It's certainly a smaller shop but it is jampacked with magical things. My boyfriend and I probably spent at least half an hour in here just wandering around. We both ended up buying some things to take back home. It was just definitely a fun little spot to explore while in Shepherdstown. I hope this place stays around for a very long time because I'd love to visit again someday.

The building is divided into multiple rooms, one of which includes a fireplace with books and rocking chairs. Another resembles a second-hand clothing store, and the last is a mini-hardware shop. The store boasts a delightful collection of old-fashioned trinkets. Along the shelves are everything from old-fashioned toys, to glass cookware and vinyl records. The location is also home to a working blacksmith shop in case your horse needs a new pair of shoes. I loved the display of Raggedy Anns and Raggedy Andy. I still have my Raggedy Ann from many, many years ago. She's in a cedar box now to keep her safe with my other memories from growing up. I'd be worried about one of the doggies getting her now. Birch Tree Books & Plants is a really interesting combination of a business…read more The store itself is chock full of books and, of course, plants in a series of little rooms in a house in downtown Leesburg.  It's a fun place to wander through and look at what is on each shelf and in the corners.  There are other cute quirks such as a wheel you can spin with each purchase.  You can win candy or a small prize among other options.  It's a little extra fun and the kids loved it when we visited.  We were there for an author talk which took place upstairs in a bigger, open and light-filled room.  The set up worked very well, providing a casual atmosphere but also one that was very intimate due to the smaller number of chairs the space could accommodate. The event was well run and we will definitely keep our eye on the calendar for future events.  Parking is convenient in nearby garages.
