    Mediterranean Doner

Insanely affordable and flavorful lunch option in Lenexa public market. It is a filling sandwich that resembles a gyro but is in fact different. The difference, to me at least, comes in the fact that is holds together much better because the bread isn't pita and instead is thinner and more resembles a wrap (or tortilla). I added the feta for a dollar, I'm not sure it needed it however, it made it so salty and delicious that I think I would add it again. There were two options and I went with the Middle Eastern variety that included a creamy garlic sauce. It indeed was a saucy sandwich? Not sure if it's considered a sandwich or wrap but let's just call it a döner haha. The other version was a Turkish version and included tomatoes which this one didn't...maybe I'll try this one next time. With a price under $12 this was a steal in my book. I loved the soft texture of the lamb/beef mix of meat as well as the pliable slightly chewy wrap, it didn't have any crunch factor but that was okay because it was so easy to eat that I finished the whole thing in less than 10 minutes. I would definitely consider this a contender for one of my favorite lunches I've had in the past month. Highly delicious and addictive.

I love this place! My first experience was a Yelp Elite Squad treat a while back when they were still upstairs in the Lenexa Public Market. Now KC Döner is on the ground floor right when you walk in the south doors. The food here is great! Today I had a traditional Döner with extra meat and they were kind enough to give me some garlic sauce as well. That sauce is outstanding. Service was fast and efficient, and I was in and out of the place in 15 - 20 minutes. My only complaint was that the Döner was not hot. It was just above lukewarm. Warm enough that I didn't take it back but cool enough that I didn't really enjoy it as much as the last time I was there. I will certainly give them another chance as their food is very traditional, creative and delicious!

I ordered takeout hoping for authentic Turkish döner, but unfortunately it didn't feel that way. The lavash bread was really good and definitely deserved better quality meat. The döner itself was cold, and overall the experience was pretty standard -- nothing special. Honestly, it was a bit of a disappointment.

To get it out of the way, ambience is about what you expect for Lenexa Public Market. Pretty quiet when we arrived on Wednesday night. The woman working spoke almost no English so we put in our orders on the iPad. We only waited maybe 5-10 minutes for a food. My dad got the döner plate, my mom got the German style döner, they both got lentil soups, and they'd also picked up dolmas and baklava to split. I got the Mediterranean döner wrap. Wow. Absolutely delicious. I could eat that every day. It was also a perfect size and extremely easy to eat which I appreciate. Delicious savoriness very much like a gyro in flavor but wrapped in a tasty tortilla, if you're familiar with that. My parents both enjoyed their food, though my mom found her German style doner to be a little over, stuffed with vegetables, and it took her a while to get to the meat of the pita. I really like the dolmas. I'm used to the ones that are more common around here that are almost the size of eggrolls, where these were almost cigarette-thin and I thought the mouthfeel because of the shape was actually much preferred. The baklava was not my most favorite. I thought it tasted good, but the addition of the ricotta that tasted very earthy, made it up a little bit funkier than what I expected or prefer. But I can't really knock any of the food that I had tonight. Everything was delicious, even things that weren't my favorite, like the baklava, I can't knock off a point because it's more it wasn't what I expected but that doesn't mean it wasn't delicious. Would happily go back again.

Really delicious and strong flavors. I very much enjoyed my Doner Wrap. It was filling and tasty. Very unique combo of spices that I had not experienced much before this. I also had the pide and potato pie vegetarian pies. I especially liked the potato pie one. Wish I had been able to try the Meat Pie as well but they were sold out by the time we went at 6 pm. Would definitely love to enjoy this meal again and try another popup! Service was good, I was able to pay with Tap to Pay credit card and get a receipt to my email.

Amazing Food! we got the Doner Wraps and we got the most delicious wraps we have ever had! had to order one more for to-go! I got the semolina cookies for sweet treat and these are super good. The service was amazing, neither of us are too familiar with Turkish foods but the owners explained everything for us and was so friendly! 10/10! definitely coming back and can't wait to try the whole menu

My little one happily chowing down on the red lentil ball.

I took my kiddos out to try KC Doner today. We got one of everything! It all was great! The meat way perfectly cooked! I had to go back for more so I could share some with my husband. The owner is very nice and friendly. We also got food from other vendors there but, KC Doner is definitely the winner for us.

The server was knowledgeable about which dishes to try and they recommended the beet pkhali dip so I had to give that a try. That Georgian beet dip was super good that I would order seconds. The classic hummus dip with flatbread was yummy too. The kebab platter with jujeh kabob, koobideh kabob, and adana kabob was the star of the show since all kebabs were flavorful and tender. The Persian butter rice was fire and one of the best rice dishes I've ever eaten to the point that I would eat it every day for the rest of my life. The only downsides are that it's not open during lunch and it's expensive but it's worth it. Overall, I would definitely return to this restaurant whenever I'm back in KC and I would recommend this restaurant to anyone visiting KC. I'll definitely be coming back to eat there in person and enjoy everything fresh.

Basha Bash: I really wanted to love this spot. Based on the…read morestellar reviews, I was excited for a hidden Greek gem in the heart of OP, but unfortunately, our experience was far from an "Opa!" moment. The Service I arrived first and the place was nearly empty, yet the energy felt frantic. The server/ hostess was very rushed and business-like but seemed overwhelmed, running around like a chicken with her head cut off. After declining a black tea multiple times (once they realized they were out of chai), We had to practically stop her in mid-step for every follow-up once the rest of my party arrived. She never stopped on her own to ask us if we needed anything or if we were enjoying our meal. The Food The meal was a series of "weird" choices: The Hummus Situation: Our entrees were supposed to come with hummus, Rice and a side salad. Instead of serving The hummus with the entree, it was plopped onto the side salad plate before the entree arrived. I've eaten a lot of Mediterranean food, and I've never seen it served that way. The Garlic Sauce: This was a huge letdown. It looked and tasted like straight mayonnaise with a hint of garlic powder--not the authentic, pungent toum or A fresh bright white garlic sauce you'd expect. The tzatziki sauce might have been the best thing on the plate as it tasted fresh and authentic. The Meat: This was a Jekyll and Hyde as some of the meat was tender but some was overcooked and it was like that for everybody's meal whether they got beef, lamb or chicken. The Rice: Every entree was served over saffron rice that was dry, almost like it had been sitting out sunbathing for the day. The Falafel: Good crunch, but the inside was on the dry side. The Vibe As someone with a background in the industry, one thing really stood out: while our server was struggling to keep up with the only two tables in the restaurant, a cook with an apron was sitting in the lobby looking bored and disinterested. It's never a good look for staff to be lounging in front of customers regardless of how busy the restaurant is. Final Verdict Maybe it was just an off night, but for the price point, it doesn't compete. When you compare the quality and value to places like Meddys, Darna, or Mr. Gyros, this was extremely subpar. Sadly, I won't be rushing back.

He checked on us consistently without ever being intrusive and genuinely made us feel welcome. He wasn't just selling food; he was representing the restaurant and the overall dining experience, and he did so exceptionally well. The restaurant itself strikes a wonderful balance between sophisticated and approachable. It feels upscale without being pretentious. I appreciated the attention to detail throughout the space, including the beautiful brass accents above the bar. Service was prompt and courteous, but the food was very disappointing. We were served a cucumber salad that oddly tasted like peanuts, followed by six completely flavorless meatballs--no seasoning at all, not even salt. The contrast between the main dining room and the "other room" also felt stark and uncomfortable, as if it were a second-tier seating area.
