Went to this place after snorkeling. Went inside, and ordered. Not what we expected at all. Plain, store bought ramen. Bland soup, and not worth it. It's split with the Chinese restaurant next door. Good price and good food. Local favourite. They are so nice to! They need to paint their restraint and make it a little more romatic/classy. The only thing that keeps them from being a nice restaurant is the interior design and lack of paint. If they took a look at any really stressful ramen and sushi place and take some pointers, they would have 5 stars. Presentation is very important!!! Found this restaurant on the way back to Poipu from watching the sunset at Polihale State Park. Not much else was open, so we were headed to McDonald's when we noticed Kauai Ramen!! Big win!! We tried the chicken katsu ramen, spicy seafood ramen, wonton soup same soup base as chicken katsu and the wontons were basically just a wonton wrapper with a pinch of meat if that.. we also got pork fried rice and mochiko chicken. This place was actually not too bad, the ramen was a bit disappointing though considering they are a Ramen joint. However, ironically the sushi was pretty decent, for the price. Its not top of line quality however I was amazed that the rainbow roll was only $11. I forgot to take pics but it wasn't super thick rice or anything, the sushi to rice ratio was pretty good! The miso ramen was cheap but only alright so i guess I cant complain for $7.50 a bowl. We also got the fried Calamair that was pretty goos for $6. They even serve beer and other simple alcoholic drinks! Weird thing. I would come back for the sushi because the price is right! read more

this place is a great addition to west side eateries! it's owned by the same chinese family that owns no. 1 next door, where ichiban sushi used to be. the interior is very clean. they have booths and tables to choose from. the girl that served us was very friendly and quick, too. my dad ordered the spicy seafood ramen which was loaded with vegetables (he wishes there was a bit more seafood). i got a mini ramen (shoyu broth) that had kamaboko and pork. it would be a perfect serving size for keiki, or if you're not super hungry. the flavor was good, noodles cooked to the right consistency! the portion they gave us was great for the price! we were also give four free gyoza (i think they're doing this during their opening week only) which were tasty! in addition to ramen, they have other items on the menu you can order. i really like that they have variety, because it makes it a good place to stop and eat if not everyone is feeling like having only ramen. i would highly encourage people to stop by to check them out if down on that side of the island! read more

I really didn't have much expectation to this ramen place in Kauai. However, it managed to go below my bottom line and I've decided to do something about it. When I yelp this place on 19-Jan-15, it has 4.5 stars!?? Clearly yelp-fixing!! I challenge anyone who can find a worst ramen place in the bay area or SoCal. So my family ordered a miso ramen, a shoyu ramen with the extra egg, and a fried rice. I don't even know where to start criticizing the ramen. The broth really is tasteless with no pork (or any meat), nor miso / shoyu favor, the noodle was also plain with not much texture. It came with one thin slice of port which was overlooked and marinated with plain salt. What's worse is the egg - a fully cooked, white hard boil egg cut in half!!! The only consolation is that the fried rice was decent. But come on, how can one screw up fried rice? Am I suppose to be glad that the ramen place can make fried rice? read more

I live in Koloa about 10-15 minutes away from Eleele where Kaua'i Ramen is located - I have been hearing rave reviews from my friends about it so decided to order a take out order tonite since hubby is working late (he isn't a ramen fan). Called ahead for my order and it was ready for me when I walked in - I noticed the place was super clean and looked very new - but since I was taking out - just picked up my combo order of ramen, fried rice and gyoza for a grand total of $8.50! The ramen was excellent - the fried rice also and the gyoza (4 pieces) - very good indeed! I couldn't finish all of it and put the remainder of the fried rice in the icebox for tomorrow. I live in an area that is full of high priced visitor type places that are what I consider expensive - this however is excellent and not tourist priced - I plan on going there regularly! We flew in and were on our way to the cabins but stopped here for subway (my son always wants to stop in this area for subway). They are located next to, yes, Subway. My daughter loves noodles and asked to eat here. Sure, why not, pictures make it look pretty good. The restaurant is older and in need of an upgrade. The table (booth type) was sticky, even though the waitress wiped it; the chairs were sticky also. I had the curry ramen--wasn't a flavor that I'd rave about and my daughter had the regular ramen---unfortunately, she didn't care too much for it either. If you're in the area and craving noodles, give it a try. At least once. Who knows, you may like it. Seems as though this place has mixed reviews. A definite must skip. Some local hole in the walls dont turn out to be hidden gems. We went there around lunch time and it was completely empty and they didn't seem all that excited to see us. I got the Miso Ramen and disappointing doesn't even cover it. 1 slice of pork and the rest was sprouts and cabbage. Definitely not what the pictures illustrated. My girlfriend got the Chuka Ramen which was a pork broth but it tasted like bad fish which is not what I would hope or expect my pork based ramen to taste like. I was really excited about trying this place and was disappointed by the quality. The space felt dingy and there were ants crawling into the wall and onto our table. There were fruit flies buzzing around and I didnt want to think of what the kitchen might look like. The miso udon I ordered tasted nothing like udon but my BF's pork ramen was ok. Such a great surprise. Typical small spot in a strip mall. Opens fairly early around 1030...loved the curry ramen....love the price also! 7.95 for a huge bowl! Let's clarify one thing up front - this is a Chinese ramen place; not Japanese. Whoever heard of Ma Po Tofu Ramen?!! Japanese ramen normally have clear broth with lots of flavor. This is not the case at Kauai Ramen. Like a previous Yelper noted, this restaurant has the same owner as the adjoining Chinese restaurant. I ordered the Seafood Ramen and the broth was thick like gravy. I think they made basic ramen and then add a ladle of seafood stir-fry from next door. It had squid, fish, shrimp, mushroom, sweet peas, and sliced carrots. My husband's Char Siu ramen was also swimming in a dark salty brown broth. Since we were both desperate for Asian food, we ate the noodles but left the broth. We got there at 5 pm and both restaurants were empty. I give this a 2-star due to the decent service and good gyoza. If you are spoiled by authentic Japanese ramen, I would avoid this place. read more

Family of tourists from California here. This place is awesome! Plus if you're used to California prices and portion sizes; it is cheap and huge! The mini ramen size is big enough for the average person, the regular size is very very large. Maybe the right size for a giant who hasn't eaten in a week? If you like good ramen, I'm sorry to let you know that you are not going to find it here. The broth is terribly bland and the ramen had no flavor. I usually polish off my noodle soup, but eating the ramen here was such a chore. I couldn't even finish the katsu. On the plus side, the serving size is larger than any ramen place I've tried (two could share a bowl), the egg was cooked right (wet yolk) and the texture of the noodle is right. If you really must have ramen, try samin instead or some other cuisine. There is no barely passable ramen here. read more

After 6 days and nights of touristy, expensive food and watered down mai tai's we needed a break. The awesome bowls of ramen were the perfect reprieve. Absolutely our favorite and (by far) least expensive meal on Kauai ($30 for 2 adults and 2 kids). Tucked away in a strip mall with McD's on the corner as the landmark - we only found it by accident when we were heading to Long's to pick up some cough drops. We were the only tourists in the place, which had a good crowd of locals on a Sun night. Really awesome food, esp. on a rainy day...and not a mai tai in sight. Heaven. read more
