I had been wanting to try KC Doner for awhile. I once had a Doner sandwich at a festival but due to being in a festival state of mind, I didn't really know what it was and couldn't really remember if I liked it. Plus, it was dark so I couldn't see it. A new experience with the Doner needed to be had. They are located right inside of the Lenexa Food Hall. You order via kiosk and they text you when it's ready. My order was out super fast and it was accurate. I ordered the KC Döner Style Wrap: a blend of beef & lamb, tomatoes, lettuce, onions, sumac, and parsley, all wrapped in a tortilla and finished with house-made garlic yogurt sauce inside. OMG! It blew my expectations out of the water. I could've eaten 20 of these. It was so good. The meat was tender and flavorful. The tortilla was light but held everything together perfectly. And the garlic sauce was delicious. Highly recommend! I also added on 3 dolmas: grape leaves stuffed with rice. They were tasty but the wrap was above and beyond my favorite. Lenexa Public Market is a great place to find unique food, and one of the options in there is KC Döner, a family-ran Turkish restaurant. Start your meal with döner - the German-style döner and the house-made garlic yogurt sauce are so good. Then, if you have room for dessert, get the cream-filled pistachio baklava - I find that the cream subtly enhances the baklava. Finally, end your meal with a cup of Turkish coffee - the way the coffee is made by being heated over hot sand plus its strong and fragrant aroma make it so special. The food is delicious, the prices are reasonable, and the family that runs KC Döner is so nice. I will definitely be back. read more

While at the public market, I stopped by KC Doner for a traditional Turkish coffee. The man working was so kind and chatted with my friend and I while we waited about traditional coffee, how to enjoy it, and how it's prepared. An incredible service experience, and I enjoyed the chat! The Turkish coffee itself was a unique and enjoyable way to caffeinate - the coffee isn't filtered, so naturally it's strong, similar to an espresso shot. With a little sugar, it was a nice way to caffeinate while sitting around the fire pit outside. The rest of the menu also looks incredible, and I will be back to try more soon! read more

I love this place! My first experience was a Yelp Elite Squad treat a while back when they were still upstairs in the Lenexa Public Market. Now KC Döner is on the ground floor right when you walk in the south doors. The food here is great! Today I had a traditional Döner with extra meat and they were kind enough to give me some garlic sauce as well. That sauce is outstanding. Service was fast and efficient, and I was in and out of the place in 15 - 20 minutes. My only complaint was that the Döner was not hot. It was just above lukewarm. Warm enough that I didn't take it back but cool enough that I didn't really enjoy it as much as the last time I was there. I will certainly give them another chance as their food is very traditional, creative and delicious! read more

Came back a few times since I wrote this past review, because... well... read the review. This most recent time, we got our normal order of Döner, cheese rolls (which are frickin dangerous because I'd eat 1000 in a sitting), and the baklava, but we also tried the rice- the chicken bulgur pilaf. It tasted like Christmas to my wife and I, and that's a good thing. The spices were delicious and warming- exactly what I'd want in something like a Chai, but I could EAT them, not just taste and swallow, which is sometimes a sad bit of an absolutely delicious drink- the chewing and savoring is missing with a drink. It's not missing here. Really great, and would recommend highly. Was it more food than we needed? Yes. But we only do that once a week, so no sorry here. So, again, I recommend. Highly. And yes, it's worth walking from the parking garage for a take out. Just be sure to specify sauce on the side, so stuff doesn't get soggy. read more

I ordered takeout hoping for authentic Turkish döner, but unfortunately it didn't feel that way. The lavash bread was really good and definitely deserved better quality meat. The döner itself was cold, and overall the experience was pretty standard -- nothing special. Honestly, it was a bit of a disappointment. read more

To get it out of the way, ambience is about what you expect for Lenexa Public Market. Pretty quiet when we arrived on Wednesday night. The woman working spoke almost no English so we put in our orders on the iPad. We only waited maybe 5-10 minutes for a food. My dad got the döner plate, my mom got the German style döner, they both got lentil soups, and they'd also picked up dolmas and baklava to split. I got the Mediterranean döner wrap. Wow. Absolutely delicious. I could eat that every day. It was also a perfect size and extremely easy to eat which I appreciate. Delicious savoriness very much like a gyro in flavor but wrapped in a tasty tortilla, if you're familiar with that. My parents both enjoyed their food, though my mom found her German style doner to be a little over, stuffed with vegetables, and it took her a while to get to the meat of the pita. I really like the dolmas. I'm used to the ones that are more common around here that are almost the size of eggrolls, where these were almost cigarette-thin and I thought the mouthfeel because of the shape was actually much preferred. The baklava was not my most favorite. I thought it tasted good, but the addition of the ricotta that tasted very earthy, made it up a little bit funkier than what I expected or prefer. But I can't really knock any of the food that I had tonight. Everything was delicious, even things that weren't my favorite, like the baklava, I can't knock off a point because it's more it wasn't what I expected but that doesn't mean it wasn't delicious. The food and service was great. I took my Turkish-German raised in Stuttgart brother-in-law. He approved. He spent a few minutes speaking with the owners/servers in Turkish. Which proved the authenticity to me. I've had Döner Kabobs in Germany and this food was right up there with theirs. So, go! Try it! You'll like it! read more

I really love Turkish food and I feel like there's nothing authentic in KC, but this really was it! I would love for them to expand to a more permanent location and explore a larger menu. I love having an authentic Turkish restaurant that is able to pop up in multiple places like breweries and the Lenexa public market. The food is exceptional and you can tell it's made with a lot of care. Their menu has a decent variety of items that all taste exceptional. Really delicious and strong flavors. I very much enjoyed my Doner Wrap. It was filling and tasty. Very unique combo of spices that I had not experienced much before this. I also had the pide and potato pie vegetarian pies. I especially liked the potato pie one. Wish I had been able to try the Meat Pie as well but they were sold out by the time we went at 6 pm. Loved the food here! I had iskender and my husband had a döner wrap. Both were really good. We also had the kısır (a type of cous cous salad) and it was flavorful. We also had a semolina cookie for dessert which was delicious! The prices are good, the food was prepared quickly, and the staff are super warm and friendly. The ambience was fine as well.
