    Spicy seafood ramen

I think out of all the island this restaurant was #1 in my fiancé and I opinion. Should've ate here our whole stay. Great and super attentive service and amazing ramen. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Not full and very calm restaurant.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] 10/10!

What a hidden GEM! This place was awesome - amazing food, great service and even better prices. We got the mochiko chicken ramen, char siu ramen, gyoza, and salmon sashimi. Unreal prices (not just for Kauai!). The mochiko chicken and the ramen noodles (literally the noodles themselves) were standouts. The chicken was so flavorful and delicious and the noodles had unbelievable chew and bite. Absolutely recommend!

The food is so good I come so often! The service is so good and the employees are super nice. [[HIGHLIGHT]]And the atmosphere here has great vibes.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] But seriously the servers are so kinda, and actually can recognize costumers

Would you drive 40 minutes round trip to save $60? One of only a handful of ramen restaurants on the entire island. We stopped by on our way back from the Waimea Canyon. Wife and her sister each ordered $10.50 spicy seafood ramen, while I ordered the $10.25 seafood fried noodles and the $6 goyza. Service is leisurely. Goyza piping hot, looked like it was steamed instead of pan fried, but tasted extremely fresh, soft, without the pan fried bottoms. I tried a bit of the spicy seafood ramen and it was generally the same as my seafood fried noodles, but with ramen noodles instead of fried noodles. 2 shrimp, 2 squid, and 1 scallops in mine, while they had only the shrimp and squid. Shrimp Ok, and the squid very rubbery. Would have lost a crown if I still had one, it was so tough., and the scallops were flaky without any flavor. The ramen in both dishes was heavenly, superb with smooth creamy flavor. The pan fried noodles were my favorite, even more so than the ramen noodles. 20 minutes away is our timeshare and Eating house 1849 selling their spicy ramen dish for $34, as much as all three of our dishes combined. Tough to get a reservation at 1849. And you don't need a reservation here. Parked right in front of the restaurant. When it came to leave, large SUVs parked on both sides of our sedan, so we were backing out blind, right into a long line of vehicles trying to exit the shopping center. Wife and her sister loved the spicy seafood ramen here, but wife didn't care for the spicy ramen at 1849, and I couldn't get them to go to the new ramen restaurant Hapa Kauai, right next to 1849.

A quaint Ramen restaurant, adjacent to a Chinese restaurant. We had the California roll and Gyoza. Best meal for about $19 for 2 people. Delicious food, freshly made sushi and Gyoza! Love this place!!

So good they food is good and fast! [[HIGHLIGHT]]The place is cute and near port Allen.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] They can get busy but the service was still very pleasant and I definitely will come back again and way better than the overrate saimin places.

Miso and Shoyu Ramen and Unagi Roll
    Kirsten S.

Paid $27 + tip for two ramens and a sushi roll. Don't think I've ever paid so little for a meal on the island. Fast service! Small restaurant so there could be a line if you don't get lucky. We got there at 6pm on a Saturday night, 3-4 tables open so we got seated right away. Food came out within 10 minutes. Ramen was flavorful for $9.50. Would probably get the Miso instead of the Shoyu Ramen. You get what you pay for but i would definitely come back for a cheap meal!

We were hungry for lunch and we were craving ramen, so we found this place and decided to eat here. We walked in and we were immediately taken to our seats. We ordered Miso ramen, edamame, and gyoza. The food was very hot but cooled off quickly. It was delicious and we were very full afterwards. There were TVs inside and it was very clean and well maintained. 10/10 highly recommend. Can't wait to eat here again!

We ordered: - VEGGIE ROLL - not ver - CHICKEN KATSU SIDE - mainly batter not a lot of meat - FRIED NOODLE VEGGIE - was okay not much flavor BLEACH smell when we entered - not at all appealing Nothing tasted great - it was okay. We just ended up here since it was one of the few open. Food was not fresh nor tasty. Too processed. I am surprised this has such high reviews. Avoid this place.

You can watch the chefs working on dishes thru the open counter kitchen. Our server was friendly and took our orders right away. However, our food was served in two waves as the ramen was served early, but the rice dishes arrived much later. Our server came to our table to address the wait for the rice dishes so at least they were aware of the problem. The ramen was gourmet and the portions were generous. I ordered a Chashu bowl and it came in a small rice bowl, which was a perfect amount for me as I wasn't very hungry. It was small and mighty with a jam egg, 2 slices of Chashu and a bed of rice. I just wish the meat was tender and rice was less dry. My fiancé ordered the Katsudon and liked it. The servers kept dropping by to check on us so we did feel taken care of. Overall it's a good place for some ramen if you are in the mood.

