My family and I have been seeing Dr. Kay and now his daughter, Dr. Bak, for years. They're fantastic physicians and I always feel well cared for. The new office is great, and the free parking is a rare gift in LA. Where things fall short is the front desk. I almost never write Yelp reviews, but the attitude from the staff has been consistently disappointing. Phone calls feel rushed, like they can't wait to hang up, and in-person interactions aren't much warmer. Not rude outright, but definitely curt and unfriendly. It's confusing because the doctors are wonderful, the policies are fair, and their billing and communication are clear. I just wish the experience of scheduling, checking in, and checking out matched the quality of care inside the exam rooms. read more

Dr Kay and his staff always take great care of me and my skin issues. I've been going there for 20 years and they are always professional and courteous with very little waiting. I never feel rushed as he and his staff spend ample time with my check ups and procedures. I am pleased with the treatments that they offer me as I've never had any negative problems or side effects. Looks pretty good on the outside, wish I would have looked deeper into the Yelp reviews before having this place perform a Blue Light Photo Facial on me. This procedure is covered by insurance. There should have been no serious downtime. I was treated by an unlicensed nurse, whom they call and have a business card for, titled "Head Nurse." She is not and was allowed to treat me unsupervised. She applied the chemical solution to my face so unevenly and repeated the same spots over and over, (I even questioned it). Then when it was time for the light treatment, she stuck the eye stickers on my eyes before I was even comfortable in the bed, then she put me under the light so close I had to move down because I could feel it burning, besides her rushed and frigid treatment she also was rather unpleasant when I asked her basic questions. I ended up days later in terrible pain. I was examined by my GP and she confirmed I had 2nd degree burns on my face. Dr. Kay had to put me on topical and oral steroids to treat my face. The doctors initial reaction was that of concern and I felt like he wanted to right the situation. After the 2 week steroid treatment was over and me having to hide out, I returned for a follow up. This is when I saw the true nature of this doctor...he completely changed his tune. He took no responsibility for what had happened, told me the nurse who was "defensive" had done exactly what he told her to and that I got exactly the treatment I came there for. No accountability, just a cover-up. And someone in the office wrote up false information on my medical records that I later requested along with the said nurse's license number, which doesn't exist. In my opinion I think this practice is rushed, unconcerned and cuts corners. They were not nice to me and I feel I received substandard service. Was it from having unqualified personal perhaps, or was it just a bad day? I don't know. This happened in April, 2025 and although it is subsiding considerably, my face is still unevenly red, especially when wet or heated. Needless to say, I do not recommend Kay Dermatology. read more

Elana Litwin, PA is a superstar. Having dealt with issues over the years and after seeing doctors who spend very little time to actually get to the bottom of the problem and prescribe medication after medication that did not work, I met Elana. After explaining the issue she quickly took action to figure out the root issue without jumping to prescribing medication. Conservative topical treatment, lab testing, and thorough examination, diagnosis, and action, my issue disappeared in a week or so. Her compassion and caring attitude towards patient care and finding solutions speak volumes about the medical professional she is. She'll greet you with a huge smile, make you feel heard, welcomed, and will leave no stone unturned until a solution is found. Can't thank her enough! If you have skin issues, go see her first. Beware, predatory pricing. They quoted me as a new client $180 to remove a couple skin tags. Then when you arrive to office they try to charge an additional $250 for a consultation. They could easily mention this when you book your appointment but purposely don't mention it to get you through the door. Very shady. read more
