menu changes seasonally, so there's always something new to try! Here's a cool fact: Nōka means "farmer" in Japanese, and chef-owner Amante Domingo created the restaurant as a tribute to his late father, who operated an organic farm in Missouri. Some of the wood throughout the restaurant even came from the family farm! Whether you're planning a romantic date night or celebrating something special, Nōka is worth experiencing for the ambiance alone!

We were excited to try the new sushi and seafood options from the menu, as well as retrying some of our old favorites. When we walked in, we noticed there are a lot more tables, making the space a bit louder than our precious visits. That's great, though, that the place is packed! We also were a bit disappointed with the flavors of the food and drinks. Our first visit was amazing a few years ago, and this visit, even the things we remembered loving were a bit worse. The sushi and sashimi were okay, but also seemed less flavorful than expected. While we were excited to come back, the visit left us thinking that Noka may not be on our places to visit for a bit.
