Food was good, authentic and hot. Our party ordered steak fajitas, beef enchiladas and kids corn dogs and fries. The rice was tasty, but I always add salsa to make it taste better. Excellent service, good prices, healthy portions of food. Fajitas were good and well seasoned but could have done for a bit more spice, and I would have loved a dollop of guacamole to go with the fajitas but otherwise tender and good. Michelada was tasty. House Margarita was bit weak but tasty. The standout was the free salsa which was very flavorful and had some spice above the Minnesota average (which we enjoyed). We entered and we're seated at a two top with a small table. We were greeted and asked what we wanted to drink. We got our drinks and ordered our food. Then waited 15 minutes with empty beverages. It's a smaller place with only a few staff members. Asked for more chips with our cheese dip twice and didn't get them. Food was good. Service was lacking. read more

This place never disappoints. This is not what you'd expect from a Mexican restaurant in a small town in the Midwest. They have molcajate, elote, horchata and much, much more! They have all of the regular Mexican fare with the addition of many seafood options. The onions and bell peppers are always cooked to perfection. Meat is always done well with tons of flavor- never dry. There is something for everyone here. One appetizer that our kids love (not seemingly very mexican) is the Isabella Fries- battered French fries with bacon (actual bacon, not bacon bits) and queso. I've been driving by and looking for a while. I've lived in Texas, Oklahoma, Central and southern California and in my 50's, I think I have a decent idea of what decent Mexican food is. This is not. At 7:00pm it looked closed but when we got to the door we saw other patrons seated and eating, so we went in. Stereotypical atmosphere with a large bar as the central focus of the establishment. Took a few minutes for anyone to appear and seats. Dirty menus. Salsa dried on the wall, sugar packet caddy and packets, salt shaker and a fine outline of ick around the tray it all was on. They seemed put out that I asked for them to please wipe the table down and replace the items that had obviously been neglected for some time. We made our choices and placed our order. Salsa arrived and the flavor was like Hunts canned spaghetti sauce with cilantro and WAY TOO MUCH CUMIN added. It tasted like what I imagine a wet dog covered in dollar store spaghetti sauce would. They brought out the queso dip and it was a lump of cheese, somewhat melted, swimming in butter flavored oil that had been poorly and necessarily combined. The chips were warm but not at all fresh and had come out of the oil sometime a few weeks back at the Santitos plant before being bagged up and sent to Walmart. Boo! My favorite part of Tex Mex style food, sullied by folks that haven't figured out how to clean a table properly and safely. When the main entrees arrived, the refried beans looked grey and like a cake that had fallen during baking and had been allowed to finish and then had cheese sprinkled on it to distract us from the appearance. The spanish rice was so tangy it was almost foul! Little to no seasoning to the ground beef in the enchiladas and tacos. The chili relllano was a cool blob of queao fresco wrapped in a giant chili that hadn't been seared and had the consistency of a rubbery bell pepper, dipped in batter and not fried long enough. Uncooked breading, dripping with oil, slathered on an under cooked and SWEET pepper. It's almost like someone from Minnesota taught the latins at the restaurant how to cook Mexican food... bland, wrong flavors, sweet and unappealing appearance. I would've said it was like my old next door neighbor Mrs. Lundegård had made a Mexican Hot-dish for the church social, but at least she got the seasoning in the neighborhood of Mexico.... When I ordered there was zero language barrier but when I wanted to address the quality of the food, " no Habla". He was rather stunned when I replied in his native tongue that the food sucked and we weren't happy with it, nor the conversation he and three other young men had been having in the middle of the dining room about what they had done after work with the prior evening. Suffice it to say it involved illegal contraband (not pot) and sex. Great. Have fun. Enjoy your liberty. Remember, some of us dumb white people understand spanish and use it quite well. We also don't like crapping our guts out later. If you're looking for authentic Mexican food, phenomenal quality and flavor I would recommend allowing me to take the bullet for you at this establishment and avoid it. El Loro in Big Lake is on top of their game and leave the graphic conversations in the back of the house. read more

This place is kind of tucked away, but that should not deter you away. We were sat immediately and received our drinks in a timely manner. The food came out surprisingly fast. A bit slow to wait on us. We were seated quickly, but then...nada! Server had minimal personality and mostly grunted. Salsa was okay, better than expected (looks like tomato sauce). At least they had good condiments (Cholula, el yucateco green and red sauces). Took a while to get our food from Grumpy aka Grunty. Grumpy had an AirPod in one ear. WTH! We ordered the Flaming Fajitas and it took a good 30 minutes. Finally, Miguel, brought our food and was very pleasant, an upgrade from Grunty Grump. Food was very good. A lot of flavor and sizable portion. The building started shaking and thought it must be the train on the other side of Hwy 10 but nope. No train in sight this time. Check took forever and we eventually went to the host stand to pay. Not once did anyone ask if weneeded anything. A great restaurant for anyone who likes an authentic-looking Mexican restaurant, without the good food. We got a mixed appetizer plate and I swear each thing was worst than the last. The quesadilla tasted like it was made with American processed cheese, the guacamole looked store-bought, and the taquitos were an impressive mix of undercooked and burned. Anything with cheese in it tasted weird. In fact, the queso we ordered to go with our chips was the strangest mystery sauce I've ever seen. It had the consistency of milk, was tasteless, and looked gross. My fajitas plate and its sides came out at different times, long enough for my beans and rice to get cold. The one upside was the traditional margarita, which was passable. I can imagine that a lot of people will love this place. Maybe you will. I can't imagine many of those people being experienced with a range of Mexican restaurants. This was an expensive disappointment. read more

Good for the area. I was super hopeful for this place when it first opened. It's good, they run specials, they have beer & margaritas. This style of Mexican uses zucchini & cactus (not my fave). I am a fan of the molcajete, my husband and I split it. I got the cheese Sauce one time- it was on the runny side. A 4-Star review is a little generous but I cant give half stars. It's nice to have variety in town and it's pretty good. Although if I could I'd give it 3.5-Stars. This place is amazing! My family grabs take out at least 1-2 a week. We love supporting this business and we hope it stays FOREVER. Great place for lunch or dinner and very kid friendly. We appreciate them being open during Covid-19 and they have been very accommodating. The staff is friendly and the food is delicious. We went there with a group of 7 during dinner rush and a full restaurant, they were able to make it work and get us all seated in 5 minutes. We knew they were super busy so we were in no rush to get the food yet everything came out very quickly. The food was great! It was also very large quantities so we all went home with a 'to go' box. The foods look, service it really nice and friendly. For a non fast food restaurant the prices are about what you would expect. ($10-25) my biggest issue is they offer a lunch time buffet, yet even over an hour before it's set to close they don't refill the food that is gone. Love the taste be the last 2 times I stopped the meats were mostly gone so I got 1 & 2 since both beef and chicken were picked over. For $11 personally I won't bother next time read more

Love their food and staff! They are friendly, professional and fast! Their classic margarita is tart, fresh, and sweet without being too sugary. I love their homemade tamales, NOT frozen. We stopped in to this restaurant and once we got our food my sister spilled her drink over her food on accident. The waiter noticed the spill but then came over and threw a rag at the table and walked away expecting for her to clean it. Then came back and seemed irritated when we asked if it possible if he could replace the food (only 2 bites were taken out of the food). He responded by saying it wasn't his fault, that he didn't spill the drink and nothing was wrong with the food so the food couldn't be replaced. He was extremely rude and didn't even try to help with anything at all. His name is Roberto Carlos. Action definitely needs to be taken. read more
