When I saw Kurb Side's adorable old fashioned/retro truck parked near Tin Fish, I had to restrain…read moremyself from screaming and jumping for joy. You're telling me that I can get a Sno Ball, like I'm used to getting only in the South, at Lake Calhoun?! Remember on Saved By the Bell when Jessie took speed and was in an aerobic video and said manically over and over, "I'm so excited!" That was me minus the drugs and the spandex. Okay, giddiness aside if I must, here's what you need to know: *two sizes, served in take-out containers. Small (think a side of rice) - $3, large (think what your last order of Kung Pao chicken came in) - $5 *a TON of flavors including Georgia peach, wedding cake, tiger's blood (yes, you read that correctly), blue bubble gum, dreamsicle *additional flavors or sweet cream will run you an additional $.50 each *they have sugarfree options, which I forgot to explore since I was just too excited, a la Jessie Spano I ordered the small king cake as this is a New Orleans-style sno ball truck, after all. It was a perfect purple sno ball with unidentifiable sweetness. I don't know what king cake is supposed to taste like, but I do know that there wasn't a tiny baby in my sno ball like there are in traditional king cakes. That would have been super creepy. It's finally (maybe, hopefully, finger-crossed) summer in Minneapolis and this should be at the tip-top of everyone's bucket list for the foreseeable future.

They reached out to confirm the event multiple times, and were a giant hit with our guests. Their old-fashioned truck is adorable, and their sno balls quite literally had people coming back for more. I wouldn't hesitate to hire them again for a future event!

Duck sucks! Hubbie and I went here for a date. I arrived excited and happy, and I left grumpy and…read moresad. I'm by no means a claw machine expert, but I'm not bad at it either. I've won plenty of plush prizes out of claw machines I've come across in arcades, diners, and even grocery stores in the past. But here? Impossible. The claws on the machines are just awful; the tines just slide past the fabric on the plushies. You can line it up, perfectly centered around the plush, and it just slides around the plush every time. Doesn't even pick it up for half a second, so there's no suspense, no "ooh I might have it this time!" Just try after try of not even moving the plush. This is not fun. Arguably claw machines can be fun those times when you've got a tenuous grip on a plush and it slips at the last moment and you're like "arggh!" but you try again and get it and really celebrate cuz it feels like an accomplishment you overcame the difficulty. But you won't get that experience here, because the claw will never grab the plushie. In fact, the only reason I left with a single plushie is because some employee saw how disappointed I was becoming and he opened the machine to position a plush such that it was practically falling into the chute just from gravity. Only then was I able to get the plush, and not from the claw grabbing at all, just from the plush teetering slightly in my attempt and falling into the chute. Let me tell you: this is NOT FUN either to have an employee cheat the game in order for you to actually "win." I made the mistake of getting $20 worth of tokens (38 total) instead of $10 worth (18 total). I thought that a place that's a dedicated claw machine park would have prizes you could actually win, since that's literally the only thing to do here. The worst part is that the plushies are positioned in VERY grabble positions, with proper sizing ratio of plush to size of claw (again, I'm not an expert, but I do know what to look out for in terms of what should be winnable). Like they've gone to the effort to make each LOOK easy, and would be easy in a functioning claw machine. My 38 tokens got me twelve attempts, and all of them were utterly useless because of the poor quality of the claw grabber. Now I know why it was super dead in here; they've probably upset their entire customer base. That's also probably why they put a new location at Mall of America just last month, to try and sucker new people who haven't been to this one and don't know how bad duck sucks yet. There's the option to buy outright prizes on the wall. So if you want to do that, you can, but you might as well go to an anime store to do that rather than give these con artists any of your money. The only thing this place is good for is some selfies and stuff for Instagram, because it is fun looking. (But not actually fun, just fun LOOKING.) At least the bathroom was clean. You'd have more fun flushing your dollar bills down the literal toilet.

I used to like this place since they would help fluff the plushies. Those days are gone and they…read morewill not stack near the prize chute. When my sister-in-law visited last year, we had better luck with owners making it easy for my son. This month, it is very obvious the claw machines are programmed to grab after payout but release before reaching prize chute. Without filling at the level of prize chute, you are guaranteed to lose since they will roll back down away prize chute. Only plus is their boba tea and shave ice. Only come at promotion days when you get free tokens. Birthday you get free 18 tokens and large boba drink when you purchase anything. Mall of America location is worse with points (out to 1 decimal) instead of tokens which varies too much based on prize. Only added bonus is gatcha machines have nicer toys. Also different games but more points. Birthday gets you bonus with $28 worth of tokens and free large boba tea. They clarify that you still have to purchase minimum tokens for $18 so strings attached.