Takes 10 minutes for our orders to arrive. Wife's $18 vegetable ramen is bean sprouts, onions, carrots and bell peppers in a Tonkatsu broth. Slightly on the spicy side, wife liked it well enough to finish all the vegetables, leaving a small amount of the broth -too salty by itself. My $20 Chashu ramen also comes with 4 pieces of slices of chashu in a tonkatsu broth, but not as spicy as the vegetable ramen. Both dishes have a good amount of thin but tasty yellow ramen noodles., combined with bits of green onions. Loved the broth but wished the chashu were thicker -they were cut into slices no more than 1/8th of an inch thick, so the actual amount of pork was on the small side. Other than skimping on the amount of pork, the dish could have had some bean sprouts in it. Next time will order the $2 egg and the $3 option for more noodles. Price competitive with Hapa Kauai which has ramen noodle dishes at $27-$33, including the hard boiled egg. We came on a clear day, but it rains a lot in Kauai. Would not like to climb up and down the 20 outdoor stairs without a landing.

Request a table near the windows for a sunset view. We arrived and were greeted and seated immediately. Shortly afterwards we were served complementary spicy edamame. We ordered three appetizers to share. Brussel Sprouts & Cauliflower, Black Garlic & Yuzu Ahi Tartar and Vietnamese Style Sashimi. The Brussel Sprouts & Cauliflower was excellent, golden raisins and pine nuts add sweetness and texture, balsamic vinegar counters with wonderful acid contrast. The Black Garlic & Yuzu Ahi Tartar is simply fabulous, one of the best bites I have ever had. I first had this dish two years ago when it was introduced as a new dish in a prefix meal. On that trip we returned to enjoy the dish once again. Had it again last year as I travel to Kauai each year. I'm happy to see it is still on the menu! Our third dish was the Vietnamese Style Sashimi and it was okay, although a bit underwhelming for Eating House standards. It was fresh but lack the complexity that I have grown to expect from this restaurant. We requested some wasabi and it helped with the flavors. My thinking is the jalapeño oil should have been more concentrated or pronounced. To be clear I did not complain, regardless the dish was removed from our bill. Very nice. Thank you. The front desk staff guided me to the elevator. This trip was for my birthday. In every reservation when asked about a special occasion, I put birthday. This was the first restaurant to acknowledge my special day. The check-in staff wished me well as did the server. We had been to several restaurants prior to Eating House that didn't say a word. Kudos to the staff for its kindness. The restaurant is open air and very comfortable. It has a rustic feel. We were seated by the window on a cool, rainy night but were perfectly dry the whole evening. On top of that, our server was very helpful in guiding us to order the right amount of food. He brought us a serving of edamame which is always on the house. The shrimp & pork potstickers were very good. I had the ramen which was tasty, filling and a great choice. Our server was terrific to put the spicy oil on the side which made it easier for me to eat. My husband had the butterfish which is the best I have ever tasted. It is a signature dish and always a pleaser. The only real downside is the limited menu. We were told that because of a staff shortage, it wasn't the typical menu. This was disappointing. But they did have the best of the Roy's dishes. So far, it has been the best experience that we have had in Poipu.

It's definitely a local favorite due to its generous portions, authentic Hawaiian cuisine and friendly service. We ordered the fried chicken and poke combo with wonton chips and the ahi katsu (my absolute fav). The ahi was fried to perfection- crispy on the outside while rare and tender on the inside. The sauce on the katsu was absolutely fire!!! So good! Macaroni salad was creamy and delicious. And the rice was perfect. Its right off a main road and you cannot miss it. Parking lot was a bit small, but there was plenty of parking. AMBIANCE: When I went there was plenty of seating. A bit dead, but I also did go pretty early. There were a bunch of decor of older American pop culture like Bruce Lee, Chuck Norris, etc. But also Hawaiian themed decor (obviously). SERVICE: You gotta walk up to the front to order. I was approached almost immediately as soon as I walked up to the menu on the screen. The girl working was super friendly and welcoming. I made my order and she gave me a pager for when my food was ready. FOOD: I ordered the chili pepper chicken, which was recommended from the girl at the counter. My friend ordered the ahi katsu. The chili pepper chicken was good! It was crispy and extremely flavorful. It was slightly too salty for my taste, but luckily the rice does help balance it out. Some of the crispness was sacrificed for the sauce, but it was overall still pretty crispy. I loved that they used boneless chicken thigh. I was expecting bones or lots of breading but it actually had a perfect ratio. I wasn't much a fan of the mac salad. It was like a mix of mac and potato salad, but more like a potato salad. I'm not big on potato salad, so that makes sense. My friend's ahi katsu was alright in my opinion. The sauce that's on it was good and enjoyed all the flavors. The tuna was just a bit overcooked to my liking, but idk how else one would make a katsu without overlooking it too much. Maybe bread the fish and freeze it before frying? Idk man, I'm not a chef lol but the tuna would definitely be better if it was less cooked. OVERALL: Honestly, I would still come here again. I still enjoyed the meal and the service was pretty quick. Both items were both worth trying. All the flavors were there and the little things I didn't like were just personal preferences. Its a great place to pick up a lunch plate and enjoy it at the beach.

Here's what we tried: Papaya Salad: Really refreshing and tasty, though a bit steep on the price tag for what it is. Pork Belly Ramen: good but definitely not authentic-level ramen and at $30 (even with the added spicy miso sauce) it was just okay. I probably wouldn't order it again.
