We weren't happy with that practice for many reasons, and Altman Dental was recommended to us by many families that we are friends with. He sees me and my husband and even my 9 year old! He LOVES Dr. Altman ( even more than his Pediatrician which says a lot!). I just came here to say that I always have a great experience with the front desk ladies, while I'm in the chair Dr. Altman is conversational and is humorous and informative and explains what's happening as he's doing it. Today the first step of my implant has started and I needed this tooth pulled. It was a great experience! I don't doubt that he will check on me later. If you are looking for a new practice, I highly recommend!!! I have even seen Dr. Gellert and he's wonderful too. So glad we switched years ago. First appointment was just an initial check-up and cleaning. The staff are all very friendly and the atmosphere is very relaxed. I was a bit nervous about my next appointment though, where the doc would get rid of that decay and fill it over. Never had a cavity in my life, now I'm 43 and it's all coming apart!! I went in for the fillings and wow, let me tell you - #1, I didn't even feel pain from the lidocaine injections given to numb you all up for the actual procedure. Just a bit of pressure. #2, I felt absolutely nothing during the actual removal work. And no, half my face wasn't out of commission nor did I drool or speak very incoherently lol. I do not have insurance, so I was pleasantly surprised by their prices. 10/10 will return as long as I live in this area!! NOT RELATED TO THE PLACE OF BUSINESS, JUST AN OBSERVATION FOR PEOPLE WITH NERVOUS HABITS---- However, I will warn any people with nervous habits that involve chewing or biting on your lips: the total numbness is going to cause you blisters the next day. I noticed myself doing it soon after the appointment and thought "OKAY you're going to have to stop doing that..." but alas, by the next day I had a weird looking sore on my lip where I bite it, pretty subconsciously, until now. Luckily that healed quick. But that's my own damn fault.

Dr. Laura Barres is truly the best and she has such a friendly and outgoing personality. On top of that she makes any procedure better and gets you in and out very quickly (plus they have TVs for you to watch). Jennifer does my cleanings and she is equally as friendly and amazing. The entire staff is so nice, it really is an awesome environment and I look forward to it now! They even have a new addition - Ralph, a mini golden doodle who is being trained to be a therapy dog to help patients to calm them and lay on their laps during cleanings and procedures! I was a patient of Wood Dental for 3.5 years before I moved out of the Buffalo area. From the very…read morebeginning, I was always extremely satisfied with the service and care I received. I needed deep cleanings and gum care when I first arrived; they put me on a plan where I came in four times a year for cleanings rather than just twice a year, to ensure that I received the best care possible. I had other services done, like removing/replacing mercury fillings and fixing old fillings that had cracked. I was always happy with the work done. I even received a call one night after-hours from Dr. Wood when he could tell I'd had a particularly rough time during a procedure, just to make sure I was feeling okay. I was always impressed with the technology in the office; it seemed like every time I went in I noticed something they'd added or something that I'd never seen before in previous dentists' offices. My hygienist, Amanda H, is also highly recommended. In addition to being extremely professional and competent, she would remember things about my life and ask me about them during my visits. She swore she never took notes, she just remembered! And this wasn't just because I was coming in four times a year so I was a more recognizable face; my husband only went in twice a year and she'd remember personal details about his life, too. My only "complaint" is that the patient chair in Dr. Wood's procedure room is MUCH more plush and comfortable than the normal chairs in the hygienists' cleaning rooms. Imagine the increased teeth-cleaning experience if those were located in every room!
