Charming space and concept overall. I enjoyed the experience, but personally don't think I'd return. However I see why it was busy on a Tuesday. The vibe is great and I just love open fire cooking. . My favorite parts were the starters, the feta, hummus, etc. and the chicken kebab. I wish I could recreate the chicken kebob and buy the feta and hummus at the grocery store. The short rib was tough and dry, and the polenta wasn't great. Maybe I got a bad version but I wouldn't recommend it at all. Solid 4 stars.

Can't recommend this place enough! We tried one item from each category and shared. Our favorite was the grandmas pizza and dip trio. Everything was fresh and delicious. The patio was a little bit loud but we still enjoyed our time.

Being Persian, I was beyond excited to find a restaurant featuring Persian cuisine. I wanted to love this and was so disappointed. The restaurant features foods from the Near East, which was defined by our server as Iran, Iraq, Turkey, Afghanistan, and India. Anyone from the Middle East would've been appalled at the gummy, cold rice served; my Grandmother would have sent it back. I ordered Iranian specialty Kabob Kubideh and it was ok. The jujeh (chicken brochettes) had no lemon or saffron flavors. I asked for sumac for my kubideh and it was bitter and stale, not tart as it should have been to compliment the meat. The place was cute and cozy and the staff was very friendly. However, the food should've been the shining star and it just disappointed.

Roasted vegetables and kachipuri.

This is a very special dining experience in Kansas City. The flavors were,... spectacular. The home-cooked feeling felt like sitting down with family. The freshness of the components, the palette of flavors was stunning. Highly recommend, will be sad when it will get hard to get a table at this place... absolutely loved it!

"C" IS FOR CLAY AND FIRE. There's something about @clayandfirekc that surpasses just "going to dinner". It was a lovely afternoon outside on an actual front porch with birds singing and flowers blooming. The warmth from the sun and the breeze making your drink that much more refreshing--the food even more tasty. For an appetizer we shared the most delicious hummus that was paired with the best scooping utensil a girl could ask for: bread (flatbread). We also got an order of the grilled halloumi (grilled cheese!) absolutely amazing yummy goodness. My main course was the Kharcho. The short rib and polenta had so much zingy flavor and was comforted the soul. There's definitely a reason this restaurant books out weeks in advance. They don't cut corners and it's obvious they love what they do. The food is made exactly how it should be (y'all know I don't just say that either lol). If I have anything negative to say at all is that it's pretty expensive for what it is. With that said, this restaurant and food "genera"is unique to the KC area. There's not a lot of Mid East restaurants that are sourcing locally and putting out such an amazing product. Because of that this is a must go-to. You won't be disappointed!

I have so many pictures from this place and have had yet to review it, which is a shame because it's one of my favorite places in the city! I love how cute and intimate it is here. My husband and I love sitting on the patio in the warmer months - and were recently seated in the enclosed patio! The Grandma Pizza is one of the absolute best pizzas in the city!! Hannah has kindly served us multiple times and been great at recommending drinks - which are also some of the best in the city!

Great food & vibe!! Get the dip board I highly recommend it!! Also our waiter was so nice

Updating to 5 stars after multiple consistently stellar visits. The food is just THAT good. Two words: GRANDMAS PIZZA

Loved this place!!! Went for dinner & sat on the patio and it was a perfect summer night. The restaurant is in an old house/neighborhood, which really adds to the cozy vibe. The girite ezme (feta dip) & Grandma's Pizza were my favorite things we ordered! The heirloom tomatoes in the caprese salad were super fresh & tasty. I wish the pita bread was a little bit thicker/fluffier, but that was my only semi-negative. Will definitely be back!

Came for my daughters birthday and it was my first visit. The place is very cute but soooo many steps and very steep. I don't think I could take my mom here! The service was amazing. Adam was seriously a great server and so friendly. I didn't know exactly what to expect for the food but it was all delicious. Did the mezza assortment, the og pizza and short ribs. It was all very good.

The food was wonderful. Definitely will come back. The owner was a sweetheart. Talked about back home Afghanistan and Iran. He's so funny.

My wife and I love this place I really hoping it doesn't become to popular because we enjoy sitting outside and they only do reservations inside.

Sublime!!! I had been wanting to try CF for over a year. Every time I look for a nearby restaurant from our worship center, it pulls CF up. It WS in fact very close and we've now found a great Sunday lunch spot. The house is super charming, that the restaurant is in. I wouldn't suggest this if you need wheelchair access or can't do steep stairs, thus won't be an option. Leg day was the day before we went and I had went heavy, unknowingly, IYKYK. We started out with the guajillio hummus and a Greek salad with two of the best crafted cocktail we had the pleasure of consuming in a fat minute; dirty martini and the nagsigi, someone needs to hook me up to an iv of this stat! It was a complex yet harmonious blend of liqueur and spices that heightened the senses in anticipation of the food to come. I'm not an alcohol drinker but this cocktail was worth the sugar and calories! Our entrees were the three kabobs and the short ribs on garlic polenta. Both were filled with the aroma of the smoke, which everything I cooked over, and it was superb. My husband had traveled extensively and lived all over the Middle East, SE Asia and Africa and the flavors and style were on point for those regions. As well this restaurant is adorable, warm and will kindle emotions of being at your grandparents back home. This is worth the hype!

One of my favorite meals I've had in KC. Short ribs and hummus were perfect! I will go out of my way to return.

Plus, it was dark so I couldn't see it. A new experience with the Doner needed to be had. They are located right inside of the Lenexa Food Hall. You order via kiosk and they text you when it's ready. My order was out super fast and it was accurate. I ordered the KC Döner Style Wrap: a blend of beef & lamb, tomatoes, lettuce, onions, sumac, and parsley, all wrapped in a tortilla and finished with house-made garlic yogurt sauce inside. OMG! It blew my expectations out of the water. I could've eaten 20 of these. It was so good. The meat was tender and flavorful. The tortilla was light but held everything together perfectly. And the garlic sauce was delicious. Highly recommend! I also added on 3 dolmas: grape leaves stuffed with rice. They were tasty but the wrap was above and beyond my favorite. I'll definitely return!

Start your meal with döner - the German-style döner and the house-made garlic yogurt sauce are so good. Then, if you have room for dessert, get the cream-filled pistachio baklava - I find that the cream subtly enhances the baklava. Finally, end your meal with a cup of Turkish coffee - the way the coffee is made by being heated over hot sand plus its strong and fragrant aroma make it so special. The food is delicious, the prices are reasonable, and the family that runs KC Döner is so nice. I will definitely be back.

Their hummus is a dream, and my Sumac chicken was yummy, but the biggest hit for me was the side salad, perfectly fresh and crisp lettuces and veg and loved the dressing! We had an engagement right down the street so this was the perfect time. We had the grape leaves, hummus, tabouli and kifta plate. It was all great! We both agreed the hummus is among the best we've ever had. We prefer it to be tahini heavy (rather than garlic or spices) and this one is. It's creamy and perfect. Beautifully presented! The tabouli was HUGE! I wish they had a half portion. It was too much for 2 of us. But absolutely delicious! The grape leaves were good, but nothing special. The kifta plate was excellent!! Wonderful ground beef mixture and just what one expects with this classic dish. Steamed vegetables and rice with a mousses on top were a perfect complement to the beef. Service was quick and efficient. Glad we went early as the neighborhood gem fills up quickly on a Friday night. 5 stars. We will return and try more of the extensive menu.
