I think I just had an "out of body" experience. I just had FRIENDLY & EFFICIENT customer service at a retail establishment. Here's what worked: 1) I was greeted with a smile 2) Instead of those STUPID receipts and forms that take FOREVER to process, all they did was punch in my phone number. 3) Great team work - While one employee processed my info, the other either slipped me another shiny ring or polished my nearly 20 year old ring to make it look like new. 3/6/21 I was greeted immediately by one of the managers upon walking inside the store. The lady had nice boots on. I wasn't sure what I would find, but that is the point of browsing. Amythest jewelry always gets my attention, but nothing came of it this time around. I did see a lot of stuff on clearance, but it to wasn't appealing. This Kay Jewelers is like another other jewelry place, nothing exciting. The selection of jewelry isn't bad, and they seem to have sales quite frequently. The sales associates are friendly, especially when they want to sell something to you (duh!). When I come in for my 6 month ring inspections, they aren't as eager to help me, but they still do so with a smile. What I'm not a fan of, is how they try to push me into buying something when I clearly just want to get my inspection done and over with. Stand your ground though, and they will eventually get it. Oh well, I know it's a part of their job. Okay place to go to if you're in the mall. If you want a wider selection of jewelry, I'd head to a larger store. read more

I bought a beautiful white gold and diamond pendant from the Wheaton Plaza location. The pendant is lovely, but the chain was a cheap piece of sh*t. I had to bring it back to the store for "repair" (read as, a crappy, half-assed soldering job on a paper-thin chain) THREE TIMES in the first 5 weeks I owned it. I would rather have paid more upfront for a better chain than to deal with that headache. The last time I got the chain back, there were dark kinks and knots in it and it was nowhere near smooth. I brought this to the attention of one of the associates who told me that this is fairly common with chains like that, and that my only other option was to buy a new chain. I checked out the other chains that would fit my pendant and they all cost about as much as, if not more, than the damn pendant did. Plus, I wasn't exactly sold on the quality of Kay's chains after this whole experience, and I didn't think it fair for me to essentially pay double the cost of my pendant because they refused to include a decent chain with it. Despite the goading, and the coaxing, and the sweet talking on the part of the sales associates, I decided not to give them any more of my money. I went right to my family jeweler, and he made me a chain for my pendant for one-third the price that these vultures wanted to charge. And you know what? It's been two years and I haven't had a problem with that chain yet. Fool me once, Kay Jewelers... but I promise you won't get the chance to fool me again. read more

My review is titled "Never Again!" My watch stopped, and my regular jeweler was closed. I decided to stop by Wheaton Mall because it was on my way, and I presented the watch to a female staff person at Kay Jewelers. In broken English that I could barely understand, she told me it needed a new battery. This woman seemed to have trouble doing this simple replacement, and muttered something about "needing tape." I asked the supervisor to help her, and asked why tape was needed. The "supe" gave me some line about my watch needing the battery taped in because "perhaps the person who last replaced the battery broke something." I told her I doubted that that was the case. Between the two of them--"Unclear English" and "The Supe"--they finally replaced the battery, and I was charged $30--way more than I've ever paid at my regular jeweler's shop. About a week later, the watch stopped working again. I went back to Kay and asked them to check it. They told me they'd have to send the watch out for repair and charge me an additional fee. I told them, "No way!" One young guy suggested I go to a repair shop in the mall, but I searched the entire floor where he said the shop would be and couldn't find it. I went back to him and said, "Thanks for the wild goose chase!" When I asked them to remove the battery and refund my money, they refused. I then demanded that they put in a substitute battery at no charge. They very reluctantly complied. I made sure to let the supervisor know what I thought of their lack of expertise and ripoff price. About 2 weeks later, the watch stopped again. This time, I went to my regular jeweler--Gold Castle Jewelers in Silver Spring, MD. They kept the watch for a few days, called me and told me they replaced the battery and my fee would be $8.00, and I picked it up several days later. I won't ever go anywhere else again! read more

