Honestly the entire experience was disappointing. It was hard to figure out where to go and who to ask for help, we were asked to wait outside and then were rushed to order, to eat and to pay. At first I thought maybe that how they were with everyone, but then noticed that they're only nice to regulars. The person who seemed to be in charge was not nice and just wanted us to get out. Would you drive 40 minutes round trip to save $60? One of only a handful of ramen restaurants on the entire island. We stopped by on our way back from the Waimea Canyon. Wife and her sister each ordered $10.50 spicy seafood ramen, while I ordered the $10.25 seafood fried noodles and the $6 goyza. Service is leisurely. Goyza piping hot, looked like it was steamed instead of pan fried, but tasted extremely fresh, soft, without the pan fried bottoms. I tried a bit of the spicy seafood ramen and it was generally the same as my seafood fried noodles, but with ramen noodles instead of fried noodles. 2 shrimp, 2 squid, and 1 scallops in mine, while they had only the shrimp and squid. Shrimp Ok, and the squid very rubbery. Would have lost a crown if I still had one, it was so tough., and the scallops were flaky without any flavor. The ramen in both dishes was heavenly, superb with smooth creamy flavor. The pan fried noodles were my favorite, even more so than the ramen noodles. 20 minutes away is our timeshare and Eating house 1849 selling their spicy ramen dish for $34, as much as all three of our dishes combined. Tough to get a reservation at 1849. And you don't need a reservation here. Parked right in front of the restaurant. When it came to leave, large SUVs parked on both sides of our sedan, so we were backing out blind, right into a long line of vehicles trying to exit the shopping center. As far as the food goes, the ramen could have been more al dente, but it was pretty good overall. For a quick ramen fix, I'd definitely come back. The wait staff are in a hurry and boss lady (we think) is only taking drink orders. My beer wasn't cold enough. The food: The Mochiko Ramen is overcooked and inconsistently breaded. The broth is weird-not tonkatsu, not shoyu. I dunno what it is. The noodle is low grade and barely a step up from instant. The shrimp curry was decent with the shrimp, but mediocre with the curry. Overall, hard pass. The best thing I can say about this place is that they open late (that's the real edge they have) and the food is at least edible.
