The vibe is similar to the OG bakery in Coon Rapids. Very clean, simply decor that makes you feel welcome. We caught the place during a quiet lull so we have fast customer service. I picked out a 5- piece box of macarons. You pick the flavors to fill the box. Plenty of options to choose from. I loved the color coordination on the display case. I also picked out an oreo cupcake and oatmeal cheesecake cup. I haven't met a dessert by Maddie Lu that I haven't liked. Can't wait to try the macarons! Happy to have you in the area.

I bought five macarons for $12 and a raspberry cheesecake cookie. You can also buy the macarons individually for $2.50 or 10 macarons for $24. They also have cupcakes too. They can also be found on DoorDash, but you can't select your flavors, though I suppose you could put it in the special instruction, so I decided to just stop by the store. When I first arrived, I was greeted and serviced immediately. The staff member was patient as I took a moment to decide which flavors. I also noticed they have some unique design macarons that look like a shark but in a vanilla flavor. The store is clean and has simple decor. It looks like they have a backdrop for a photo op. I felt very welcome in the store. I used to do subscription macarons, but it became pricey. I much prefer Macarons by Maddie Lu due to the flavor options, being able to obtain them locally, and I can choose the amount of macarons to have. They are very delicious, smell good, and have a nice crunch when you bite them. The raspberry cheesecake cookie was soft even after refrigeration for a few hours - I split and shared the cookie with my husband and it cut easily even after being in the fridge.

The demo was very helpful before we broke in to groups and tried it out for ourselves. Due to this class' popularity - the group sizes were a bit larger (we had 5). Although we all found tasks to divvy up, we did feel bad that most didn't get to really try out all the steps of making this high-maintenance cookie to really get hands-on experience. Becki, our instructor & AK owner, was very interactive and helpful throughout the whole class. She provided good tips and tricks & created a fun environment, encouraging & fostering great group interaction. During the baking time we took a brief "shopping break" to explore the store. Becki has so many practical, high-quality cooking items it is a great store. You could find absolutely anything you could possibly need in your kitchen! Back to class, Becki had prepped the buttercream for us to fill the cookies. She went over different combinations we could try with jelly fillings & then we got to try our hand at filling. We only wished we had remembered to ask a few questions about making the buttercream, since we didn't get to mix this up during the baking phase & gain hands-on experience. We are always so impressed with the variety of classes Becki offers, her passion for cooking, & we loved the great environment she fostered during the class. The members of the class were from all over the metro, proving it really is worth "the drive" to Buffalo if this is not a close location for you. AK's Facebook page and website are updated frequently to keep you in-the-know on all upcoming events. Time flies by during class! But you leave with a good experience, tactical skills, a recipe card, and for this class we each took home ~10 macarons. Bon appetit!

I attended a demo course which was advertised as such (although we were promised that "every student will get a chance to volunteer in front of the class for a portion of the recipe," which--maybe thankfully if you've tried my cooking--didn't really happen), and while I had a decent enough time, there were moments that felt off. At one point, I asked if I could take an extra baked good for a friend who wasn't able to join me, and I was chastised harshly, like I was a naughty child. Okay, no worries, but really? Was there no other way that could have been expressed? "Sorry, we sell the extras" or "we like to donate the leftovers to the poor." Nope, it was "you may have ONE!" Wow. So much for abundance? Still, kinks aside, I suspect this will be nice addition to a small downtown that seems to be attempting to revitalize itself. (Although I fear that, in expressing my opinion, I will once again incur wrath.)

There is a small parking lot on the side of the building and they had a cute sign out front. They are located on a somewhat busy street, so this could make or break some of their business. Ambiance: Inside was huge! This would be a great place to meet with a small group as they have different areas inside to sit and converse. It wasn't very busy when we were there but it was around 1 on a Tuesday. They have a bakery, ice cream counter and boba. They had a bakery case that looked really tasty, so we decided to get 3 items to share. - Lemon macaron - perfection and had a gooey chewiness. We could eat a ton of these. - Eclair - I don't think I've ever had an eclair and now I am questioning why! It was chilled and the perfect amount of filling to outside pastry. The chocolate falls off when you bite it, so eat over a napkin to not lose any pieces. - Chocolate croissant or pastry. I think it was Nutella and it was incredible! Flakey, gooey and everything you'd want it to be. I'm sure you could warm it up and it would elevate it further. Yum! We both got a fruit tea and it was a lot. Sadly, I wouldn't get again as it was too sweet and my boba tasted like ramen noodles. (It actually made me hungry for ramen). My teen got the strawberry milk tea and even said it was sickly sweet and she needed the ice to sit. Overall, I didn't love the boba... but I would recommend the pastry! They also had some decadent looking muffins and cake slices. If in the neighborhood, stop in! I think they should make a Macaron ice cream sandwich! The woman that helped us was so sweet and patient while we took forever to decide what we wanted.
