This is my go to lunch spot in Monticello. It is a unique restaurant in that they have both burritos/bowls and chicken Parmesan and fries. This trip I had a steak bowl with fajita veggies. It was very good. The meat choices aren't as spicy as the chain restaurants so if you are looking for heat, make sure to get the hot salsa and seasoned sour cream. The restaurant is recently renovated with a large dining area. There is also a patio area that typical is open during the summer. read more

I ordered a bowl with chicken. And then so many additional possibilities to add Compared to Chipotle I love that they use a different rice and lettuce. They seem to use less seasoning than Chipotle which works well because they did an amazing job curating higher quality ingredients that make the food taste lighter and fresher than Chipotle. My husband and I have been going to Bluestone Grill since it opened. Service and food quality used to be top notch. Sadly, that is no longer the case. My husband and I left the restaurant minutes ago, and I can say with certainty that we will not go back. We've had worse and worse experiences. Each time we went back we thought it would be better the next time. It hasn't gotten any better, and today's service was the straw that broke the camel's back. We're done. Stopped in for the second time last night. It was 8:30 and they close at 9:00 but the workers definitely seemed annoyed that we were coming in. One person helped make our bowls and then helped the other customer too before ringing us out while another employee was just standing there... very odd. When venturing to help a friend in the boonies of Monticello and craving Chipotle all week... Bluestone Grill popped up on my Google Maps search! I figured, it's worth a try as I was starving. Their setup is similar to Chipotle and the restaurant was packed at 2pm on a Monday. I ordered a bowl with half shrimp (yassssssss!) and half chicken so I could try a variety. They were both fresh and tasty! They also had yummy brown rice and it was cooked perfect. Something else different... a chipotle sour cream! This added a great smokey flavor to my bowl. I grabbed it to go and really enjoyed it! Thanks for quality food and the shrimp option! Your staff were very friendly and helpful as well! First visit for lunch today, raced through the line with workers trying to break speed records. Ordered chicken burrito, flour tortilla was torn, replaced in the middle of the race to build it. Hurried through payment process and got to the table, nice dining room! Sat down to eat, burrito and exploded apart in my hands and made a mess... Ordered chips and salsa too! Not terribly impressed with experience, much prefer Brito's in Monticello just to the north. Might try Bluestone again off peak to see if things are better. read more

I came back to MN for a visit with one thing on my mind: Chipotle!! Yes we have Maui beaches, but we don't have Chipotle. (#FirstWorldProblems) My sis recommended this place since it was much closer in distance and we had errands to run. I was excited to give it a whirl! This place is located in a long strip mall type building with ample parking. We walked in and there was a line but of course, it was dinner time and it smelled GREAT! Mexican food wafting through the air always makes me happy! This place is very similar to Chipotle. Pick what you want and they whip it up for ya. The ingredients were fresh and the prices were really pretty decent. The amount of food was pretty generous as well. I think I brought 1/3 of it back to my sisters house with me because it was so filling. The staff was friendly and the venue was really clean. I would definitely eat here again! If you're in Monti and looking for a place with good eats, stop here! read more

Just passing through the area and checked this place based on yelp reviews. 1st thing I noticed is that they are pretty much copying the Chipotle thing. So that automatically puts me in compare mode. Chicken was good and barbacoa was moist but really lacked flavor. We also had the chips and cheese and guacamole. Cheese sauce was very uninteresting and to runny. Guacamole was very good. All and all good little place but portions are smaller than chipotle and flavor is not as good. Prices are about the same. I give it three stars. Not that anything was bad but not that good ether. read more

Incident happened a while ago so I am not sure if this person is still there. Basically there is a manager there who is completely rude when anything negative happens. I have looked through the Google reviews and I noticed a similar theme. Food is good, portions are good but you better pray that everything goes right because if you have to talk to him it doesn't matter how nice or rude you are you are gonna get yelled at. For this reason alone me and my family have never been back. It's too stressful knowing that if a worker makes an honest mistake, that getting it rectified will be such a terrible experience. read more

Just like Chipotle, but the meat is less seasoned. I prefer that. Very accommodating staff as I have a daughter with Celiac (gluten free) and they prep her food as needed. Much appreciated! Add the seasoned sour cream to your burrito or bowl if you need a kick. read more

Bluestone is like a nice day, 70 degree outside, partly cloudy, and a nice wind. When you eat at bluestone all the ingredients are fresh and cooked to perfection. The ordering process is like an assembly line, and while you are ordering you can see the workers in the back making the food and hear the sizzle of the meat hitting the grill. They have a wide variety of food ranging from french fries to Burttios to chicken fingers, from a cost of $3.75 for the fries 8.95 for chicken, ground beef and for $9.45 you get steak, shrimp, barbacoa, and carnitas. Chicken strips and fries are $6.45. When you order a burrito or a burrito bowl you can choose from white rice or brown rice, then brown or black beans, then you can choose from vegetables or no vegetables, then you choose what kind of meat you want, then you choose what type of slasa you want on it, then order other side like lettuce, cheese, corn, and salsa. Once you finally get your food and taste it, its like if the heavens was edible. I would 100% recommend bluestone to anyone thats in town or new to the area! read more

It's a mediocre substitution for Chipotle. I respect their business model but their flavors fall very short. The food is so incredibly salty it drowns out every flavor - including the hot sauce on my bowl. I love salty food and this was too much for me. Food quality is good but- and this really bugged me- the guacamole was REALLY salty, so that it wasn't enjoyable. My partner complained that there was too much sour cream. This is a chipotle knock-off, but it's way better than chipotle. Offers items that chipotle doesn't, like ground beef and seasoned sour cream. They also have French fries and surprisingly enough, chicken Parmesan. Never tried it but heard it's good. Everything just tastes a little better than chipotle. Bluestone grill is a knock-off version of Chipolte Mexican Grill. Although I say it is a "knock-off", I personally think Bluestone is a bit better. It is located in Monticello, MN and very popular among highschool students in the area. They have various options to select from. I would suggest a chicken burrito with hot salsa, sour cream, cheese, and lettuce. I love this place, it never fails to satisify. I have heard from other people who have gone to Bluestone that it is a bit on the salty side. read more

Love this place! It's bigger than it looks from the street. Like others have said, it is like Chipotle. Walk up and tell them what you'd like and they build your burrito, salad, bowl, etc...You can add rice, beans, cheese, lettuce, onions, green peppers, several different salsas. Their tortilla chips really are addictive and some of the tastiest I've never had. Tuesday is free cookie day. Love that. We will be back and highly recommend. Next time I plan on eating in. It's very similar to Chipotle, but they have chicken and fries for a change of pace. Their chips are a bit on the salty side but are SOOO yummy and addictive!! :-) Their quac is awesome too. What I love the most about this place is their plain rice. I'm not a huge fan of cilantro and I feel that Chipotle overuses cilantro in their rice. At BlueStone, I can use the plain rice and my food tastes so much better! They also have a loyalty program where you get a discount every time and a free meal on your birthday month which is nice! Also, you can order online which is a huge time saver. You can set it to be picked up later that day, so order at lunch time and pick up at 6pm is definitely an option.