Literally the reason I have created a Yelp account. I work for a company that has taught us to understand the value of a positive and negative review. I've never been someone to post of felt the need to escalate things up ranks but I am DISGUSTED at the way I was treated by Management ( Mrs. Flores ) when my issue was addressed. I have had a Kay's Card for years. I have bought my watches, Engagement ring, Wedding ring and numerous gifts for family through Kay's. I got a Kay's Card because of how exceptionally well I recieved customer service at another location. However, 4 weeks ago I bought a bracelet via this location and had a special order shipped in. Was told it would arrive 5 days later and that I would receive a call. I was greeted as usually and offer discounts and all these extra coupons and treated like I was a frequent guest, Especially after they view the card Balance I have. 5 Days pass and I don't receive a call. I show up on the 7th day and I was told that the delivery was delayed and had to wait 5 more days. I show up 7 days later and am told the the product says i was delivered to the store on the date I previously showed up but they couldn't find it. I was told that this definitely is something i would be compensated for and the manager would call me the next day. I waited a week for a response and was told that the manager was aware of the situation and that once the product arrived I would be notified. 4 weeks after I had order this bracelet the manager calls and leaves me a voicemail saying " Call Me" I call 2 days later and Was told that the bracelet was there. I asked to speak to the manager and Ms. Flores answered like it was her house phone and asked what I needed. I explained what had happened and expressed that I was looking for some kind of compensation for the delay I experience in providing this gift in a timely manner to someone. I said I frankly felt that I should not pay for this product and asked what could be done. She responded to me with a condescending tone saying she will never approve something to be compensated for a delay in HER STORE. I explained It was not a delay but rather something that was lost in her store and they had to reorder. She dismissively provided me the number to customer service wishing me luck. THE ONLY REASON I called customer care was truly to submit a complaint because I have NEVER , seriously, NEVER been treated this way in my life. I explained to customer service what happened and agreed to let them call the store. The manager, Mrs Flores, then provided false statements to customer service basically saying I was too lazy to pick it up and was making things up and said her staff could confirm I never showed up. Even though the system shows I picked up my wedding band one week after my braclet should have arrived. I seriously lost my mind on the phone and blew up because i was being called a liar for something less than $100. I WILL NEVER RETURN TO THAT STORE AGAIN AND AM CLOSING MY ACCOUNT WITH KAY'S. I am appalled at the way this situation was treated and that the MANAGER was the person who was most disrespectful. read more

I took three of my rings resized and one fixed the opal stone had fallen out years ago and finally found the chance to get it fixed they did an amazing job I could not be more happier with the finish product all three rings are unbelievable beautiful they look brand new great customer service Tracy is wonderful read more

This is a typical Kay Jewelry store that you'd see in any mall. However, I wanted to take the time to write this review because one of the employees, Nancy, was kind enough to help my wife with a bent engagement ring purchased years ago at another Kay. The ring had gotten bent, we thought fairly badly. Nancy greeted us, asked us what kind of material the ring was made out of, and took it to the back for a moment. When she came out it was completely fixed, no charge, and she cleaned my wife's other rings, with no sales pitch of trying to sell us anything else. Though I didn't buy anything that day, I will be coming back to that store in the hopes of giving Nancy a sale the next time I purchase jewelry for my wife. read more

I came into Kay Jewelers to size my NEW MOVADO watch. The salesman was terrible!!! Not only was he unable to remove any of the link and wasted my time, but he also scratched my NEW WATCH!!! How can that happen is you're supposed to be trained to perform this service??? He also knew he scratched my watch and didn't even tell me or acknowledge it!!! We all make mistakes but we need to OWN them when it happens. And they are supposed to be an "AUTHORIZED" Movado dealer????? I don't think so......So if I buy a new watch at Kay, do I have to go to another place to get it properly sized??? I guess I do. But since I will NEVER step inside a Kay again, I don't have to worry about it. I DO NOT recommend this place for anything!!! I wonder how they stay in business... read more
